Workshop on election expenditure monitoring and

Auditing and Accounts of Political Parties

· A workshop on “Election Expenditure Monitoring and Auditing and Accounts of Political Parties” was organised by Election Commission of India (ECI) on March 10, 2014.

·The above workshop was attended by representatives of ICAI, officials of ECI and Auditors of some of the Political Parties.

· A Presentation on “Guidance Note on Accounting and Auditing of Political Parties” was made by ICAI at the workshop which recommends:

Guidance note recommends that accrual basis of the accounting to be followed by the political parties in the preparation of their financial statements.

Guidance provide guidance that Accounting Standards issued by the ICAI to be followed to the extant relevant in preparation of financial statements by the Political Parties.

It recommends that General Purpose in Financial Statements of a political party should comprise of balance sheet, income and expenditure account, cash flow statement and notes forming part of financial statements.

· At the workshop “draft guidelines on transparency and accountability in party funds and election expenditure matter” were discussed.

· Some of the proposals from the aforesaid guidelines are as mentioned below:

Political Parties to follow the “Guidance Note on Accounting and Auditing of Political Parties” issued by the ICAI, in preparation of their financial statements.

Political Parties would be required to submit the commission a copy of audited annual accounts with the auditors report for each financial year before October 30 of each year.

· It was also informed at the workshop that Statement of Expenditure on Legislature Assembly (MP & MLA election) is to be certified by the Chartered Accountants (from now onwards).

· Financial Statements of political parties for the year 2013-14 are expected to be more qualitative.

In this regard CA.K.Raghu , President ICAI said”This endeavour of the ECI and ICAI will go a long way in establishing sound accounting principles for the Political Parties. This will ensure transparency & accountability in party funds and election expenditure.”

Vikram Bawa to talk ‘Fashion Films’ at LIFW 2014

Mumbai, 10th March, 2014: Ace photographer Vikram Bawa will be showcasing a special film on 12th March, Day 1 of the biggest annual fashion week of India, Lakme India Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2014. The fashion film, shot by Vikram with Queenie Singh as the model, for her jewellery brand ‘Jewels by Queenie’, will be the latest in the line of glamorously unique videos created by Vikram.

Shah Rukh Khan Clears His Calendar To Attend ‘Kochadaiiyaan’ Trailer And Music Launch in Chennai!

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who had paid a tribute to South megastar Thalaiva Rajinikanth in the foot-tapping ‘Lungi Dance’ number in ‘Chennai Express’, will be flying to Chennai to attend the trailer and music launch of Rajinikanth’s upcoming magnum opus ‘Kochadaiiyaan’ on March 9.

The actor will take a private charter and fly down to Chennai on Sunday morning – where he will join Deepika Padukone,A R Rahman and other dignitaries from across the country as they will attend the Tamil launch of magnum opus Kochadaiiyaan directed by Soundarya Rajnikanth Ashwin.

Says a source, “SRK has always been a huge fan of Mr. Rajinikanth’s work and even during the Global Awards, that was attended by Mr.Bachchan, A R Rahman and Rajinikanth himself, Shah Rukh was constantly raving about ‘Robot’ to the other dignitaries. When he heard about the launch, he immediately cleared his calendar despite having a hectic schedule and instructed his staff to arrange a private charter so that he could be present at the event in support of Thalaiva’s immortalization on celluloid.”

Confirming the news says director Soundarya Rajnikanth Ashwin, “Yes we are delighted that Shah Rukh Khan will be present on the occasion.He has always voiced his staunch support towards all of Mr.Rajinikanth’s work and has gone out of his way to be part of the launch”.

Shilpa Shetty Kundra Convinces Ayesha Khanna’s Parents To Allow ‘Dishkiyaaoon’ Intimate Scene

Shilpa Shetty Kundra who turns producer with action-thriller ‘Dishkiyaaoon’, recently proved that when it comes to crisis management, she is the go-to person on the film sets.

Sources claim that Shilpa flew to Delhi when she got to know that the parents of ‘Dishkiyaaoon’ actress Ayesha Khanna were reluctant to allow her to shoot for an intimate scene with her co-star Harman Baweja. After meeting the parents, Shilpa put their fears to rest and finally persuaded them to give their permission for the scene. Confirming the news, Shilpa said, “I could understand the apprehensions of the parents as this is Ayesha’s first film and so, I decided to meet her parents and have a chat with them about this.”

On her part, Ayesha Khanna said, “I am quite grateful to Shilpa ma’m for stepping in on my behalf and convincing my parents to let me shoot for the scenes.”

