Manan and Suniketa – The Best Buds on DID 4!

From pulling each other’s hair to laughing out loud together, the two DID 4 contestants have turned best of friends while competing with each other…

Manan and Suniketa.jpgCompeting to win the trophy as the best dancer of Dance India Dance Season 4, 17 year old Delhi boy Manan and Kolkata tigress Suniketa Bhore seem to have bonded despite all the competition that prevails. Being the youngest contestants in the Top 18, the two are forever seen fighting and pulling each other’s hair each time they are on the sets of DID. Whenever the two get down to rehearsing together, they end up teasing each other endlessly, invariably ending up in a wrestling bout. Fed up with their ways, Master Shruti was seen complaining about how the two never miss out on single chance to pull each other down and get into a fight over trivial issues every 15 minutes and how Suniketa bursts out into tears every 3 hours because of Manan’s leg-pulling. Despite all the bickering, the two are inseparable and cannot do without each other!

Hearing Master Shruti complain about the kids, Grandmaster Mithun Da called the two kids on the stage. Asking Suniketa what irks her most about Manan. Suniketa told Dada how Manan pulls her hair all the time. Giving Suniketa a chance to vent her anger out, Grandmaster Mithun Da asked Suniketa to hit him as much as she wants today and close the matter once and for all. After a nice battle on stage, Suniketa and Manan said sorry to each other and promised to never fight again. Just as Dada heaved a sigh of relief, the two were back with their antics!

While the competition is getting tougher by the day, these kids have learnt to forget their rivalry and just have a blast! They may give each other a run for their money while they perform on stage, but backstage, they’re the best of friends and immensely fond of each other … ! Salaamat rahe dostaana inka!

Has Master Mudassar found love on DID 4?

Sharing an amazing chemistry with show host Ishita Sharma,

Master Mudassar seems to be on cloud 9 these days…

Jay Bhanushali, Ishita Sharma and Mudassar Khan on the sets of DID 4.JPGSeason 4 of Dance India Dance not only introduced us to three new masters but a gorgeous new host Ishita Sharma. The Bollywood starlet-turned-DID host has been charming the socks off everyone on the sets with her winsome smile and sunny, affable disposition … and the man hit the hardest by her high-voltage smile is none other than Master Mudassar. Ishita seems to have found a special place in the young choreographer’s heart. Ishita is flattered week after week by the compliments Master Mudassar steadily dishes out to her.

Not missing a single chance of shaking a leg with her on the stage, Ishita and Mudassar often team up for a jig! Their dancing as a pair is complimented by one and all on the sets, including Grandmaster – Mithun Da. Bringing in a twist this week, Mithun Da was seen asking Jay and Ishita to anchor the show holding hands, while Master Mudassar suddenly popped up on the stage to ensure that Jay doesn’t bond too much with Ishita. Taking a cue from Ishita and Master Mudassar, Jay did not seem to miss his chance of having fun and asked Master Shruti if the two of them could instead dance as couple just like Master Mudassar and Ishita do each week.

When questioned about his new-found “affection” for Ishita by Grandmaster Mithun da, the coy Master Mudassar refused to answer. While Master Mudassar would want to remain mum, his actions speak louder than words!

Royal Enfield introduces the spirit of café racing to India with the all-new internationally acclaimed Continental GT

~ The lightest, fastest and most powerful Royal Enfield in production, the Continental GT has been designed ground-up as the definitive classic sports motorcycle~

~ The Continental GT creates a new category in the mid-size motorcycle segment where Royal Enfield aims for global leadership~

Goa, November 26, 2013: In an era where consumers are increasingly experiencing life through virtual interfaces, Royal Enfield introduces its philosophy of bringing back uncomplicated, approachable, hands-on ‘pure motorcycling’ experience with the all-new Continental GT that brings the core idea of café racing from the 1960s roaring to India. Designed ground up, the Continental GT is a highly responsive and nimble motorcycle with a lot of useable power and torque for the 21st century motorcyclist – one that is outstanding fun to ride at regular road going speeds. Available in the signature GT red and a brand new shade of GT yellow, the bike will retail for Rs. 2, 05,026 lakhs, on-road in Delhi and for Rs. 2, 14, 043 lakhs on-road in Mumbai.

