Mumbai, February 26, 2013: The International Advertising Association’s (IAA) India chapter today revealed nominations for the first 12 categories of the much-awaited second edition of the IAA Leadership Awards. Taking into account the outstanding marketing and related initiatives that have been undertaken in the year gone by, the nominees have been shortlisted from the fields of Marketing of various products and services categories.

Bollywood is undoubtedly one of the most powerful mediums to communicate strong and sincere messages. The celebrities, with their fan following, create a difference by voicing their opinions on social causes. They have moved beyond Box Office triumphs. Apart from being actors, these individuals are aware of their social responsibilities and use their star quotient as a tool to meet a bigger and larger cause, for the good of the people.

Many Bollywood celebrities have been sincerely working on issues they care passionately about and their association doesn’t end with their film projects. Here we present some Bollywood actors, who understand their larger purpose in the transformation and betterment of the society.

Salman Khan has bettered lives, saved many and given them hope, all thanks to the charity work of Being Human. Proceeds from his initiatives like Being Human Merchandise and Being Human Art, go towards healthcare and education for the underprivileged.

Actor Arjun Rampal, known to be closely associated with PETA, along with representatives from the organization, recently met Maharashtra State Forest Minister to hand-deliver a letter. The letter urged the minister to take immediate action in order to ensure that 14-year-old abused elephant Sunder was transferred to a sanctuary from the temple in Kolhapur. Madhuri Dixit, Amitabh Bachchan, Raveena Tandon, R Madhavan, and many other celebrities took to Twitter to support his case to #FreeSunder.

Dia Mirza has been supporting various social organizations, ever since she was crowned the Miss India Asia- Pacific in 2000. Working closely with ‘ADAPT’ (Able Disable All People Together), Dia has been deeply empathetic about the cause. She had also participated in a rally organized by the society to push for building ramps, elevators and adjusted toilets in public places. She has been closely associated with Cancer Patients Aid Association, and has worked with the Government of Andhra Pradesh to spread HIV awareness and prevent female foeticide. John Abraham, a firm believer in social work thanks to his mother, is closely associated with PETA. Last year, he sent a letter to Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), urging them to put a ban on the use of elephants in circuses. He was also seen supporting Make A Wish foundation, where he made dreams of many terminally ill children come true.

Deepika Padukone is a sports enthusiast and has been a national-level badminton player. Her passion for sports drives her to work for Olympic Gold Quest, a support group for athletes and sportspersons, started by her father, legendary Badminton player Prakash Padukone. Olympic Gold Quest scouts for potential medal talent, helps identify areas of support, and works with all stakeholders to aid deserving talent. Amit Sadh, too, does his bit frequently, by promoting cycling, the environment-friendly commute. The actor recently participated in Tour De India’s Green Cyclothon, in Mumbai and at the Buddh International Circuit (BIC) in Greater Noida. Apart from this, the ‘Kai Po Che’ actor also played at a charity match, with the All Stars football Club.

It’s wonderful to know, that these actors, in their own way are trying to contribute to the society. Being socially aware is one thing, and being socially responsible is another. - Neha Marda – the protagonist of Zee TV’s Doli Armaanon Ki, met with an accident today morning while driving to the sets.

- Taking the Express Highway, Neha was driving the car herself at a speed of 120 kmph.

- Though her car is entirely damaged, she was rescued by the public and police immediately

- Post the accident, she reported to the sets with minor scratches

- On sets, there are doctors examining her from time to time

- Although she had a narrow escape, she is said to be having internal injuries

- Neha who plays the lead role in ‘Doli Armaanno Ki’ as Urmi is scheduled to go on a two day leave beginning from tomorrow and hence did not go back on her commitment of shooting today despite the accident

- She refused to skip her shoot and in order to avoid causing inconvenience to the Production house of the show

- Just like her on screen character of Urmi, Neha proved to be a complete woman of words in real life as well as she was dedicated towards her work and shot without any complains

- With this step, Neha has displayed commendable dedication towards her work. Her ‘show must go on’ attitude is worth a round of applause.

