Itsy bitsy teenie weenie, Evelyn shines in pink bikini!
Critical reviews not withstanding, Evelyn Sharma has got on to a roaring start this year with Divya Khosla Kumar’s Yaariyan. Her pink-bikini number Sunny Sunny with Yo Yo Singh is a rage at discotheques and parties. Of course, the actress is elated.
The song is a blockbuster in India, but Evelyn couldn’t believe her ears, when she had a fan drool over her on the streets of Germany. On a visit to her hometown, the half-German half-Indian Evelyn sparkled with a broad smile, when a chap on the road started trailing her and singing her Yaariyan number Sunny Sunny.
While she blushed and walked away, she regrets not chatting with him. “He would surely have been a Bollywood-loving NRI since he was singing fluently in Hindi,” she says with a twinkle still in her eyes. “It was out of the blue and totally flattering.”
Moreover, Evelyn realized how big a hit the number has emerged with teens. “I get a high as I see its zooming popularity,” she admits.
Last year, the actress made a mark with key roles in hits like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani with Ranbir Kapoor and Nautanki Saala with Ayushmann Khurrana. Then a month ago, she hit fashion headlines with a sensuous short film called In Frost on the Fashion TV website.
Recently, Evelyn also found herself in the midst of a political controversy after she performed for the Saifai Mahotsav festival in Etawah district, Uttar Pradesh. Over 68 per cent Indians do not support Devyani Khobragade, say she should face trial
An online survey conducted on various social media by Indian content website Newz66.com has thrown up some interesting facts about the Devyani Khobragade episode. Firstly, over 68 per cent of respondents surveyed online do not support Indian diplomat Devyani Khobragade (formerly posted at the Indian Mission in New York) and feel she is a disgrace to the nation and hold her (and her IFS cronies) solely responsible for the damaged Indo-US relations.
Secondly, most Indians surveyed opined that the Indian Foreign Service officer Devyani Khobragade – supported by some influential officials have misled the Delhi High Court, Indian authorities and other judicial bodies in India. The indictment document presented before the Grand Jury in New York which clearly states that Devyani Khobragade allegedly made different statements and representations to Indian courts and completely opposite or different statements to the US authorities including US embassy officials supports this claim.
56 per cent respondents opined that the Delhi High Court should take suo motto cognizance of the US indictment document which claims that Devyani Khobragade mislead the Indian courts and order an inquiry keeping in mind the rights of the lesser-privileged domestic help and her family who are also Indian citizens.
Devyani Khobragade was fully aware of the US laws and their applicability to Indian diplomats serving in the US and did everything possible to circumvent it. However, when the tables were turned, she turned to her IFS cronies and the IFS lobby shedding crocodile tears and raking up patriotic feelings and emotion to gain support of the Indian populace, forcing senior Indian politicians from different political parties to act in the way they did damaging Indo-US relations.
The survey was conducted over the last one month on several social media platforms including groups on Facebook like Goa Speaks, Goa Plus and other well-populated Facebook groups with a participation of a wide economic and demographic section of society. According to a press release issued by Newz66.com, over 108,000 responses were analysed over a period of one month before arriving at any conclusions.
About 83 per cent respondents opined that the US should have declared her persona non grata and asked her to leave the United States instead of arresting her (and the subsequent drama that followed) after evacuating the immediate family of her domestic help in Delhi.
Says Flynn Remedios, Editor and Publisher of Newz66.com, “Like most Indians, we were dismayed by the treatment meted out to Indian diplomat Devyani Khobragade by the US authorities (which included the arrest, strip and body cavity search) and were prompt to launch a Facebook page in her support. However, after studying the case which unfolded over a period of 2-3 weeks and the responses were got from viewers on Facebook, Newz66.com decided to ascertain the mood of the Aam Aadmi via a survey. The verdict of Indian Mango people is very clear: Devyani should face trial either in a US or Indian court and prove her innocence. Till then, she should not be accorded any special favours or immunity from prosecution. What Devyani Khobragade allegedly did was unbecoming of an official representative of the Indian nation and that too in the US of A.”

