K POP-UP AUDUBON! LEAF LITTER CRITTERS
Every Saturday and Sunday starting April 5, 12 - 4 p.m.(except April 19, 20, 26 & 27) Look for the orange tent by the Binnen Bridge, near the Audubon Center. Free.
Join the Prospect Park Alliance for a new season of Pop-Up Audubon, the popular environmental education program that takes place throughout the Park, now in its second year.
2 pm: Nature on the Go!
A healthy forest has helpers to ensure the circle of life goes on. Uncover the secrets of soil creatures, fungus, and decomposition. Learn how to create your own compost bin.
3 pm: Nature’s Helpers
Spend some time enjoying nature while helping to keep the Park clean. Take a tour of the Park and help keep it clean along the way. Gloves, garbage bags and trash grabbers will be provided.
4 pm: Family Bird Watching
Learn how to observe and identify some of the 200 species of birds that pass through Prospect Park.
K FLAX PLANTING AT LEFFERTS HISTORIC HOUSE
1 – 4 p.m. Lefferts Historic House. $3 suggested donation. (also Sunday April 6)
Celebrate Opening Day with the Alliance at Lefferts Historic House. Help plant the first crop of the season, and have some spring fun spreading flax seed, watering the garden or challenging friends and family to historic hoop games. While you’re there, make a fun Lefferts button to take home.
COFFEE BARK: Saturday, April 5
7 – 9 a.m. Long Meadow by Picnic House. Free.
Bring your pups to the Park for treats and great company. FIDO in Prospect Park offers free goodies for dogs and their owners as well as provides information pertaining to off-leash activities and issues.
EARLY MORNING BIRD WALK: CHANGING SEASONS, CHANGING BIRDS:

Join the Prospect Park Alliance at the Audubon Center to welcome the earliest spring migrants to the Park, and say goodbye to some of our winter residents. Rain or shine. Led by the Brooklyn Bird Club.

11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Grand Army Plaza
The food trucks are back! Join the Prospect Park Alliance and sample treats from New York’s best food trucks. All trucks are members of the New York City Food Truck Association.
PANCREATIC 5K PURPLESTRIDE: Saturday, April 12
8 a.m. – 1 p.m. Nethermead/Park Drive
PurpleStride New York City is a family-friendly timed 5k run/walk. It includes opening ceremonies, a DJ, kid zone (includes face painter, balloon artist and other interactive activities), refreshments/food for participants, event décor and a village area with organizational information, team photo area, t-shirt tent, sponsor booths, etc.

BONES OF AN OLD DUTCH FARMHOUSE TOUR: Sunday, April 13
12 – 1 p.m. Lefferts Historic House. $10 admission
Join the Prospect Park Alliance to examine the white oak timbers (the bones) of Lefferts Historic House and the many layers that were added, subtracted and changed over the past 230 years. Climb the staircase for a view of the attic’s smokehouse and descend into the cellar for a look at the foundation. For adults and teenagers; 10 people per tour.