Lyricist Faaiz Aawaar’s Son turns Music Director

Mumbai.Faaiz Anwaar, Writer and lyricist who has penned songs for hit movies like Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin(tittle song), Saajan(tittle song), Jab We Met(Aaaogey Jab Tum Saajnaa), Dabangg(Tere Mast Mast Do Nayan) and Rowdy Rathore (Chikni Kamar..,Chammak Challo..,Pritam Pyare..) is a proud man today. His son Farzan Faaiz has become a Music Director. While father is the lyricist in Raju Mawani’s film ‘Anuradha’, so is lending the music. The song of the movie has been well liked and the movie is set to release on 28th February 2014. Below are excerpts of an interview with Music Director Farzan Faaiz:

Tell us something about yourself.

I finished by schooling from Juhu’s Vidyanidhi High School and then graduated in Arts from Mithibai College. Now I am giving music for movies.

Your father is a lyricist and you chose music?

Music has been my passion right from my childhood and I have learnt guitar from my teacher Harsh. In addition, I have heard and learnt music by observing singers like Mithun Sharma and RD Burman. My father taught me recording etc. I have tried writing lyrics a couple of times but I don’t understand antara-mukhda,Kafila etc. I understand music. Empire Studio’s Mani uncle has taught me so much.

How did you get the part in movie Anuradha and why you did not begin your career from some big banners or Big star film?

I have already given music for Ramesh Sharma’s movie Mumbai Shuklaji Street, which is also set to release. Anuradha’s director Raju uncle is my father’s friend. He saw my work in Ramesh Sharm’s movie and gave me an opportunity. Movies are not big or small, it’s the work that goes in and shows. People liked my work and I will pick up.

Work or Money, Which is important for you?

I want to get good opportunities now. Money will follow.

What is Future plan?

Narendra Chanchal will be honoured in Mumbai on

When one thinks about Jagran or Mata Ki Chowki, then the one name that comes to mind is Narendra Chanchal. For 45 years, he has kept the flame lit up with his bhajans for Durga Maa. On 2nd March 2014, he will be honoured at BEC Ground (Bombay Exhibition Center), Highway Goregoan(East), Mumbai by Radhe Maa Charitable Trust during Bhagwati Jagran.

Narendra Chanchal will sing on the occasion of Radhe Maa’s birthday. “I am coming to Mumbai without any commercial interest and I have faith in Radhe Maa.I feel blessed by Radhe Maa.Whenever I get an opportunity, I go and meet her.,” he says.

As a kid, Narendra Chanchal learnt about bhakti watching his mother praying. He too became a devotee of Durga Maa. Every year he conducts Jagran or Mata Ki Chowki for Durga Maa and releases 2 or 3 bhakti albums every year. The world famous singer Narendra Chanchal has always enthrall people with his melodious voice even in different countries like U.S. , Canada , Europe , Australia etc.

Disapproving Bhajan’s in Bollywood tunes he says “It does not suit our culture and civilization. Folk songs and music of Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, etc. are quite nice and cozy, bhajans or devotional songs should be made on these tunes rather than using Western tunes. Guys do this for cheap popularity, which is wrong. ”

Buzz these days going around is that Kailash Kher is giving music in director Anand Kumar’s film “Desi Kattey” solo. Whereas firstly it was heard that his band Kailasa is giving music in the film. To find out what’s the matter? We meet him. Kailash Kher explained, “It is not that in the film “Desi Kattey” I’m composing solo. Like the usual, in this film too, Naresh & Paresh are with me and will always be. My name is being used in the credits only because Director Anand wanted to use it, so that’s it.”

In this film there are total 7 songs, which has been written by Kailash Kher and Prasoon Joshi. The playback singers used in the film by Kailash are Rekha Bharadwaj, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Shreya Ghoshal, Shankar Mahadevan and Hard Kaur. About the music of the film Kailash Kher said, ‘In the film the music is according to the story of the film, and so, it will have all kinds of music.’ When asked will the film music will have any Sufi number like he has in his albums, he said that there will be romantic, nostalgia, item numbers – are all kinds of songs, Sufi may particular won’t be used this time but the music would be Desi.