“The Continental GT is inspired by the café racers of the 1960s in its form and simplicity; and it captures the feeling of freedom, fun and responsiveness that riders were trying to achieve then and brings it into the modern context. It is the definitive classic sports motorcycle to have. In the best café racer traditions, the bike is simple and devoid of the excesses that characterise the cruisers and the superbikes of today. At the same time it has been designed ground up, incorporating both traditional craftsmanship and relevant modern techniques at our state-of-the-art new plant in Oragadam to deliver a deeply engaging motorcycling experience that is unlike any other,” said Mr. Siddhartha Lal, Managing Director and CEO, Eicher Motors Limited (the parent company of Royal Enfield).

“In today’s post-performance motorcycling age where power is no longer the most important attribute for an enjoyable ride, design and responsiveness have taken the lead over sheer speed. There is a revival of simpler, evocative and classic bikes that engage the rider. As the world re-awakens to the sound of modern café racers, Royal Enfield is bringing back an icon that introduces the spirit of one of the most popular motorcycling cultures in history with the Continental GT – the lightest, fastest and most powerful Royal Enfield in production”, he further added.

At the heart of the Continental GT is the tried-and-tested single-cylinder air-cooled Unit Construction Engine (UCE) which has been upgraded to 535cc with a re-mapped ECU and lower inertia to deliver that extra punch and responsiveness that is so essential to its café racer character.

Years of chassis development has resulted in a motorcycle that is highly responsive and great fun to ride, thanks to the Continental GT’s razor sharp handling and superior rigidity. Also, the ride is super smooth across most road conditions and the motorcycle responds naturally and instantaneously to the rider’s body. Royal Enfield worked closely with UK-based Harris Performance to create the bike’s new chassis, which delivers this authentic café racer ride and handling via a nimble double cradle frame as well as new 41mm front forks and twin gas-charged Paioli rear shockers. The Pirelli Sport Demon tyres provide excellent grip, and the Brembo brakes give outstanding response and stopping distance to this meticulously designed motorcycle.

As a result, according to the test riders who put the Continental GT through its paces around various types of roads and at classic tracks such as the Castle Combe Circuit in Wiltshire, the motorcycle remained true to its glorious café racer roots and delivers a thrilling ride. It is built for burn-ups.

Café racers of the 1960s and Royal Enfield’s own 1965 Continental GT – the first mass produced café racer of its time – in particular were the main design inspiration for this motorcycle. It has a stretched out low-profile fuel tank with knee recesses for the authentic period café racer look. Style meets functionality when genuine clip-on bars conspire with the flat sculpted racing seat with contrast stitching and bump stop along with rearset foldable footrests to urge the rider to tuck his elbows in neatly and get into a sporty yet ergonomic position for spirited riding. Trimmed front and rear mudguards add to the clean lines of the Continental GT and an upswept exhaust allow more ground clearance when cornering at speed. Royal Enfield worked closely with Xenophya Design of UK to get the overall look and proportions just right and to ensure that each detail on this motorcycle is well crafted so that it will become a modern classic in its own right.

“The involving new Continental GT evokes a sense of nostalgia and aims to revive the mood of romantic and free spirited optimism of the swinging ‘60s. It is built to be a motorcycle that insists on being ridden frequently,” said Mr. Lal. “It is a no-nonsense bike that is easy to maintain and own, and one that turns heads without exception. Novices and veteran riders will appreciate the complete control of this bike; the experience of the Continental GT is pure motorcycling at its best, much like in the heydays of café racing,” he added.

Café racing as a culture evolved during the 1960s and involved motorcycle enthusiasts using stripped down, customised, fast motorcycles to race between transport cafes. These sporty, souped- up motorcycles gave birth to the café racer genre. Light, powerful and fast, low set handlebars and rear set footpegs lending to a crouched down riding posture were the hallmarks of these café racers. They were also simple machines that could be customised easily to make them more responsive and quicker.