The newest girl to be discovered from the YRF clan is Dishkiyaaoon’s Ayesha Khanna.Having worked as a stylist on Band Baaja Baarat and Ladies v/s Ricky Bhel , Ayesha was discovered by producer Shilpa Shetty Kundra who encouraged her to audition for her home production.

Ayesha who met with the makers as the stylist of the film had everyone floored when she auditioned for 2 scenes after much coaxing – Ever since there was no looking back and she dove head on into preparing for the film with diction classes with Vidhu (who has also worked with Katrina Kaif),acting lessons with Abhishek Pandey and workshops with the film’s director Sanamjit Talwar.

Eros International and ESM’s Dishkiyaaoon directed by Sanamjit Talwar starring Harman Baweja, Sunny Deol and Ayesha Khanna is scheduled to release on March 28 2014.

Parvin Dabas essays a brief role in the forthcoming ‘Ragini MMS-2’.

His character [Rocks] is rumoured to be based on a popular Bollywood film-maker of the yesteryears. He plays a director, who visits the haunted house to shoot a film being made on the life of Ragini. Sunny Leone plays herself, an actress.

Dabas will be seen as an over-the-top director, over-friendly with his heroine, and at a crucial phase in his career, where this film could be a make or break for him.

Jackky Bhagnani Runs For Women Empowerment

Actor Jackky Bhagnani, who will be next seen playing a young Prime Minister in ‘Youngistaan’, recently participated in a marathon aimed at supporting empowerment of women and handicapped children.

The marathon event, which was organized by Jan Seva foundation in association with the Thadomal Shahani Engineering College was conducted on Sunday morning from Bandstand to the college. Jackky, who also ran in the marathon along with the participants, was accompanied by his ‘Youngistaan’ co-star Neha Sharma. A source close to the actor said, “Jackky is quite enthusiastic about causes aimed at women and children and so when he was told about the marathon, he readily agreed to be a part of the event.”

Aditya Roy Kapoor wants to visit Karim’s in Delhi

After creating a lot of buzz playing the romantic singer, Aditya Roy Kapur aka Haider will be seen playing a Khandani Bawarchi in his upcoming movie Dawat-E-Ishq.

Aditya Roy Kapur has been shooting for the film in Lucknow for which he has even gone through a look change maintaining a horseshoe mustache and buzz cut.

The actor was spotted chopping vegetables on the sets only to reveal that he will be playing a chef in the film. In the film he owns an eatery called Haidri Kabab,

The eatery is a generation old family legacy which was built in 1890 and Aditya is seen taking forward the same.

His character is loosely based on Delhi’s most famous food joint Karim’s which has been around since ages.

While script narrations Kareem’s often used to crop up and they food there was animatedly discussed.

Aditya who is a big foodie and is looking forward to visit Karim’s in Delhi.


Shane Watson to lead Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2014

MUMBAI, 10th March 2014: Rajasthan Royals today announced Shane Watson as the captain for the upcoming Pepsi Indian Premier League 2014. Shane Watson has been with the Royals since the inaugural season in 2008 and contributed to the team at all levels. Rahul Dravid, who retired from all forms of cricket in 2013, will be involved in all aspects of cricket strategy – mentoring the team and guide youth and talent development initiatives for the franchise.

Watson’s strong performances helped Rajasthan Royals win the inaugural IPL in 2008, while playing under the inspiring leadership of Shane Warne. The young Australian displayed his all-round skills and match-winning performances in crucial ties, and eventually was adjudged the Player-of-the-Tournament.

The Queensland-based all-rounder continued to play an integral part of the franchise in subsequent editions, and in 2012, he played under another legendary player and former India skipper Rahul Dravid. In Pepsi IPL 2013, Watson scored his first century in IPL and Twenty20, playing against Chennai Super Kings at MA Chidambaram Stadium. His strong performances continued and subsequently took the team to the Play-Offs that year, with Watson winning his second Player-of-the-Tournament award.

Rahul Dravid, the former captain of Rajasthan Royals, said: “I would like to congratulate Shane Watson on his appointment as the Captain of the Royals. Shane Watson was declared Player-of-the-Tournament in the 2012 ICC World Twenty20 for scoring a total of 249 with an average of 49.80, while taking 11 wickets with the ball. Since he joined Rajasthan Royals, Watson has been the team’s best all-rounder, notching 1,785 runs in 55 matches, scoring one century and 11 half-centuries at a strike rate of 145.59. In bowling, he claimed 48 wickets with a best figure of 3/10.

Greg along with his team started working on it. According to the brief he shot a rehearsal video with his team which was later sent to Akshay and Vipul. Once they came to India they rehearsed the action scenes with Akshay Kumar for almost a month.Greg along with his team even supervised the equipments n cables which were got for safety reasons.

