Aarti Chabbria’s Jhalak stint comes to an end!

After fighting it out consistently over the past few weeks even after finding herself in the bottom two, looks like Aarti Chabbria ran out of luck this time around on India’s biggest celebrity dance reality show – Jhalak Dikhla Jaa. The Bollywood actress unfortunately was the one to say goodbye this week.

The actor, who was not afraid of taking risks, was seen rather bravely experimenting on the dance floor with various distinct dance genres from across the world. Whether it was showing her sensual Latin-American moves, or doing a fiery tango, or even transforming herself into a princess for a soft waltz, the actor has given a shot at almost all kinds of dance forms. Her performance for her mother on Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai during Jhalak’s family week, was one of her strongest acts on the show, emotionally moving everyone present on the sets.

“Jhalak has become like my extended family. I’m going to miss everyone here and everything about this stage I danced on. It has taught me a lot about life”, said the actor, teary eyed, on her elimination, who had been giving her best despite being severely injured with a rib fracture.

Well, with the competition getting much tougher with the addition of four extremely talented wild card entrants, looks like only the finest and fittest will have a chance at survival on Jhalak Dikhla Jaa. Tune into Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa this weekend at 9.00 pm only on COLORS!

Huma Qureshi impresses one and all!

Looks like Bollywood has its own Siddhu now! If your confused, we’re talking about Huma Qureshi, who has not just showed her immense acting prowess with the Gangs of Wasseypur series, but has proved to be quite the shayari-queen, with all the quirky shers she was dishing out when the actress recently visited the sets of COLORS’ recently launched Comedy Nights with Kapil.

Qureshi, who was on the show with Nawazuddin Siddiqui to promote her upcoming release, Shots, was not less than a Kapil or a Sidhu. She was impromptu when it came to a quick-witted response to any of their pun-intended remarks. Kapil, too, who is known to have a good laugh out of playfully teasing all his guest celebrities on the show, was taken aback by Qureshi’s spontaneous and witty retorts cum shers to all his jokes directed at her. So much so, that along with the audiences, even Siddhu paaji was seen enjoying Qureshi’s fun banter with Kapil! We’re sure Qureshi’s fun side will garner more fans for this talented lady!

To be a part of all the fun, don’t forget to tune into Comedy Nights with Kapil, every weekend at 10 pm on COLORS.

Huma’s swayamvar on Comedy Nights with Kapil!

After her powerful stint in the mass popular series of Gangs of Wasseypur, Huma Qureshi’s popularity among the audiences is only increasing manifold! So much so that three young boys even ended up approaching her for marriage when the actor recently visited the sets of Comedy Nights with Kapil, to promote her upcoming release, Shots.

Charmed by her graceful presence, the boys, who were in their late teens, were seen to be extremely eager and willing to do almost anything to impress Qureshi, who appeared completely taken aback by the thought of getting married to 19-year olds! So willing were the boys that they ended up performing several push-ups for the actor as ordered by host Kapil Sharma, who was having his share of fun and laughter by making sure the teens did not stop their gymnastics. Maybe the boys couldn’t elicit a yes for their respective marriage proposals from Huma, but she sure was enjoying all the pampering!

To watch all this action, tune into COLORS’ Comedy Nights with Kapil every weekend at 10 pm!

Ali and Girish escape a great fall!

When the South-Indian dancing expert, Prabhudeva, accompanied newbie Girish Kumar on Comedy Nights with Kapil, to promote their upcoming release Ramaiya Vastavaiya, the audiences along with the Sharma family had only one thing on their mind – to shake a leg along with the dance master himself.

While the entire Sharma family got into their typical loud and animated act on stage to impress Prabhudeva with their rather gaudy dancing moves, Ali Asgar, aka our very own Daadi of the show could not stop herself from pulling Girish Kumar rather forcefully into her arms to begin what was a hilarious dance performance. Asgar was in no mood to let go of Kumar, and the two were so much into each other while dancing, that they nearly tripped over a carpet and were about to fall flat on the stage, had Sumona and the rest of the family not saved them.

Well, a lot of madness seems to be happening in the Sharma house this week with Prabhudeva’s presence! Tune into Comedy Nights with Kapil this weekend at 10.00 pm only on COLORS to catch all the action!