Complementing the Continental GT is a range of ‘Burn-up Wear’ – well-crafted, meticulously-detailed, purpose built motorcycling clothing and accessories. This line has been crafted from Royal Enfield rider experiences, in collaboration with veterans of riding apparel. The detailing is a nod to classic motorcycling clothing. Each article has heritage you can see and performance that you can’t do without.

Leading the pack is a textile riding jacket with CE approved removable protectors, high visibility reflective piping, removable winter liners and ventilation. Additionally, the GT Brando Leather Jacket is inspired by heritage styling but with thoughtful and helpful features for present day riders. There is also a special edition co-branded leather jacket designed by the iconic Lewis Leathers based on their Lightning series. Durability, safety and comfort are the hallmark of our half-face AGV helmets featuring stunning Royal Enfield vintage graphics and insignia. Bringing up the rear are Ton-up T-shirts, Continental GT T-shirts and pit shirts that are high on style but low on maintenance.

The Continental GT range also includes a line of all-weather ankle length shoes that combine contemporary style with signature racing features. Long and short leather riding gloves are beautifully constructed and wear well. High abrasion resistant riding trousers have removable hip and knee protectors to complete the Continental GT range of apparels and accessories.

The Continental GT is a global product from Royal Enfield that adds a new segment in mid-size motorcycling.

“Aptly timed, the Continental GT is an important catalyst in realising our ambition of achieving global leadership in the mid-size motorcycle market. We believe there is an interesting space for our kind of motorcycling with bikes that are holistic in their approach, and are great fun to ride in cities and beyond the urban landscape as well”, Mr Lal said.

Every Continental GT will roll out of Royal Enfield’s state-of-the art new manufacturing facility in Oragadam near Chennai (Madras) which became operational in April 2013. With the surge in demand for Royal Enfield motorcycles in recent years, the overall production capacity has been increased to 175,000 motorcycles for 2013 and 250,000 motorcycles in 2014. The new facility has been designed with a master plan that allows Royal Enfield to scale production capacity to 500,000 motorcycles in the future. Royal Enfield’s new plant has also been benchmarked to achieve the highest level of quality and productivity.

The 2013 Continental GT is a machine with a story, a nod to motorcycling’s finest hour and the best expression of a cultural phenomenon that has simply refused to fade away – the café racer.

A part of Amar Chitra Katha’s graphic biographic series on visionaries, Verghese Kurien, is a story of inspiration and excellence about the genius behind Amul and the success of milk cooperatives in India. Targeting the young adults in the age group 10 -15 and above, Amar Chitra Katha’s new title narrates the story of an inspiring role model from Indian heritage. “The inspirational life of Verghese Kurien is the story of visionary and his unshakeable belief in the primacy of human development as the foundation of a progressive nation. He was a pioneer, a far sighted entrepreneur and a disciplined man with a broad vision. There could be no better time than his 92nd birth anniversary, to launch this new Amar Chitra Katha title”, said Mr. Vijay Sampath, CEO, ACK Media during the launch event.

“The sheer enormity of Dr. Kurien’s monumental achievements is truly amazing. He is one of the few nation-builders who contributed immensely towards shaping the future of post-independence India. His remarkable life and achievements are an embodiment of his faith in the ability of the common man to exercise control over his destiny. This faith helped him to create world-class Institutions that become shining examples of excellence. Father of ‘White Revolution’ in India; doyen of dairy cooperative movement; institution-builder par excellence who ushered in a socio-economic revolution in rural India, Dr. Verghese Kurien has been instrumental in transforming the lives of 15 million farmer families across the country”, said Shri R S Sodhi, Managing Director, GCMMF.

“Dr. Verghese Kurien is one of the most important role models from modern India. He worked tirelessly to empower people from rural markets and make them self-sufficient. He put India on top of the world in milk production. When we started writing his story it was a difficult task trying to edit all his achievements and doing justice to this great man. Dr Kurien’s daughter, Nirmala, and R. S. Sodhi, Managing Director of GCCMF gave us a lot of support, in terms of reading material, photographs and information. It has been a learning experience for the team and we hope that through this graphic biography we are able to tell the story in a way that is inspirational to young people” said Ms. Reena Puri, Editor, Amar Chitra Katha.