Apart from the story, the music of the film too contributed to the film’s success with songs like ‘Harry is not a bramhachari’ and ‘Vyah karke pachtaya’, which are being hailed as chart-busters.

TV series directed by Shyam Benegal talks about the Making of the Constitution of India

Mumbai : March, 2014 : Pia Benegal, well known Costume Designer, has designed costumes for Samvidhaan, a 10 part TV series directed by Shyam Benegal. She has been working painstakingly on the costumes for Samvidhaan since the series was first mooted.

India has a remarkable democratic constitution that takes into account not only the large number of languages and dialects but also the variety of ethnic groups that are part of our country. A diversity unequalled in any other nation of the world.

Samvidhaan, discussion, drafting and framing took 2 years 11 months and 17 days by 294 members of the Constituent Assembly tells the exciting and dramatic story of the making of our constitution through debate. 155 members participated widely in the debates and made submissions.

Pia Benegal designed and created authentic costumes of the period ranging from dhotis, kurtas, waistcoats, sherwanis, double breasted suits, South Indian long coats, saris, a variety of headgear etc.

Pia says her brief was to design the costumes that were specific to the period when the constitution was created. “I was asked to work on Samvidhaan as the Costume Designer and recreate costumes for each character as realistically as possible. My tailors worked tirelessly on this project. Looking for specific accessories was a painstaking yet exciting exercise. Gradually I saw all my characters come alive. Each one of them began to look more and more like the original people whom we know as the members of our Constituent Assembly.”

Pia’s first film was ‘Antarnaad’. This experience took her to NIFT, New Delhi, where she studied and did a diploma in fashion design. And soon projects followed – ‘Mammo’, ‘Sardari Begum’, ‘Making of the Mahatma’, ‘Zubeidaa’ to mention a few with her father, and filmmakers like Mani Ratnam),(‘Dil Se’ ) Govind Nihalani (‘Drohkaal’ ), Dev Benegal (‘An English August’ ) , and Kaizad Gustad (‘Bombay Boys’ ). Currently, Pia is working as the costume designer for the TV series ‘Siyaasat’ directed by Siddharth Anand Kumar. She was nominated for Best Costumes at the BAFTA awards in London (2008) for her work in ‘Last Days of the Raj’ (dir Carl Hindmarch).

Indumati’s Moment of Happiness at ‘SAB Ki Filmy Holi’

Sucheta Khanna aka Indumati from SAB TV’s ‘Lapataganj – Ek Baar Phir’ was a part of a dance performance with the other SAB TV actors for ‘SAB Ki Filmy Holi’. During the act there was a shower of colours on the stage which covered all the dancers in different shades. After the performance, Sucheta decided to quickly freshen up and get into another dress to look prim & proper. When she went to the vanity van for a change of dress, the other SAB TV actors got together and hatched a plan to shower her with colours once again! The moment she stepped out of the trailer a range of colours were showered on her clean dress by all the actors. Sucheta too got in the fray and showered all the others with the same set of colors. An impromptu celebration of Holi happened out of the blue outside the van.

Sucheta said, “It was hilarious. We all were busy enjoying each other’s performances and I was eager to get back after my performance to join the others. I had no idea that these people are waiting for me to come out of the van and douse me with colour again. I truly enjoyed the colour session which followed after their prank. I showered every one of them with colours as well!”

All we can say is that SAB TV actors sure know how to spread the colours of happiness around them!

Steamy kissing scenes have become a very common part of films. This time around, Sonam Kapoor who has been seen playing some very interesting roles in her previous films, for the first time will be seen kissing on screen.

Sonam Kapoor will be seen sharing a kiss with Ayushmann Khuranna in her upcoming film Bewakofiyaan. The two who share a relationship on screen will be seen kissing each other in a few scenes. This will Sonam’s first onscreen kiss.

But what no one knows is that Sonam has kissed twice in her previous film which have been cut from the final edit of the film.

Spokesperson confirms the news and adds, “For some reason Sonam’s kissing scenes have been deleted from her previous films. This is her first kiss which will be seen onscreen.”

Urges students to get inspired by Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan’s success saga

Actress, model, DJ, Pantaloons Femina Miss Fashionista 2012 and Kingfisher Calendar finalist Madhu Sneha judged Oomph!!!, the fashion show at management institution NMIMS’ annual fest ‘Euphoria 2014’ and urged students to get inspired by Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan’s success saga. Madhu Sneha, who will soon be seen walking the ramp at the Lakme Fashion Week, announced SNDT (Juhu) College as the winner of the Euphoria 2014 Fashion Show from amongst participating management institutions including close runners up Welingkar’s and hosts NMIMS amongst others.

