Spiderman Gaurav Sharma to climb 45-story building in Mumbai and hoist the national flag on Republic Day

Mumbai – 22nd January 2014: India’s very own spider man, 32-year-old Mumbai-based Gaurav Sharma will attempt to achieve a new record on Republic Day – 26th January this year. Sharma will attempt to climb the 45-story Shreepati Arcade building at Nana Chowk in South Mumbai, in an attempt to break his own earlier record of 19 minutes and 4 seconds. The historic, record-breaking attempt will begin at approximately 11.30 am on 26 January at the entrance of the Shreepati Arcade building from where Sharma will being his death-defying climb.

Gaurav Sharma – a stunt artiste – had successfully climbed the same building on 26th January 2009. Sharma said, “I have planned this climb for two reasons – one to better my own earlier record and two for a cause. Right now I do not want to disclose the cause, but of course it is a social one. I will share everything with you within two days. We are in the process of obtaining some permissions and clearing other technical matters and once this is done, by the 23rd January, I will share further details of the climb.”

Gaurav S Sharma born on 2 August 1982 had earlier climbed the facade of the Shreepati Arcade – one of the tallest buildings in Mumbai located at Nana Chowk in 19 min and 4 seconds on January 26, 2009 as a tribute to the victims of the 26/11 terror attack in Mumbai. He had climbed the building finding footholds without any external support, using just a safety line made of rope wrapped around his waist. This feat won him an entry in the Limca Book of Records.

Shreepati Arcade is one of India’s tallest buildings and it was completed in 2002. It is located at Nana Chowk, Mumbai, just off Grant Road bridge in the heart of the city of Mumbai. The building is 153 meters tall and has 45 floors.

Explaining the motivation behind this, he says, “I always wanted to do something different and extraordinary. Something which no one else has done before.” Gaurav Sharma runs GSLS – an institute coaching and training youngsters in various sporting activities as well as providing stunt training. A black belt in Judo and Goju Rio, Gaurav attributes his ability to defy death to his perseverance and concentration.

His final goal is to climb the world’s tallest man-made structure which is the 830 meters high Burj Khalifa building in Dubai, which he intends to do next year 2015, he revealed in an exclusive interview to Newz66.com.

Gaurav Sharma, had earlier climbed a 240-feet-tall building Darshan Heights, with just a rope to support him in 10 minutes and 11 seconds. Speaking about this feat, Gaurav says, “The technique I used to climb is called Chimney Climbing.” He has been inspired by Alan Robert, the real life Spiderman. Robert is known to have climbed several high-rise buildings with his bare hands, explains Sh

When the Cat is away the Mice are at Play!

Farhan Akhtar did just that last night when he and his friend Vir Das were out crashing party after party on a wild night out running through several pubs in Mumbai. And all this while Vidya Balan was away!

Well! To put it in perspective; they were essentially recreating the eternal bachelor song ‘Harrys not a Brahmachari’ from their film Shaadi Ke Side/Effects in which they crash parties, weddings and what not.

With the above; the much awaited music of Balaji Motion Pictures and Pritish Nandy Communications’ Shaadi Ke Side/Effects, composed by Pritam and on Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series, is now out with its first single – Harry’s Not A Brahmachari!

Whilst the song will be seen across all channels, the Internet launched it first.

Balaji CEO, Alpana Mishra says “Digital till recently called the future; has quickly become the present. People now prefer watching the song online rather than waiting for it to come on television. Farhan and Vir introduced first the audio and then the video of the song to the media and audience last night.

Guess Men always turn into Bachelors’ when the wife is away!”

According to Pritish Nandy, Producer, Harry’s Not A Brahmachari is that situation that every man, specially married men, would love to be a part of. It’s wicked, it’s fun and it’s crazy! Most importantly, it shows every man how to have a fabulous time minus and despite the Mrs!

Interestingly the album of the film has a song for every situation and phase of life.

Harrys’ Not a Brahmachari is the singlehood/bachelor phase.

Next up for release is the love and proposal song, the wedding blues song follows and then understandably one hits the apology phase and finally even a lullaby!

Produced by Balaji Motion Pictures & Pritish Nandy Communications and Directed by Saket Chaudhary Shaadi Ke Side/Effects releases on February 28.

Jaipur Literature Festival on Day 2.

Prasoon read out poems, sang songs, and created such a craze among the audience that he was literally mobbed at the book signing session. He opened the session by telling everyone how, after the movie Taare Zameen Par was released and the song Maa became famous, many fathers complained to him. “I had lots of letters from dads. They told me ‘Yeh kya hai, aapne pita ke sang anyay kiya hai. Pita bhi pyaar karte hain apne bachchon se,’ and that led me to write a poem for dads.” It was a poem so poignant that even after he finished it, the audience took a moment to applaud.

