Competition Edition
The BMW M5 Competition Edition celebrates the production life of the F10-generation M5, with just 200 M5 Competition Editions offered for sale worldwide. Both power and torque have been increased, making the Competition Edition one of the most potent cars ever produced by BMW. The peak power output now stands at 600 hp equating to a 0-62 mph time of just 3.9 seconds. The standard fitment of the Competition Package, with its even more sportingly focused chassis, ensures the additional power is put to effective use.
The BMW M5 Competition Edition is readily identifiable by the fitment of carbon fiber BMW M Performance Parts and a black kidney grille. The 20-inch alloy wheels are painted Jet Black, and just two exterior colors are available: Mineral White and Carbon Black.
Inside, occupants benefit from Full Black Merino leather upholstery with Opal White contrast stitching, along with further selected details including the unique “1/200” engraving to the interior trim.
The BMW M5 Competition Edition uses an even more powerful version of the twin-turbo V8 found in the standard BMW M5. While retaining the M TwinPower Turbo technology, twin-scroll turbochargers, high-precision direct fuel injection, VALVETRONIC variable valve control and the cross-bank exhaust manifold of the standard car, the Competition Edition runs more boost courtesy of a recalibrated ECU. Top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph. With BMW’s seven-speed M Double Clutch Transmission Drivelogic and Efficient Dynamics technology, including engine Auto Start-Stop and Brake Energy Regeneration, the M5’s fuel consumption remains at an impressive 28.5 mpg.
The renowned sporting qualities of the BMW M5 have been further honed on the Competition Edition with the adoption of the M Competition Package as standard equipment. This consists of stiffer responses from the springs and electronically controlled dampers, along with thicker anti-roll bars. The Active M electronically controlled multi-plate limited slip differential, which intervenes rapidly and precisely at an early stage to control wheelspin and keep the car stable, is re-calibrated for an even more sporty response. Competition Edition
The familiar yet powerful presence of the BMW M5 is further emphasised on the M5 Competition Edition thanks to the use of BMW M Performance Parts. These consist of a rear spoiler, rear diffuser and mirror caps all manufactured from carbon fiber, and a gloss black kidney grille. Just two colors are available – Mineral White and Carbon Black – with the ‘M5 Competition’ logo appearing on the famous side ‘gills’.
The BMW M5 Competition Edition comes with an extensive range of equipment including Adaptive LED headlights, Reversing Assist camera, powered bootlid operation, Comfort Access and sun protection glass. Inside, occupants benefit from front and rear heated seats, an electric rear sunblind and can experience supreme listening through the Bang & Olufsen Advanced audio system.
The BMW M5 Competition Edition also benefits from full Black Merino leather upholstery with Opal White contrast stitching. Opal White is also used for the ‘M5’ logo that now appears on the head restraints of the M Sport multi-function seats, and for the piping of the anthracite floor mats. To accentuate the exclusivity of the car, the M Performance interior trim in carbon finish features the ‘M5 Competition’ logo along with the unique “1/200” designation.

Pure Metal Silver Limited Edition
The BMW M Division has developed the exclusive, 50 units produced for the US only, BMW M5 Pure Metal Silver Limited Edition. The high performance business sedan, featuring the unique paint color Pure Metal Silver has an increased power output of 600 hp and maximum torque of 516 lb.-ft. The BMW M5 Pure Metal Silver Limited Edition ranks among the most powerful automobiles in the model history of the BMW brand. This model comes as standard with an M dual clutch transmission featuring Drivelogic enabling sprints from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds. The 2016 BMW M5 Pure Metal Silver Limited Edition is available from $130,900 plus $995 Destination and Handling starting August 2016.
At the heart of the BMW M5 Pure Metal Silver Limited Edition,sits a 4.4 liter, high reving V8 BMW M TwinPower Turbo engine. An increase in boost pressure and targeted modifications to the engine raises the car’s performance vs. the production model by 40 hp to 600 hp. At the same time, maximum torque has increased by 16 lb-ft.
On the BMW M5 Pure Metal Silver Limited Edition, the standard Competiton Package has been enhanced to include 20-inch forged wheels amplifying the perfectly executed balance between performance output and handling. The Competition Package includes a lowering of the vehicle by 0.4 inches and a firmer setup of the spring damper systems and stabilizers. In combination, the specific control setting for the Active M differential fitted as standard on all BMW M5 models ensures ideal traction. The steering system with an M specific Servotronic function comes with a more direct control map, providing the driver with precise response and enhancing the car’s agility when turning into corners. The vehicle is completely removed from the regular production processes and the surface of the car is checked three times until the surface is 100 percent perfect. To achieve the Pure Metal Silver look the chassis needs a glossy and smooth surface utilizing a Glacier Silver Metal base coat. One more surface check is completed prior to the application of the final coating. After cleaning the vehicle with compressed air, Pure Metal Silver is applied.