Being produced under his banner Affluence Movies Private Limited, the film which is directed by Sameer Patil and has been shot across real locations across Western Maharashtra, stars Dilip Prabhavalkar, Aniket Vishwasrao, Hrishikesh Joshi, Pooja Sawant, Neha Joshi, amongst others. Another key highlight of the film is its music, which for the first time in Marathi cinema, would feature none other than Lesle Lewis.

Poshter Boyz is a wholesome entertainer. It is a humorous take on a key social issue where three ordinary individuals of completely different age-groups find themselves brought together in an unwanted situation that has a serious negative effect on their well-settled happily progressing life. Laced with a very interesting and well rounded music and background score, the film explores the journey of these three men through these trying times and their fight for justice.

Taapsee Pannu wins the most ‘Enthusiastic Performer-Female’ Award at Edison Awards 2014

Mumbai, 25th February, 2014: Taapsee Pannu, who debuted opposite Dhanush in the super hit and National award winning film ‘Aadukalam’, has made her presence felt strongly in the film industry, down South. The young actor recently received the ‘Enthusiastic Performer-Female’ jury award at Edison Awards 2014 for her performance in the Vishnuvardhan directed Tamil film, ‘Arrambam’.

Ragini MMS – 2, the forthcoming horror-erotica film, contains a horror-packed scene shot inside a lake. In fact, there is even a fleeting shot of the said scene in the film’s trailer.

It appears at the point when Sunny’s co-star follows her to a lake hoping to make love to her.

The lake was in Vasai on the outskirts of Mumbai, in a scary and quiet location. The said scene had to be shot at midnight when the water was cold, so as to get the desired effect. Sunny had to dip into the water to give her best shot but was petrified because the lake was quite a walk from her vanity van. There was also talk of water snakes.

The scene took an entire night to shoot and Sunny fell ill the following day and developed a minor skin allergy.

“I saw dead fish. The water was dirty,” said Sunny. “I was scared as hell,” she added.


Darr@The Mall Makes Impressive Collections At The Box Office.

Directed by Pavan Kirpalani of Ragini MMS fame, the recently released Darr@The Mall has proved to be a winner at the box office. Not only has the film made good business, but has also managed to impress critics and fans of the horror genre.

Made on a budget of 6.5 crores, the film had an opening weekend collection of nearly 4 crores, which is a rare feat for a horror film. Director Pavan Kirpalani says, “We are quite excited about the response that the film has got from all quarters. The shooting of the film was a tough task as most of the film had been shot at night, so seeing the results have really heartened us. The word of mouth publicity has ensured that the night shows on weekdays are being booked in advance.”

On his part, NP Singh, the CEO of MSM Motion Pictures said, “Since day one, we have believed that we have made a quality film and the numbers have reiterated the fact. We are immensely pleased with the response that the film has received both critically and commercially.”

The film, which was set against the backdrop of a mall, starred Jimmy Shergill, Nushrat Bharucha, Asif Basra, Nivedita Bhattacharya and Neeraj Sood.

Total Siyapaa, which has garnered audience’s attention with only its trailer, is currently working on the film’s tagline. The makers of the film, who have come up with an abstract title like “Total Siyapaa” are working on a tag line which conveys the feel of the film. The makers have however come up with the tagline, “Full Chaos”.

As the backdrop of the film portrays a complete chaotic situation wherein a Pakistani boy falls in love with an Indian girl. This in turn gives a rise to this entire commotion which takes place at the girl’s house.

Keeping this backdrop in mind, the makers have come up with the tagline, “Full Chaos” which also explains the title of the film “Total Siyapaa.”

Ankhon Dekhi is Rajats first film with songs

Rajat Kapoor’s upcoming film Ankhon Dekhi is apparently his first film to have songs. The director who is known for his edgy films has always maintained to provide a certain kind of cinema to his audience.

None of his directorial ventures have songs unlike other Bollywood films. For the first time in his career as a director, he has included songs in the film, Ankhon Dekhi.

In Rajat’s previous films, he had played it so creatively that background music filled all the space. But In Ankhon Dekhi he felt that without songs, his film would have been incomplete.
