“If I want to be well, I’ve got to take charge of my own body and decide what I want for treatments. I know my body better than anyone else on the planet.” – Sandi Rog

Cancer sneaks up on a lot of people.  Too many people in today’s world get diagnosed with cancer.

I’m helping friends and family in their personal learning quests and their healing journeys to fight cancer.

It can be overwhelming, so I’m sharing the books that I found the most useful.  I don’t get caught up in the agendas or biases.  I look for real stories, real results, insights, inspiration, and interesting perspectives.

By going across several books on cancer, health, and healing, I hope to gain a broader perspective, new ideas, fresh thinking, and a better balcony view of what’s available in the world today.

Books that Help You Fight Cancer Naturally

31-Day Home Cancer Cure, by Ty Bollinger.  This is really a quick start guide to fighting cancer.  It includes the following topics: success stories, why so many Americans are getting cancer today, 31-day detox protocol, daily habits – eating plan, change from acidic to alkaline, exercise like rebounding, Nordic walking, Laetrile, the Budwig protocol, LifeOne, prostate cancer, and breast cancer.

Skin cancer, Appendix of cancer clinics.

A Cancer Therapy: Results of Fifty Cases and the Cure of Advanced Cancer by Diet Therapy, by Max Gerson.  This is the most complete book on the Gerson Therapy, along with 50 documented case studies.  It also includes a modified version of the Gerson Therapy to use in nonmalignant scenarios or for prevention.

A Day in the Budwig Diet: The Book, by Ursual Escher and Gene Wei.  This is one of the best books on the Budwig approach.  Dr. Budwig was one of the first to understand the healing properties of essential fatty acids, and was one of the first to fight against the use of hydrogentated oils in food products.  She was also a pioneer in physics (energy) medicine.  This book provides a backgrounder on Dr. Budwig, an overview of foods to avoid, Budwig’s main recipes (Linomel, Oleolux, Linomel-Muesli), a transition diet, a section on Eldi oil treatments, a walkthrough of Budwig’s daily routine, and bonus illustrated guides.

Cancer – The Problem and the Solution, by Johanna Budwig.  This book summarizes Johanna Budwig’s 50 years of cancer research and treatment.  Dr. Budwig who was nominated for the Nobel Prize seven times was one of Germany’s leading scientists of the 20th Century, a biochemist and blood specialist with a special interest in fats. Working with Otto Warburg’s research into cancer and cellular oxygen-deficiency, she identified in 1951 the precise biochemical breakdown point which results in cancer. Studying the blood of cancer sufferers, she identified cancer principally as a “fat” problem.  Dr. Budwig had a success rate of 90% over 2,500 cancer patients over 50 years.

Cancer: Step Outside the Box, by Ty Bollinger.  This is a book written out of passion and pain.  After losing several family members to cancer, Ty began a quest to learn all he could about alternative cancer treatments.  He focuses on approaches that avoid surgery, chemo, and radiation ( or slash, poison, and burn.)  The big idea in the book is to step outside the box of a very drug-intensive style of medicine, since Multinational pharmaceutical companies (“Big Pharma”) tend to fun medical schools.  This book is really a thick-index or hub/spoke guide with a balcony view to look across a wide array of treatments.  This is really the more complete, companion guide to the 31-Day Home Cancer Cure.

Cancer-Free: Your Guide to Gentle, Non-Toxic Healing, by Bill Henderson.   This book provides a slow-and-steady approach to fighting cancer.  Bill paired up with Dr. Carlos M. Garcia, M.D., a holistic physician who has healed many cancer patients.  Bill is a cancer coach who has helped more than 8,000 people become cancer-free by connecting them to doctors, clinics, web sites, and resources.  He has a newsletter that reaches 34,000 readers, a vast network of cancer doctors, nurses, cancer survivors, and cancer crusaders like him.  He also has a radio show, www.WebTalkRadio.net, where he interviews experts about cancer prevention and healing.

Cancer’s Cause, Cancer’s Cure: The Truth about Cancer, Its Causes, Cures, and Prevention, by Morton Walker, D.P.M.  Morton dedicates this book to his wife. He lost his wife, Joan Bloom Walker, to breast cancer. He believes that if he had the information in this book about Dr. Mirko Beljanski’s discoveries that it would have contributed to saving her life.

Cured My Pancreatic Cancer at Home, by William Trucks.  This is a graphic journey of how William cured his cancer.  William used a strong combination of salves to cure his late stage 4, multi-organ cancer.  He used a combination of drawing salves and powerful antibiotic salves to draw the cancer out from his body, while healing himself in the process.  The pictures in the book are unbelievable.  William provides a visual journey of what he went through so you can see exactly what to expect when you use salves.  After a lot of research, William found that salves were used with an astounding rate in some societies and were available in the US through American Indian formulas.

Doctor Yourself: Natural Healing That Works, by Andrew W. Saul, Ph. D.  The whole idea of doctoring yourself is to promote the idea of health self-reliance.  This book is an interesting read on how you can take control of your health using a nutritional approach.  In Part One, Dr. Saul walks through natural healing protocols for things like acid reflux, allergies, Azheimer’s, arthritis, cancer, depression, diabetes, eyesight, firbroids, gout, hypertension, malaria and more.  In Part Two, Dr. Saul walks through natural healing tools and techniques, which is a combination of nutrition, supplements, and exercise.