But then, that should be no surprise for someone who has been writing poems since he was 15, and had a book to his name when 17. “But then I realized I could not make a living out of writing poetry, and so I began to write Bollywood songs,” he says.

Prasoon was here last time too, and for him, coming here has a specific purpose. “In a world where there is so much noise, here is a place where things which are murmurs of life – I call poetry murmurs of life – and in this high decibel level of noise, there is somebody giving a platform for those words that buzz in your head, want to hold discussions and hear about poetry and literature, and I think it is my responsibility to be here and talk to the people who love my work,” says Prasoon, adding, “Also, this is special for me, as in I wrote Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, which is my first full Bollywood film. I mean yes, I have part-written scripts before this, but this film is mine from concept to scripting, dialogue, screenplay, songs – as a writer, it is my first complete package. And from the mails I have received from regular people, I know that now there is a curiosity to know more about my work, and people wrote to me and said they would be disappointed if I didn’t come, so I came.”

Prasoon says he was very caught up, and had to change his travel plans to accommodate JLF. “I have come here not as a speaker, but as a student. There are many people here whom I myself look up to. And I know that it is not like watching TV – coming here is a conscious effort, people have to make an effort, travel to come here, it is cold, but they still have to be here in the morning. So it involved a bit of sacrifice, and that proves the intent,” says Prasoon.

At the session yesterday, he spoke about his book and the forms of poetry in languages that are slowly getting marginalized, like the Pahari language (he hails from Uttrakhand), and he recited poems from his book, Sunshine Lanes. But, we asked him, for someone who writes songs for Bollywood, is a scriptwriter, a lyricist, an adman who used to write jingles before that, wasn’t he always part of popular poetry? What is Bollywood song but popular poetry (even though some songs today might not qualify)? Prasoon laughs and says, “We’re talking of poetry as an art form that has its acceptance, versus what form we are consuming it in. As a writer, I don’t feel satisfied unless I reach out to people and explain what I have written – it is this need in me to see people resonate with the thoughts inside me, whether they agree with them or not.And I feel film songs allow me to do that.”

But, he says, “I felt people are not reading poetry, but that I can still reach out to them through film songs, and so I, like I said, began to write songs. Bollywood plays a very big role, provided you have that right mix of literature in it, the right people doing it. We had some great litterateurs like Sahir Ludhianvi and Kaifi Azmi at one time, and they extended themselves to Bollywood, to people, and I think Bollywood shapes popular culture, builds popular consciousness and imagination. But the kind of language it exists in today, one day it will be unimaginable to push it away from literature – take the way we use language in common parlance in literature today, it would be impossible to think of that without the influence of Bollywood. So I think it’s important that a lot of literary people join Bollywood. If the inflow of literature into Bollywood stops, Bollywood will become very passe. There has to be a flow from literature to Bollywood, and every time this happens, we have always had good cinema coming out to reach out to the audience. And I think of late, we see less of that. Bollywood has to borrow from literature, as Bollywood is a great popular platform, and literature should use Bollywood to reach out. There has to be a symbiotic relationship between the two. Only then will the masses have the best of both the worlds, and I have always felt it is my duty to give the audience the best, be it as a writer of poems, or as a writer of Bollywood films.”

Says designer Kirti Rathore, “My professional journey with Vivek started 2 years ago when Vivek himself voluntarily supported the HIV cause during the Rajasthan fashion week where he walked with 15 special kids on the ramp in Jaipur ..He is truly an actor with a golden heart “. Adding that, “I had taken up a polo theme on the ramp which was something very unusual ..Vivek walked the ramp with 14 orphan children .Vivek has been working on social causes himself was the best choice as we both connect on the social front”.

Jimmy Shergill’s Tweets On ‘Darr@The Mall’ Sets Amuses Everyone

Actor Jimmy Shergill, who will be next seen playing a security officer in upcoming horror flick ‘Darr@The Mall’, found an amusing way to deal with the exhaustion on the sets of the film, which was mostly shot at night at various malls in the city.

Jimmy said, “During the night shoots, we all used to be sleepy and exhausted as we had to go about our daily routine during the day too. So, whenever I used to see members of the cast catching a nap in a chair or something, I would click their pictures and put them up on social networking sites, with funny comments accompanying them about how the director was making us work so hard.” Apparently, Jimmy’s friends and associates found this quite amusing and they got back to him to tell him about how much they enjoyed the funny tweets.

The film, which is directed by Pavan Kripalani and produced by MSM Motion Pictures and Contiloe Entertainment, also stars Nushrat Bharucha, Arif Zakaria, Asif Basra, Nivedita Bhattacharya, Shraddha Kaul and Neeraj Sood and the film is slated to release on February 21.