Strong Indian contingent for SCMM 2014
Defending champions Lynghkoi Binning and Lalita Babbar will lead the Indian elite fields for the full marathon, among the men and women respectively, in the 11th Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon to be flagged off from CST on Sunday, January 19, 2014.
The event, Asia’s biggest marathon has attracted the cream of India’s long distance runners, all vying for a piece of the overall prize money as well as separate Indian prize fund, which will see the Indian full marathon winners getting richer by Rs 5 lakh each.
Binning, a three-time winner here will face opposition from the fastest athlete in the field, Ram Singh Yadav, returning after a one-year break. Ram Singh, who clocked 2:16.59 in 2012, to also qualify for the London Olympics, has run sparingly last year, preparing for this event and will be the surprise package on Sunday as he aims to better his personal best. Binning, who won in 201, 20111 and 2013, has a fastest time of 2:20.12 on this course and he too is looking to better his time and get close to his personal best of 2:17.33.
The other big names in the fray are Elam Singh of ASI, Pune, who has a PB of 2:18.27, Karan Singh, V L Dangi and Budha Ram, all capable of running below 2:21. Sanvroo Yadav, who ran a strong race while winning the Vasai Virar Marathon in October with a time of 2:21, is also among the contenders and so are Arvind Kumar Yadav and K C Ramu.
A total of 28 elite Indian full marathoners will take the starter’s flag.
The women’s full marathon has been dominated by Lalita Babbar for the last two years and she will be aiming for a hat-trick as she lines up on Sunday. Babbar will face competition from Vijay Mala Patil and Rohini Raut, who finished second and third, respectively, last year. The women’s field also has names like Neelam Rajput, Bhagwati Devi, Anisa Devi and M Sudha, among others, while making their debut will be Manisha Salunkhe, Rashmi Gurnule and Supriya Patil.
The man’s half marathon also has a strong Indian contingent, with 2012 winner Shoji Mathew, BC Tilak, Indrajeet Patel, Yogesh Sardesai, Ajay Bir Singh and Vishram Meena among the contenders.
In the women’s half marathon, the battle is expected to be between Sudha Singh and Kavita Raut, with Monika Raut, Swati Gadhwe and Seema the other notable names in the fray.

Ranvir Shorey does the real heropanti
‘On The Ramp’, the first venture by producer Nitin Arora and Rajeev Bhatia had a few problems during the shoot in Delhi. One of the leading ladies, Saidah Jules was being stalked and she was clueless about it. When he started passing on some really nasty comments that she wasn`t comfortable with, he was asked to leave but, he didn`t.
According to the sources, Saidah along with Ranvir Shorey and Urvashi Sharma were shooting in Delhi. There, a man was following her like a shadow. Though, Bollywood has many stalker stories, this one certainly takes the cake. This guy, used to slide in through the threshold, unnoticed by the vigilant eyes of the security guards, He would follow her to hotel and then, from her hotel to the sets.
Saidah had no idea about it. It was during the shooting of a pivotal scene on the location, when he passed a few lewd comments and was seen trying to get as close as possible. This went on for some time. Saidah was growing more and more discomforted because of it. She had to give several takes. And because the scene formed the climax of the movie, it had to be shot with perfection. Ranvir the mind reader that he is, noticed it and spoke to her. He had a word with Nitin about it. They asked her to get into the vanity van, and let the men sort it out their way.
Nitin, was keeping a close tab on him, and as soon as he felt that he had passed the thin line, together he and Ranvir confronted him. Turned out that he wasn’t even a part of the shoot and got in somehow. They were visibly aghast because of the incompetence of their guards. After a few minutes of convincing the incorrigible lad, they knew it was fruitless. The event took a abysmal turn and after a heated argument, they threw him out. They even asked the security guard to keep a close watch, and not to let hooligans intrude their shoots.
Saidah was taken aback by the whole episode and had to be convinced that the guy was kicked out. After much persuasion, the shot was perfected. Later on she thanked Ranvir and Nitin for their presence of mind and even took them out for dinner. But, this time, no one was following them.

Shoojit-John to score a hattrick with a football film
Mumbai,10th January,2014:-After their glorious coming together in Vicky Donor and Madras Cafe, the hit jodi of producer John Abraham and director Shoojit Sircar are going for a hattrick this time. With a film on football, a game both John and Shoojit can’t have enough of. That too set more than a century back.
Written by Gulaab Gang director Soumik Sen, Shoojit’s next with John is based on famous football club Mohun Bagan’s victory against East Yorkshire Regiment back in 1911. By beating the foreigners, Mohun Bagan became the first native team to have won the IFA Shield. What’s more, the Indian players played barefeet wearing dhotis while the British team wore boots and shorts.
Says Shoojit: “We both love football and so when I sent over the script to John, I knew he would love it and he did. We are just prepping for the film now and will only start early next year. It will be shot almost entirely in Bengal.”
