Lavasa Women’s Drive, India’s largest women’s car rally is flagged off with great fanfare
Over 1000 women participate in the Drive to raise awareness about issues affecting women & attempt a Guinness World Record
Mumbai, February 22, 2014: The 6th edition of Lavasa Women’s Drive (LWD), India’s largest women’s car rally saw 2000 women drive to Lavasa from Mumbai and Pune with great zeal in a show of women’s empowerment. The flag off event at Kamla Mills, Mumbai saw women parading their 4 wheel beauties decked with impactful messages on women related issues with great élan.
In Mumbai, the flag off event was a star-studded affair with Bollywood celebrities like Kunal Kapoor, Manish Paul, Ashmit Patel and Elli Avram flagging the cars and boosting the morale of the spirited women. The first car to roll out was the Rosy car driven by Prachi Mishra. In all 350 cars were flagged of from Mumbai. The participants dressed in exclusively designed T shirts were seen driving a range of cars to compete and raise awareness for a social cause.
Participants made it to the cool picturesque Lavasa following the rules set by Indian Automotive Racing Club (IARC) on the 240 km stretch with the help of a tulip chart. The drive was in Time-Distance-Speed format (TDS). Participants entered Lavasa to a rousing reception as they were welcomed with flowers and a special theme song beautifully rendered by well known singer Shibani Kashyap
Participants of this year’s Lavasa Women’s Drive highlighted burning issues of violence against women, declining ratio of girls apart from inspirational messages from the cancer survivor participants.
Ms. Anuradha Paraskar, Senior Vice President, Marketing & Sales, Lavasa Corporation Limited, saluting the spirit of the participants said, “Lavasa Women’s Drive has grown bigger, setting new milestones with each passing year. This year the participants collectively polled a record 32 lakh votes from their acquaintances from over 100 countries to get themselves selected for the drive. The drive has emerged as a platform for the modern Indian women to show their indomitable spirit by taking up new challenges and boldly display their concerns on issues affecting women.

Lavasa Women’s Drive has actively supported the cause of Women’s Cancer prevention through early detection since 2009. A large part of money collected through registration, is donated to Women’s Cancer Initiative – Tata Memorial Hospital

The Lavasa Women’s Drive campaign will culminate on March 8, 2014 with the Awards Ceremony in Mumbai to honor the winners.

of Dance India Dance Season 4
In an exciting finale to a hugely popular season of India’s biggest dance reality show, Zee TV announces the winner of ‘Maruti Suzuki Dance India Dance powered by Quikr.com’ and it is none other than the super talented, versatile young dancing sensation from Mumbai – Shyam Yadav. Like every year, the grand finale was held at the Andheri Sports Complex in Mumbai. Shyam was crowned with the esteemed ‘Sunehri Taqdeer Ki Topi’ on receiving the highest number of votes from viewers pan-India.
18 year old Mumbai boy Shyam is currently in Grade 12. He has been taking professional dance training for over 8 years. He has been a part of judge Muddasar khan’s dance academy and shares a great rapport with his mentor. The second runner-up was Manan Sachdev, followed by the third and fourth runners-up, Biki Das and Sumedh Mudgalkar respectively.
His mentor Master Mudassar said, “This is a HUGE moment of victory for Shyam and I am proud of him. He deserves every last bit of his recognition and fame. Together, we have worked on his strengths and pushed him beyond his comfort zone, attempting styles he had never imagined he would be able to master. He is a truly versatile dancer and has a long way to go!”

At the finale, the top contenders ‘Danced It Out’ one last time on the esteemed stage of Dance India Dance. The evening was packed with the extra punch of excitement, entertainment and the ever-building suspense of who’ll walk away with the coveted trophy. The last set of performances by the finalists and masters were nothing short of spell-binding and spectacular. This season’s new trio of judges – Mudassar Khan, Shruti Merchant and Feroz Khan enthralled the audience with their smashing entries and powerhouse dance acts. Host Ishita Sharma performed with Master Mudassar Khan on ‘Yeh chori badi drama queen hai’. His magnificent entry on a sports bike that charged in from the back exit had the crowd going into frenzy. Master Shruti enchanted everyone with her stupendous dance on ‘Aa re pritam pyare.’ Master Feroz Khan had the audience look up at the sky as he hung mid-air right above everyone’s heads and took some stunning aerial somersaults. Host Jay Bhanushali too grooved on a medley of dance hits and playfully challenged Mithun Chakraborty about taking over his Grandmaster throne, only to fall flat on his face when all the ladies voted for Dada to stay on as the host. Shyam’s spirited performance to ‘Dhating Naach’ moved his father who was in the audience to tears. It was an emotional moment for Shyam as he was seeing his father after a very long time.. ‘King of Swag’ Manan, made a thrilling entry on a parachute and danced right in the middle of the audience, leaving them begging for more!
The sheer presence of Bollywood stars Farhan Akhtar and Vidya Balan added a sprinkling of stardust to the Grand Finale of dance India Dance. The first time ever on-screen pair, Farhan and Vidya promoted their upcoming release, Shaadi Ke Side-Effects. The two playfully poked fun at each other as a glimpse of their characters in the movie. Vidya shared a hilarious camaraderie with Mithun da as the two matched steps on Vidya’s song ‘Ooh lala’ from Dirty Picture. Not to be left behind, Farhan also sang a song with Master Mudassar and left the audience roaring for an encore.
In a delightful special appearance at the Grand finale, the cast of Ekta Kapoor’s upcoming show on Zee TV, Kumkum Bhagya – the daughters of the Arora family landed up on stage to shake a leg and give their best wishes to the top finalists. Pragya (Sriti Jha) and Bulbul (Mrunal Thakur), danced on stage while introducing their show briefly.
After completing their exceptional journey of dance on the show, the winner walked away with many prizes apart from the sheer recognition and adulation across the country. Darr@The Mall Opens To An Encouraging Response
Director Pavan Kirpalani, who had made his Bollywood debut with the highly-successful ‘Ragini MMS’, had helmed scare fare ‘Darr@The Mall’, which released this Friday and going by the response that the film is getting, the film has certainly found takers amongst fans of the horror genre. However, this is not surprising considering the fact that the second trailer of the film had crossed 11 lakh views within a week!
The film, which boasts of an ensemble cast of talented actors, is a spine-chilling horror flick set against the backdrop of an urban mall.
Movie critic Subhash K Jha gives the film 3 stars and writes, “Darr dares you to get scared. Set in a mall the eerie emptiness and the ominous feel of an evil presence are palpably portrayed by director Pavan Kripalani.Those who like that chill up the spine are in for a good time.”