Pavan Kripalani Gives ‘Darr@The Mall’ Cast A Crash Course

In Claustrophobia

After making a successful directorial debut with ‘Ragini MMS’, Pavan Kripalani will be coming to scare everyone with his next film ‘Darr@The Mall’ and it seems that the cast of the film had to undergo a lot of hardships for the film.

It seems that Pavan actually made his actors sit in a dark room for around 10 hours without any cell-phones or books, just so that they could go through what their characters go through in the film. A source said, “He actually cooped them up in a dark room for almost 10 hours, with no cell phone or books. All they were given was food and a performance coach would scare them with sudden noises or appearances. The purpose apparently was to get them to experience fear and claustrophobia, so that they would know the right expressions during the shooting of the film.”

Produced by MSM Motion Picture and Contiloe Entertainment, ‘Darr@The Mall’ stars Jimmy Shergill, Nushrat Bharucha, Arif Zakaria, Asif Basra, Nivedita Bhattacharya, Neeraj Sood and other actors.

When the common man wakes up and joins politics, things change…

(Photos by Siddhant Gill)

Actor Rajpal Yadav, director Vivek Budakoti and producer Rajita Sharma came together for a promotional event of their Pied Piper at Oshiwara, Andheri West.

The recent wake of the AAP has a startling resemblance to Vivek Budakoti’s film Pied Piper based on a common man who suddenly becomes the Pied Piper to the entire nation with his simplistic views and his grass root approach despite the ambiguity on consensus by his critiques.

“We conceived and wrote the film before the emergence of Aam Aadami Party as a creative critique of a democratic circus on display in the current scenario of the country. If you must, then you can find a Kejirwal in my film just like you could find a Martin Luther King or a Mahatma Gandhi in a different avtaar but please carry your sense of humor along. We mean no offense to any ideology, just a satirical approach towards them!” says director Vivek Budakoti.

Rajpal Yadav plays a washerman who becomes the leader to millions of people with the fact that he has no assets to declare, he is clear in his thought and doesn’t mind calling an ass an ass!

Who else can essay the common man better than Rajpal Yadav, who with his common man looks and his humble background has risen to become one of Bollywood’s cherished actors. With that background, the character seemed so perfect.

Pied Piper has traveled across the globe and has over 11 prestigious Festival selections and won the Best Film Award at the recent Delhi International Film Festival.

‘Darr @ the Mall’ markets Horror like never before

MSM Motion Pictures and Contiloe Entertainment have come together to produce ‘Darr @ the Mall’, a spine-chilling horror film. The producers are leaving no stone unturned in reaching out to the audience and getting them to experience the horror.

The marketing campaign of the film started off with the cast visiting a suburban mall. The team had the primary objective of delivering a clear and focused message. They intended to introduce the mall as a haunted one and ask people if they would shop there.

The digital campaign of the film clearly communicates the idea of ‘shopping in a haunted mall’, which caught the audience’s attention. The marketing team came up with a brilliant plan of ‘Would you shop Here’ for their second trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3IxQTq5-zFI&noredirect=1 ), spoofing popular e-commerce websites. The result of the ingenious idea has been a massive one million views within just two days of the launch of the trailer. No mean feat at all. Evidently, the marketers have crafted a well presented campaign which has succeeded in building up the viewers’ curiosity, to a crescendo.

The film stars Jimmy Sheirgill, Nushrat Bharucha, Arif Zakaria, Asif Basra, Nivedita Bhattacharya, Shraddha Kaul and Neeraj Sood in pivotal roles. Directed by Pavan Kripalani of ‘Ragini MMS’ fame, ‘Darr @ the Mall’ will release this Friday, 24th of February, 2014.

Ranveer and Arjun wanted to interchange roles

Gunday is a story about two friends – Bala and Bikram.

Arjun is essaying the role of Bala and Ranveer of Bikram.

The trailer of the film has got a fantastic response. Both the boys have been appreciated for their bold and brazen acting. However, in the film their characteristics are varied.

The director, Ali Abbas Zafar gave the duo Ranveer and Arjun a joint narration for the film without divulging the characters they would be essaying

On their own accord they two preferred to play each other’s role

Arjun connected to the character of Bikram where as Ranveer was thrilled to hear the story from Bala’s point of view.

Ranveer connected with Bala’s character who is more flamboyant, boisterous and outspoken. Much like Ranveer himself in real life.

Where as Bikram’s character is slightly held back. He is in a sense like the angry young man.

When Ali Abbas revealed that he would like them to play the respective roles…. Ranveer tried to reason with him that Bala is more him and the audiences have seen and loved him like that.

However Ali was sure he saw Bikram in Ranveer and vice versa. He convinced the duo to give it a shot and after a little conversation the two gave in to their director’s vision.

Ranveer and Arjun are both fantastic actors and have delivered to the gallery in Gunday.

