In an exclusive interview, David A. R, White has given an update on his latest movie as a producer with his Pure Flix Entertainment Production and Distribution Company, “Do You Believe?“  He has also shared an update and overview of his life in the entertainment industry and lessons learned.

Sonoma Christian Home Contributor Dr. Diane Howard caught up with the star to talk.

SCH: How did you get started in Hollywood?

DW: I came from a Mennonite town and moved to L.A. to pursue an acting career when I was nineteen years old. Six months after moving to L.A., I was cast in a recurring role that I played for three years as the best friend of Burt Reynolds’ son on the hit CBS series Evening Shade.

David then made guest appearances on such shows as: Coach, Saved by the Bell, Sisters, Melrose Place and many others. In February 1999, David helped create, produce, and play the lead in the feature length film, The Moment After. In 2000, David produced and played the lead dual roles in the theatrical film Mercy Streets. In 2004, he produced and acted in SIX: The Mark Unleashed and the 20th Century Fox film The Visitation. He worked with many legendary actors, during these years.

SCH: When did you start Pure Flix Entertainment?

DW: In the late 2005, three colleagues and I started Pure Flix Entertainment to produce and distribute Faith and Family films.

In the first year of the company, David produced and played the lead roles in Hidden Secrets and The Moment After 2…the Awakening and produced The Wager starring Randy Travis. The following year, David wrote, produced and starred in Holyman Undercover, which was based on his one man comedy show. David has continued producing, directing and starring in many of the Pure Flix films over the last several years, including starring in Brother White, Me Again, Marriage Retreat, Revelation Road 1 &2 and many others.

SCH: What is planned for the future for Pure Flix?

DW: Following the success of Pure Flix’ God’s Not Dead and recently Do You Believe?, Pure Flix now has the following movies in the works: Faith of our Fathers, Woodlawn, God’s Not Dead 2, and Do you Believe? 2.

SCH: What lessons have you learned about the film industry and faith-based movies?

DW: Having been involved in the film and television industries since the 1990’s and in the faith-based film industry since the late 1990’s, I have seen that the film and entertainment industry has ebbs and flows and how this is true also of faith-based film producing. Most recently in the ups and downs of the faith-based film industry, the so-called Year of the Bible in 2014 saw three movies in theaters make 250 million dollars: Son of God, Heaven is for Real, and God’s Not Dead.

David A. R. White has been involved with recent blockbusters “God’s Not Dead” & “Do You Believe?”

In the ongoing popularity, success, and momentum of faith-based, Christian, redemptive films for theaters, homes, and streaming Do You Believe? has been an even more artistic and substantive movie in terms of content and “higher levels of insight.” More and more actors from mainstream programming are participating along with him in faith-based, Christian, redemptive movies. Even Oscar-winning, legendary actors, directors, producers are becoming involved, as is the case in Do You Believe?

Having been released in theaters March 20, Do You Believe? is still in theaters. According to Mojo Box Office on April 7, it is currently number nine at the box office. Stay tuned for more about Pure Flix movies and other good redemptive movies. We are seeing a Renaissance and Reformation in movies and television today, which has been a positive development in the days in which we live.