Sharma family goes ballistic dancing!

We all know how excited the Sharma family gets on witnessing celebrities in their house. When the dancing maestro – Prabhudeva visited them this week on Comedy Nights with Kapil, could they miss out on the opportunity to flaunt their rather flamboyant dancing skills in front of the master himself?

Seen in bizarre and extremely flashy get-ups, every member of the Sharma family was seen trying very hard to out-do each other with their rather filmy and extravagant dance performances, vying hard for the attention of Prabhudeva in hope of obtaining a role in one of his upcoming movies. When asked who was the worst of the lot by Kapil, who was clearly distraught at the awkward situation his family had put him in, Prabhudeva very diplomatically answered, “A lot of effort was put by everyone in their performances. It reflected in their acts. I was impressed with everyone, so I can’t say anyone was bad.”

Well, along with comedy, a lot of dancing seems to be happening on this week’s Comedy Nights with Kapil! Tune into the show this weekend at 10.00 pm only on COLORS to catch all the action!

“Frankly, Glamour isn’t Shraddha Kapoor’s forte”. Makers of Welcome Back clarify!

The makers of Welcome Back, producer Firoz A.Nadiadwala and director Anees Bazmee are extremely upset with recent reports in the media of Shraddha Kapoor claiming that she was approached for the film and rejected it ,especially since the real truth is that the actress was never approached for the role in the first place.

While the leading role in the original blockbuster Welcome was essayed by Bollywood’s numero uno -Katrina Kaif, the makers are keen on casting an A-lister opposite John Abraham since Welcome is a huge franchise. And Welcome Back will only be bigger and better.

Setting the record straight says Firoz Nadiadwala’s spokesperson, “Shraddha Kapoor has never been approached for the film and its shocking for her to even suggest it – The role requires someone who is extremely glamorous , has great screen presence and is a fine actress and frankly glamour isn’t

Shraddha Kapoor’s forte -Lets not forget that

Welcome starred the country’s number one actress Katrina and hence the role would be suitable to an actress in the top rankings and

Shraddha Kapoor doesn’t figure in the top 10. It would require years for someone like

Shraddha who is barely a film old and has worked with only with newcomers, to get to the level of working with a huge brand name like John Abraham. The makers have almost finalized a top actress ,announcement of which will soon be made”.

Clarifying the same says Aneez Bazmee’s spokesperson, “Aneez bhai is very amused by the rumors. It seems to have become a trend for wannabe actresses to declare that they are receiving big films like

Welcome Back and are rejecting them since this is the only way they get publicity”

Deepak Kumar : Yes I am Birju of “RANI BANAL JWALA”

Deepak Kumar a young dashing model from Delhi is testing his first success of film “Rani Banal Jwala”. A brief chat with Deepak.

Q : How were you interested in acting ?

A : My dad Shri Balkrihan Gupta is noted distributor and exhibitor since Raj Kapoor and Dev Anand’s time. During vacation I use to come with him in Mumbai and happened to meet with film stars Dharmendra, Sunny Deol, Danny and many more, so naturally I was attracted towards film acting. After completing my graduation I was taking training in gymnastic and bike stunts as I wanted to act in films, simultaneously I was doing ramp shows for Monte Carlo dressing materials, I met Sir Yasin Khan who provoked me to join his theater group and thus my first play ‘Putla Dahan’ was staged and it was a hit in Delhi. I also did a short film ‘Devi Ka Udhaar” in which I played role of Lord Parashuram. Producer C.P.Singh (Babbar) saw me in one of my stage show of ‘Putli Dahan’ and he offered me lead role in this film, and I bagged it.

Q : Being a newcomer it must be difficult for you to face camera in beginning ?

A : Definitely it was, but thanks to every body, each and every member of unit helped me out, our choreographers Sanjay ji and Gyan ji, taught me lot which improved me in shoot of songs in Rajpipla. Our action director Singh is King help and cooperation helped me in doing stunt scenes.

Q : What about senior actors like Rani Chatterjee, Raj Premi ?