Shilpa Shetty Kundra-Harman Baweja Set The Stage On Fire At The Launch Of ‘Tu Mere Type Ka Nahi Hai’
Actress-turned-producer Shilpa Shetty Kundra, who is back in the limelight with her maiden venture ‘Dishkiyaoon’ , recently set the stage on fire while performing to the film’s highlight song ‘Tu Mere Type Ka Nahi Hai’ along with Harman Baweja at the launch event of the song at a popular nightclub in Mumbai.
Looking like a million bucks while posing with Harman alongside a superbike ,Shilpa along with her discovery actress Ayesha Khanna, who makes her big Bollywood debut with the film, made their way to the stage where they danced to the peppy number, which is picturised on Shilpa and Harman in the film.
The duo then introduced Ayesha to the crowd as this was her first formal interaction with the media. The film’s director Sanamjit Singh Talwar was also present and hosted the entire evening.
The stellar performance was also met with an encore request, following which, Shilpa and Harman performed the song twice. Elated at the response to the number, Shilpa said, “All my songs have been received so warmly and Tu Mere Type Ka Nahi Hai is extremely special as I return to that space for my maiden venture – It’s a complete hatke number and the feedback we have received on it has been super.”

‘Creature 3D’ to release on 27th June
After Yaariyan and soon to release Bhoothnath Returns, T-Series in association with BVG films is all set to release Vikram Bhatt’s next sci-fi thriller, ‘Creature 3D’.The film starring Bipasha Basu will mark the debut of Imran Abbas and is slated to release on 27th June, 2014.
After Haunted, Vikram Bhatt wears the directors cap for another 3D film that will scare the audience with a creature created using VFX which will be a first of its kind in India. Bhushan Kumar says, “Creature will be the first time we make a sci-fi film. This film will definitely give our audience something different and Vikram has shot it on par international standards. He has finished the shoot of the film and is now busy with post production for a 27th June release.”

clearly spilled over into 2014 as Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone

nothing short of spell-binding. Ranveer’s non-stop 14 minute act
raises a toast to Bollywood through the ages. The actor grooved to
songs picturized on the most iconic stars ranging from Rajesh Khanna,
Amitabh Bachchan, Mithunda, Govinda, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan.
Deepika, looking stunning in ethnic wear, danced to a medley of her

uniform. On reaching the stage, Akshay stood tall on the bike as it
made 6 dangerous circles and leapt off the running bike, only to be
lifted into the sky a good 35 feet over the stage. Akshay’s act had
blazes of fire and the first-of-its kind rain dance at an awards
ceremony. For Akshay, his performance at Zee Cine Awards was the
unveil of his upcoming film ‘Holiday – A Soldier Is Never Off Duty’.
This time, Shah Rukh Khan worked his magic on the audience quite
literally! Despite being in pain, the King Khan teamed up with
comedienne Bharti to present spoofs of the films nominated in the Best
Film category. In a hilarious spoof of Dhoom: 3, Shah Rukh imitated
Aamir Khan and turned himself in to a magician! The Badshah of romance
pulled roses out of thin air, presenting it to the ladies on stage,
sent his hat levitating above his head and produced fireworks with his
wand and what not!
Sonakshi Sinha’s graceful dance and the current rage Honey Singh’s
rocking performance raised the bar of style, dance and songs at Zee
Cine Awards! Ali Zafar as he launched the first-look of his next
release, Total Siyapaa. Teaming up with co-star Yaami Gautam, he gave
a sneak-peak of their movie through a romantic act.