A graphic biography of 32 pages, AmarChitra Katha’s new title, Verghese Kurien-The Man with the ‘Billion-Litre’ Idea traces the story of late Verghes Kurien when he stepped down from the train on to the dusty platform in Anand, Gujarat. A true visionary who not only changed his destiny but that of thousands of small, marginalized farmers who, until then, had only known exploitation and deprivation. A die-hard patriot, Kurien was committed to the co-operative cause. He put the milk industry in the hands of the farmers, believing firmly that with ownership comes responsibility and great success. He also believed in the empowerment of women so that entire families progressed and became economically secure. The story of Dr Kurien is the story of Amul. It is the story of Operation Flood, the ‘billion-litre idea’ that set India on the top of the world map for milk production

“My father, Dr. VergheseKurien always said that true development is the development of men and women. Through the dairy cooperative movement, which my father championed throughout his life, he helped our farmers to obtain a steady source of income, enabling them to improve their standard of living. His relentless hard work has helped to generate gainful employment for the most vulnerable section of our population including small and marginal farmers, landless laborers and rural women. It is largely thanks to the efforts of Dr. Verghese Kurien that women of rural India have some measure of economic independence, through dairying,” said Ms. Nirmala Kurien, daughter of Dr. Verghese Kurien.

Aamir Khan had to be on medication to keep nausea down for days when the actor was shooting for Dhoom 3’s song, Malang.

The song has been shot at a huge height of about 80 feet and Aamir was to rotate 60 times in a minute for the same.

Aamir plays the role of a gymnast in Dhoom 3 and this was required. It is the first time the actor will be doing a thing like that. However, the perfectionist that he is, the actor willingly took it up without complaints and wanted to do it just the right way.

It took the team about 15 days to complete the shoot of the song and Aamir Khan was on medication for those many days. The medication was to help him keep nausea down. As he was at a huge height, taking turns, it is human to feel nauseated.

Also to make sure all is well, the makers of the movie specially called a doctor, who works with gymnasts, to be on the sets to help Aamir.

Dhoom 3 is a high on energy song. In terms of scale or budgets it is going to be massive. The song is around the central theme of gymnastic and will have 200 dancers in the frame.

Spokesperson of Aamir Khan says, “The song was being shot at about 80 feet from the ground. To do this, Aamir was on special medication to be able to perform at ease without major effects on his health”

Sonali Bendre’s sprint to the top!

The actress rushed to receive her award when she heard her show’s name being announced while walking the Red Carpet…

IMG_0124.jpgHaving bagged various awards during her career in Bollywood, Sonali Bendre’s excitement knew no bounds when her show – India’s Best Draamebaaz, had been nominated in the category of Best Non-fiction show. Walking the Red Carpet with her husband – Goldie Behl, Sonali was the happiest to have spotted her friends. Meeting Feroz Khan (Judge on DID 4) after a long time, Sonali was exchanging pleasantries with him just when India’s Best Draamebaaz was announced as the winner in the category. Hearing the news of her show winning an award, Sonali leaped and jumped from the Red carpet to receive the award for the show.

Getting onto the stage, Sonali was ever-ecstatic to be receiving the award on behalf of the makers of the show. Seeing Sonali get on to the stage, Ritwik Dhanjani, who was anchoring the award ceremony was quick to compliment her on how beautiful she looked that night without noticing Goldie Behl accosting her on stage. Soon as Ritwik noticed that Sonali is in company of her husband, Ritwik seemed embarrassed. Putting Ritwik’s embarrassment at ease, Goldie lapped up telling Ritwik that he knows he has a very pretty wife. Not missing the opportunity, Ritwik said, “Ma’m you look very pretty and I have been a big fan of yours and have always loved you.” While Sonali smiled at the compliment, Ritwik went red in the cheeks.

Taking away the award with Vivek Oberoi and the kids, Sonali along with the entire troupe of the show was seen celebrating the moment. We hope the sprint from Red carpet to the stage didn’t leave Sonali with a sore feet post the ceremony.