Everyone during shooting or who have seen portions of the film during editing cannot imagine the duo otherwise.

Ali Abbas Zafar says, “It was obvious that both Ranveer and Arjun would want choose to do roles that were closest to their own personalities. We had to convince them to do the opposite role.”

Bollywood 2014 – Making movies with a difference!

Bollywood releases a multitude of movies each year, but only a few make it to the list of movies which change the way we look at Indian Cinema. These movies are born out of passion, leave a deep impression and become classics. They are remembered for their connection with the audience, leaving an impression on them, for years to come.

Emotions got rolling in 2012 when movies like English Vinglish, Barfi!, Kahaani, Vicky Donor and Gangs of Wasseypur hit the theatres. Audiences were talking about them for days, even weeks after their release. English Vinglish was about a woman and a mother, played by Sridevi, who joined an English speaking course to gain confidence and self-respect. Despite raising eyebrows, Vicky Donor, a movie about a sperm donor, cut through the clutter to reach out to all age groups possible. Barfi showed that two people need not speak, to fall in love with each other. It was also appreciated for showing the physically challenged in a positive light. Gangs of Wasseypur, referred to as a modern cult film by many, was about the coal mafia – three crime families and the power struggle and violence between them. All these movies garnered praise and appreciation, from one and all.

2013 was adorned by cinematic endeavours which were worth every moment spent watching them. There were movies like Kai Po Che, The Lunchbox, Special 26, Ship of Theseus and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, which were worth passing down to the next generation. While Kai Po Che was an account of how friendships are transformed due to communal violence, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag was a spectacularly shot cinematic account of the illustrious life of Commonwealth and Asian Games gold medallist and army veteran Milkha Singh. Ship of Theseus was about the stories of three people – a photographer, who is disheartened with her photography post her cornea transplant, a monk with a resolve to ban animal testing in India and a stockbroker who takes it into his own hands, to find the person who received the kidney of a poor bricklayer. The Lunchbox was a story of lives led in fantasy and reality, and how the two became one.

2014 promises to raise the bar even higher, with interesting content and an extraordinary way of presenting it. The five movies to look forward to, in 2014, have compelling storylines woven with a talented cast under reputed banners.

Hawaa Hawaai, a movie about those who dare to dream, has been directed by Amol Gupte and stars Saquib Saleem and Partho Gupte. It is Amol Gupte’s next after the heart-warming Stanley ka Dabba, and this time, he takes on the world of in-line skating with kids from various strata of society. Hawaa Hawaai will hit theatres on 18th April, 2014. Queen, the Kangana Ranaut starrer is directed by Vikas Bahl. It is scheduled for release on February 28, 2014. The movie is about Rani, played by Kangana Ranaut, who has been left at the altar and goes, all alone, on a trip which was supposed to be her honeymoon. She finds herself, wins friends and has the time of her life doing it.

With Homi Adajania of Being Cyrus fame, as the director, Finding Fanny Fernandes will star stellar actors Deepika Padukone, Arjun Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah, Dimple Kapadia, Pankaj Kapur in pivotal roles. It seems to be a deliciously witty tale of a bunch of oddball characters from Goa, out on a road trip. The movie is lined up for a 4th July release. Bombay Velvet, a story of Mumbai, is directed by Anurag Kashyap, with Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma playing the lead. Bombay Velvet is a star studded and exciting take on the life and times of Mumbai and how it became the metropolis it is today, charting its course from 1950s. It will release on Christmas, this year. Filmistan, directed by Nitin Kakkar, has already been doing the rounds at various prestigious international film festivals, and looks hopeful. All these movies offer cinema from a refreshingly new perspective – in terms of the content, raw emotions and expressions.

Renowned production houses such as Fox Star Studios, Viacom18 Motion Pictures and UTV Motion Pictures are investing in movies which strum our heart-strings. The winds of change are here. 2012 and 2013 showed us movies which made a difference, which bent the rules a bit, and gave us unforgettable cinema. Bollywood, as we know, has transformed, and the movies releasing this year will only reiterate that. 2014 looks bright for Bollywood, it looks promising.

The director of Kamasutra 3D reacted on Sherlyn Chopra’s statement in Delhi of getting the director gang raped on the public forum – Twitter.

Rupesh Paul said, “It is quite unfortunate that in this unrest of rapes going around everywhere and especially Delhi, Sherlyn still is unaware of the meaning of rape and the pain that the victim goes through in this. For her, it is yet another sexual term which can be used at anytime and anywhere. Rape is a heinous crime and a political term which involves power and violence. ”Sherlyn Chopra, don’t joke about rape at least in Delhi”

I still wonder is it the same Sherlyn Chopra who came and begged to me to have her in the movie when we were to replace for her act of disclosing the first promo shoot video of Kamasutra 3D online.
