Karan Wahi will be seen in an all new avatar in the upcoming gala episode of Sony Entertainment Television’s popular music reality show Indian Idol Junior. The entertaining host donned an outfit which could be distinctively related to Shahenshah, which was played by the legendary Amitabh Bachchan.

Indian Idol Junior has successfully managed to keep the audience engaged by showcasing outstanding talent amalgamated with interesting themes. With the upcoming gala episode having a ‘disco’ theme, everyone on the sets sported a unique ‘disco’ costume. But it was Karan Wahi who seemed to grab most of the attention with his distinctive costume. With funky golden eye gear, stylish sequenced leather jacket and shiny golden boots, he gave the impression of the modern Shahenshah. With his heart throbbing looks and personality, he struck various cool poses and shared jokes that had the audience in splits. He also tried to mouth a few dialogues like Shahenshah Big B himself. Unique concept- Police Dial 100

Almost every channel nowadays has a crime show but recently channel ‘Life Ok’ launched a new crime show named ‘Police Dial 100’ which has a very unique concept. The main feature of this show is that the police officers shown in the serial are not but are actual police officers. Telling about the show Police Dial 100, Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar says, “This is the first crime show which runs without any script whereas the real incidents are shown. The audience will watch for the first time which they did not see anywhere else”.

The show Police Dial 100 is broadcasted on channel ‘Life OK’ at 7 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday. On asking the director of the show Shruti Anandita about her thoughts on this very common genre of serials she says, “Yes, Crime is a very common genre on small screen, but this show is different as the police officers in the show are real ones and not actors. There are shows with the similar concept in the western countries but such show is introduced in India for the first time. We go on location with the police officers and shoot everything that is real. There is so script, no dialogue and not a single actor in the show. The job is very risky as we have to show the truth without interfering in any police operations.”

The TRP of the show Police Dial 100 produced by Endemol Production Company is increasing day by day as the audience wants to watch serials which show the truth.

Girish Kumar goes all out for Ramaiya Vastavaiya

Girish Kumar who makes his debut this year with Ramaiya Vastavaiya unlike most newcomers has decided to take the dare-devilish route and performed all the film’s stunts on his own.

While a certain stunt required him to jump off a cliff ,the actor insisted on doing the scene himself, minus a body double .And while 200 odd mattresses were to be laid down as a safety precaution for the stunt,only 20 mattresses could be procured but that didn’t deter the young actor.

Infact Girish Kumar’s introductory scene in the film will see the actor make a grand entrance on a surf board , something never attempted in Bollywood before.

If that wasn’t all, Girish Kumar also performed a windmill action sequence impressing everyone on the sets..Says a source, “Not all actors are comfortable performing stunts but Girish was willing to do whatever the scene required…He insisted on doing the stunts himself and didn’t want to use the assistance of a body double…Despite this he pulled the scenes off with elan and impressed everyone with his courage and dedication”.

All praise for the debutante says director Prabhudheva, “ Girish impressed me with his eagerness to do everything the script required..In fact though we suggested a body double for certain action scenes he wanted to do the stunts himself..His dedication and hardwork will take him a long way “.

Playing an NRI who enters a village set-up, the young actor had to learn several things ,which until the shooting of the movie ,he was completely alien to, including jumping into a heap of cow dung.

While shooting in Bhor,Girish Kumar had to milk cows for a particular scene and had to learn the task at hand in a mere 20 minutes – The actor even learnt how to farm as well as ride a bullock cart for various scenes in the film.

Taking method acting to an all new level,Girish Kumar had to shoot for a scene where the camera had to capture an expression of his mouth burning – The actor actually ate 20 red chillies just to get the required facial expression.

Actor Vineet Kumar Singh who has been seen in films like City of Gold, Gangs of Waseypur, Bombay Talkies (Murabba) and so on started his career as an Assistant Director despite being a medical student. After struggling for several years in film industry, he got noticed in Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur as Danish Khan and then went on to win accolades for his performance in Bombay Talkies. This actor’s next film, Shor, one of the five short films in SHORTS, an AKFPL and TUMBHI venture, is slated to release on 12thJuly, 2013.

Here are excerpts from an interview with Vineet:

Q: How did AKFPL & TUMBHI’s SHORTS happen to you?

A: When we were shooting for Gangs of Wasseypur in Baranas, Neeraj came to me with the offer of acing in his film Shor, one of the short films in SHORTS. Initially, I ignored his offer and then he started chasing me on an off-day by rickshaw. After a while I gave up and decided to hear him out out. And soon after he narrated the script to me, I decided to do the film.

Q: What’s your expectation from SHORTS?

A: I never expected that SHORTS will get a theatrical release. I did the film for the sake of friendship. All the five films have been made in a wonderful way and we praised each other for our works.

Now, we are happy that the film is releasing in theatre. From actor to director, everyone needs a platform in every field which is difficult to get. So many directors, actors, DOPs and writers have got that opportunity with SHORTS. I am happy for each one of them.

Q: What is the specialty of short films?

A: One of the significant specialties of short films is that it gives you an opportunity to experiment with characters every time. In case of feature films people are scared of experimentation with new actors and prefer to cast them in roles similar to the ones in their previous films.

Q: Tell us something about your film in SHORTS?

A: Shor is my film in SHORTS of which Neeraj Ghaywan is the director. The film is about a poor class couple in the city, Mumbai. It is an intimate and gripping portrayal of dissonance in relationship that unsettles with its raw and restless energy.

We shoot in real locations, sometimes in dangerous situations. But it was a wonderful experience to work with Neeraj and my co-stars Ratnabali Bhattacharjee, Amardeep Jha. This film gave me an opportunity to play a different kind of character.

In future, I will love to do more short films. SHORTS has opened that path for me.

Q: What next to expect from you?

A: Issaq and Ugly are my upcoming films. I am playing vital roles in both these films.

Sony kicks off India’s first online Beatboxing Competition

New Delhi, 8th July 2013: Sony India today opened entries for participation in a super engaging and exciting online music event: The Sony VAIO Beatboxing Competition. Music enthusiasts, solo artists, bands, singers and youngsters across the country can upload YouTube links of their beatboxing performance videos for the song “Moves like Jagger”, by world’s leading beatboxing artist, Shlomo; and submit the links on Sony’s microsite, http://www.sony.co.in/microsite/vaiosonic/. Sony has tied up with Shlomo for this contest who can also be seen in the latest VAIO television commercial, on-air from 2-July. The winner will be entitled to win a brand new Sony Vaio

While the contestants would need to popularise their entries and generate maximum likes for their performance; a panel of expert jury and Shlomo himself will evaluate select acts based on their performance, innovation in music and popularity. Nawaz’s soft side

Nawauddin Siddiqui may have consciously let go of films where he is not the solo hero, but he is definitely an actor who gives new directors the much-needed opportunity. For his film Shorts with director Rohit Pandey, Nawazuddin was accosted by the director who when in Benaras for a shoot, actually chased Nawaz on a rickshaw and boarded it leaving his own, to simply tell Nawaz he wanted to narrate a story.

Nawaz not just listened to the young man’s story, but liked his confidence that he consented to shoot for the film. The film was about a loner Mehfuz who deals with dead bodies as a profession and how a wandering woman and her demeanor changes his life. Nawaz went out of his way to make the film happen and is now happy it is seeing the light of the day with Shorts.

“It is important that every maker gets an opportunity to showcase his talent on the silver screen. I am merely a means,” says Nawaz. It is surely this humility that has taken Nawaz places.
