SELECTED EXPERIENCE IN PROJECTS EPGSASN DPI 2011present Ericsson Customer mobile operators Objective EPG formerly GGSN is a traffic analyzer for operators that is able to handle very high loads, analyze protocols and pass data to other products dealing with policies. The product is implemented in C, some parts are in C. Performance is critical, so every new developed feature is run through a severe and intensive performance test phase, where any memory or performance deviation is detected and reported for further analysis and correction. It replaces the up to the moment ubiquitous monolithic architecture deployed in almost all the operators. CUDB is a high performance, high redundancy system based on very robust technologies and underlying systems. Functions Team Leader, implementation proposals, coding. The prototype was enhanced in security terms, capability, functions and databases that could be used to hold the information, among them the Ericsson HSS. Several customizations, depending on the customer preferences were developed, including specific variants of the standard, deployments on different application servers Tomcat, Bea Weblogic, JBoss. The core of the system was implemented on Java J2EE, using Tomcat as the server. The data could be hold either in LDAP or SQL databases, for prototyping demos we developed a simple data storage subsystem that was readily available without any extra installation. The technology employed in the subsystem I worked was J2EE. At Alcatel they used Bea WebLogic and had a system based on the usage of EJB and a object oriented database. Technologies Methodologies J2EE, Weblogic, a propietary object database, Clearcase. Telefonica already had a SAP system deployed and they wanted to offer the users a more friendly interface, using browsers. The Technology used was J2EE, we used Tomcat as the server and we hold a replica of the SAP data on an Oracle database. Role software engineer Defence project aimed to fulfil the need of an integrated, web based, powerful automated system to maintain a database of satellite products, intelligence reports and cartographic data and bring the user an online graphic processing tool to process the images and integrate them in standard reports, also stored in the database, as noted before. All the project was developed under the J2EE paradigm. In this project as the lead developer I attended all the technical meetings with the customer, to understand their needs, clarificate obscure parts of the requisites and all kinds of technical negotiations. As software developer, I designed the database schema, this schema was issued to one of the subcontractors in order to implement and deploy, I was at charge of the architectural and design documents of the catalogue system from the client applet to the several EJBs and servlets that performed the business logic in the server side and its communication with the database server these components could be deployed in different servers, improving the performance of the system, I also collaborated in the design of the image treatment application due to my previous experience. At that time Java, not to say J2EE was starting to enter the professional market and the expertise in the firm was inexistent, so a colleage and me were at charge of the initial design, later I was at charge of coding all the client, a Java Swing Applet that communicated with the EJBs to get the map tiles, it also had minor image manipulation capabilities mostly to fix the geometry of the satellite images and product satellite images insertion in the database As a second function administered all the development server infrastructure, including the TCPIP subnetwork they were located in, the perimeter firewall a FreeBSD machine with the only function of serving as firewall, the intrusion detection software ISS software , security software such as Tripwire, SAINT and Nessus among other more casual tools, backup software Veritas Netbackup. A this was a defence project the security requisites were quite strong and we were forced to have an isolated IT environment. The project servers had Solaris 2.8 installed and migration to 2.9 was planned to be done in 2004, there was three servers and the platform was designed to be vastly improved by adding more servers and software licenses. One of the servers run apache as web server and if more that one server was present at the following layer it would act as load balancing proxy, the next layer was another server running Bea weblogic application server, this server had all the logic deployed in it, mainly Java J2EE components but also run some C code needed to perform processor and memory intensive tasks, finally, the last server run Oracle 8i migration to 9i was scheduled also to occur in 2004. The use of ciphered communications between the serves using IPsec and SSL was being studied at the moment. Technologies Methodologies J2EE, Ant, Swing Applets, C, CVS, Weblogic, Oracle, Apache web server, Solaris, FreeBSD. GMU 2003 Indra Espacio Customer Madrid Urbanism Council. Objective City high quality image and cartography web server. Role software engineer. I wasnt really assigned to this project but due to my experience and knowledge on TCPIP networks and UNIX systems I gave remote and in occasions in site support to our engineers working at the client offices. I gave support on network, firewall and system issues. Technologies Methodologies Solaris, network administration support. SMOG 20012002 Indra Espacio Customer ESA Objective Offer, prototype Role software engineer. I collaborated in the technical offer in the part regarding operative systems and COTS, my collaboration was not very important as the systems was more focused to other areas antennas, data ingestion. Later as a propotype phase was entered I collaborated in the part regarding operative systems, COTS, and lately, as the project was evolving, in the design of a catalogue client and server services. AMACA 2003 Indra Espacio Customer ESA Objective Offer Role software engineer. I collaborated in the technical offer in the part related to system infrastructure, subnetwork topology, COTS, components to develop and technology to use. We proposed two clustered linux boxes, Oracle 9i as asked In the requirements, I thought that MySQL was quite fine but at the time almost all the customers wanted Oracle and J2EE as the paradigm under to code. The technical offer was first, with a 92 score, but the commercial offer seemed to be far from the competitors and so we got second place combining both scores.