Dr. Max Gerson: Healing the Hopeless, by Howard Straus, Barbara Marinacci, and Abram Hoffer, MD.  This is the only biography of Dr. Max Gerson, German dietary therapy pioneer who developed the now-famous Gerson Therapy for cancer and other chronic diseases. Gerson started his departure from conventional medicine by curing his own migraine headaches with a diet of his own devising, and discovered by accident that it also healed skin tuberculosis. Further clinical experiments showed that the holistic, diet-based therapy was effective against virtually all chronic and degenerative diseases, including advanced cancer.  Gerson’s lifelong friend, Nobel Laureate Albert Schweitzer, called Gerson “one of the most eminent medical geniuses to ever walk among us.”

Eat For Health, by Joel Fuhrman, M.D.  What I like about this book is that it’s Dr. Fuhrman’s proven system for promoting health and reversing disease.  This is the primary book I used when I wanted to help my Mom get her health back.  It’s a deep education on how to use nutrition and how to actually use foods as your medicine.  Dr. Fuhrman does a great job of helping you build better eating habits and translating insight into action.

Effortless Healing: 9 Simple Ways to Sidestep Illness, Shed Excess Weight, and Help Your Body Fix Itself, by Dr. Joseph Mercola.  Dr. Mercola is anline health pioneer, natural medicine advocate, and bestselling author.  This guide is a distillation of decades of Dr. Mercola’s experience and cutting-edge medical knowledge.  In this book, he shows you how you can use knowledge and your body to optimize your health, your weight, and your life…effortlessly.  According to Dr. Mercola, your body does these things automatically and effortlessly. He asserts that vibrant health is your birthright and within your grasp; you just have to step out of the way.

God’s Healing Word, by Felicity Corbin Wheeler.  This is a first-hand account of Felicity’s personal healing journey.  In this book, Felicity shares her trials and tribulations on her path to recovery, along with what worked and what didn’t.  It’s raw, it’s real, it’s filled with pain and anguish, and it also provides hope, insight, and inspiration for those that need it  most.  Felicity shares the details of her treatments along with what she experienced, and what was going through her mind, and what was happening to her body, and how she built her strength and firm foundation.

I Have Cancer: What Should I Do?: Your Orthomolecular Guide for Cancer Management, by Michael J. Gonzalez, Jorge R. Miranda-Massari, Andrew W. Saul.  This is a deep dive into how you can build your immune defense through a combination of supplements, detoxification, exercise, relaxation, positive psychology, and spiritual empowerment.

Knockout: Doctors Who Are Curing Cancer, by Suzanne Somers.  Suzanne Somers interviews doctors who are successfully using the most innovative cancer treatments—treatments that build up the body rather than tear it down.  In Part 1, she shares her personal cancer story, introduces the doctors, and sets the stage.  In Part II, Suzanne interviews doctors who are curing cancer, including Dr. Stanislaw Burzynski, Dr. Nicholas Gonzales, Dr. James Forsythe, and Dr. Julie Taguchi.  In Part III, Suzanne focuses on preventing cancer before it starts and shares interviews with Dr. Russell Blaylock, Burton Goldberg, David Schmidt, Dr. Jonathan Wright, Dr. Stephen Sinatra, Dr. Michael Galitzer, and Cristiana Paul. MS.  At the end of the book, Suzanne also shares what you need to know if you choose traditional treatment.

The Doctor Who Cures Cancer, by William Kelley Eidem.  This is an interesting book about Dr. Emanuel Revici. M.D., who started curing cancer in the early to mid 1930’s.  As the story goes, Emanuel Revici, M.D., makes the bones grow back. Yes, bones eaten away by cancer reappear on x-rays. Patients, once crippled, walk again. All types of tumors vanish and pain is replaced by energy. This is the story of Dr. Revici, and his amazing discoveries.  This book also includes the biographies of dozens of his lucky patients.

The Gerson Therapy, by Charlotte Gerson.  This is a hard-core book and is the complete guide on the Gerson Therapy.  According to Charlotte, this book includes all of the information from the book A Cancer Therapy: Results of Fifty Cases and the Cure of Advanced Cancer by Diet Therapy, by her father Max Gerson, and extends it with her latest learnings and insights.  Part One is all about how the Gerson Therapy works.  Part Two is all about the Gerson Therapy in action.  It dives into success stories, and explains the impact of salt, nutrition, detox, and the power of coffee enemas.  Part Three is about how to adapt the Gerson Therapy for various diseases.  Part Four is practical guidance for using the Gerson Approach.  It includes the pyschological approaches, how to follow the Gerson Therapy on your own, what the Gerson Lab tests check for, and includes a series of success stories by patients, and then concludes with recipes.

The Macrobiotic Approach to Cancer, by Michio Kushi.  This is the book that started Dr. Anthony Sattilaro on his recovery from cancer.  Michio Kushi shares his insights toward a long-lasting approach for fighting cancer.  Also included are twelve personal stories of cancer victims who overcame illness through Macrobiotics.  According to Michio Kushi, diet is a principle cause of cancer.  He says a diet based on whole grains, sea and land vegetables, beans, and seasonal fruits could present, and, in many cases, help reverse the process of cancer.  In this book, Mr, Kushi details the Macrobiotic diet and lifestyle that has helped thousands of individuals recover from illness and find better health and peace of mind.

You Don’t Have To Hurt Anymore, by Cindy Sellers.  This is a very special book about freeing up your inner-Angel and learning how your body works.  It’s a guide to working with your body rather than working against it.  A core premise in the book is that love is fundamental to health and healing.

I’ll add to this list as I continue my journey.   I’ve been able to get something from each of the books.  I especially enjoy the books that have real stories from real people with real results.

With each book, I add more tools to my toolbox, and I gain new perspective on how to look at the tapestry of the various threads of health.

At the end of the day, what I find in my quest for truth is that ultimately true wisdom connects at the underlying principles, patterns, and practices.