A great and unabashed fan of Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan, the multi-facetted Madhu Sneha, who just participated in a Theatre Lab workshop by Neeraj Kabi (‘Ship of Thesus’ fame), encouraged the students from different institutions to get inspired by the indefatigable Shah Rukh Khan and his quest for super success. “Congratulations to SNDT students for being first amongst equals. “HORROR, however modern, should be Indian at heart”, says director Shyam Ramsay.

Film maker Shyam Ramsay, believes that the spurt of horror films based in cities are a sign of changing times, but the success lies in its execution of a story.

For decades, Indian horror film was often equated with purani havelis, chudails or possessions triggered in isolated places. Its only the in the past one decade that the horror elements have been brought to the city. Ram Gopal Verma”s Bhoot was one such film that changed the trend where the story of possession was set in a penthouse in Mumbai.

Do you feel the times are changing for horror films in India?

A. Yes, which is why we see a spurt of upcoming horror films set in cities or carrying an urbane ring to it. For instance, Ragini MMS 2, darr @The Mall or even” Neighbours”, which I have directed.

The audience have seen enough of horror films based in havelis. So how do you engage then now?

A. Today it is the young that make up for a large segment of audience. They are exposed to all kinds of films, including horror flicks from the West, most of which are set in cities. When you set a story in a city, it’s a back drop that an audience instantly connects with. And the fact that these familiar places can breed horror intensifies the fear factor. The audience is able to collect and identify with the story unfolding before them. What Ragini MMS did is tell a story. A format made popular by The Blair Witch Project and Paranomial Activity series. This kind of a story telling not only turned out to be a novelty for the Indian audience, but also lend authencity to the horror experience.

Does that mean that a horror film set in a city works better than the ones set in a castle?

A. Not really. Backdrops are relevant only to a certain point. They are decided according to the script, which is why Vikram Bhatt”s 1920 set in a castle worked as well as Bhoot, which unfolds in a penthouse. After pioneering the trend of horror films in India, 32 in all, my next” Neighbours” is unlike any of our previous films. It is set in Mumbai city and introduces vampires as a source of horror. The heroine of the film, a horror buff finds that her neighbours are blood suckers and on a killing spree. But whatever the backdrop, what really matters in the end is the execution of the story. Besides today, there’s state of art technology (like special effects ) available to support in the making of a film, or even watching it with surround sound. I don’t have to use extensive make up or prosthetics in my horrors like I did in the past; it can all be achieved with the help of special effects.

Do you take inspirations from the west for your films?

A. Yes I do but taking inspirations from the west or experimenting with horror films, one must not forget to keep the soul of the film Indian. Because finally, its one element that draws our audience to connect with the films.” Go Goa Gone”, which was Indias first zombie flick, was a well made film, but it didn’t do too well because too western for our audience.

Besides, one should also remember that a western plot cannot be stretched for three hours, it then becomes a documentary.

Neighbours Synopsis (releasing on March 14th): In today’s scientific times it is difficult to believe in the presence of spirits, ghosts or for that matter VAMPIRES . It is impossible to imagine vampires in our world. But there was a time, an era between the 17th and 18th century where vampires did exist….blood sucking vampires in disguise of human form..Not only did they exist but they killed brutally and caused great terror among people. However, with great difficulty god fearing people managed to extinguish their presence.

One such incident took place in the hilly terrain of Kulbatta. Numerous villagers were being targeted by a blood sucking vampire Kapalika who had spread her fear in the whole area. Inspector Vikrant was the officer incharge of that area. He was an able officer gifted by Lord Shivas powers. With his rare powers he managed to overpower Kapalika and he put an end to those brutal killings. He managed to kill Kapalika, but he was not aware that Kapalika was not alone. She had an evil accomplice, Aaka who was equally powerful and vengeful.

After a few months Aaka managed to get Inspector Vikrant’s sister, Tanya who lived in the city kidnapped. He performed some evil practices on her and managed to enter Kapalikas evil spirit into her body. Kapalika once again, came alive but in Tanyas body. The vampires were back…this time, among us in the city. They relentlessly started spreading their fear. They were on a killing spree. In the city, these vampires made their abode opposite Sanam’s house . No body believed Sanam when she said that her neighbours are not normal…they are eerie scary people..No body believed the truth when Sanam said that her neighbours were VAMPIRES…Neither her family nor her friends…Even her professor didn’t pay attention to her. Every night an innocent scream was heard, every night an innocent life was lost, every night was a night of death..caused by Sanam’s new NEIGHBOURS…THE VAMPIRES.

How will these brutal murders end? Who and How will stop these blood sucking vampires? How will the word of god wipe out the forces of Evil?