A : I was literally groomed by director Fahim Khan and Rani Ji, specially I used to get nervous by doing romantic scenes or love scenes in song with Rani Ji, as she is much senior to me, but Rani explained me and gave me courage, that is why I was able to act and have praise from my other senior friends Raj Premi & Gopal Rai. I am also thankful to our lyricist Munna Dube and Music director Suresh Anand for such melodious song in this film.

Q : What’s next ?

A : I have already signed one Hindi films, one of producer Baljeet Rathi who met me during shooting of “Rani banal Jwala” in Rajpipla, he signed for his comedy film “Chatpate Rasgulle”, and I am also doing next bhojpuri film “Bahurani” being produced by C.P.Singh (Babbar) and directed by Manoj Singh & C.P.Singh himself.

Hrithik Roshan talks about his surgery.

Hrithik Roshan who underwent a brain surgery few days back is back home.

Hrithik is advised 4 weeks of rest and then he will be back in action.

First of all, all fear is 99% assumption based, in fact almost ALL worries in life would disappear if we just stop assuming things. I just don’t allow my mind to assume a different truth behind the obvious. Like in relationships…I really love asking people which school they went to to learn how to mind read others! They claim to know not only what’s actually behind what others say, but even the tone behind the words of an sms! anyways, So now if I’m not allowed to mindread others, I’m also not allowed to mind read myself! I did not allow myself to assume something will go wrong. There was no evidence to support that assumption. Once the doctors said local anesthesia is safer except fr the pain, I quickly made my peace with the pain, took the better option and looked forward to a mindblowing (literally) experience! Haha. How could I have any fear then? I was with the best doctors and was armed with objective information. I was making them sing songs while a hole was being drilled into my skull. Why worry until something DOES go wrong!

Yes I can’t afford to take a sick leave. This ofcourse throws a lot of lives, lives of people very dear to me, completely out of whack. But I cannot worry, that solves nothing. I have to focus on what can be! All I have to do is take a decision…I decide that I have the power to turn a curse into a boon, as I have done in the past. I will make up for this in the most wonderful way imaginable for all the people concerned.

I will ofcourse be my most careful.(Laughs) do not worry. That I promise. But I will always be a slave(again a very careful one) to my vision. If I can dream it, I will make it happen. (In the most careful way again) is everyone happy? (Laughs)

Short films find theatres, thanks to Anurag Kashyap

Anurag Kashyap could well be the biggest trendsetter in India. For his collection of short films with Tumbhi titled Shorts, soon to release in the theatres on July 12 seems a new crop of young directors, supported by able actors touching the silver screen.

Interestingly, it is the interest of the actors in promoting and participating in such films that makes the difference to differential entertainment hitting the marquee.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Huma Qureshi, Richa Chadda and Vineet Singh have all gone out of their way to be present at the promotions of Shorts, knowing that it is a limited PVR-Cinemax release.

“It is important that such talent be given the opportunity” says Nawaz simply. Adds Huma, “we knew these films may be hitting the festival circuits only but we wanted to very much be a part of it.”

Adds Richa, “my film is a silent film and there was so much scope for me to act. I loved every moment.” Most of these actors have all won awards for these films at various Festival across the globe, thus strengthening their faith in Anurag’s movement, with dynamic maker Guneet Monga’s support.

While on one hand Anurag seems to be spearheading the movement for such films to hit the marquee, there is an influx of fresh talent that is hitting Bollywood, thanks to these festival films.

There is young Hemwant Tiwari who may not have a godfather like Anurag but is yet talked about as “waiting to be discovered”, having made his mark with Bobby Pushkarna’s Zindagi Bahut Khoobsoorat Hai at Cannes, and there is Nimrat Kaur who shone amid talents like Irrfan Khan and Nawazuddin in Lunchbox to name just two.

Says Hemwant, “my film sees my journey from negativity to positivity where I do not utter a word. It wasn’t easy to play a character like that. Full credits to my director Bobby Pushkarna for bringing out the best in me. And when you get lauded in a platform like Cannes, it is much more than just a morale booster.”

While the youngsters are excited and the actors are supportive, Anurag Kashyap simply moves on as though this is simply what should have been done. If only there were others his ilk. India would see many more such talent waiting in the wings soar and touch the skies!
