We’re moving into warmer days, which means the inevitable rise of both temperatures and hemlines. To get the legs you want to really rock those rompers this summer, you may want to take a page out of a dancer’s book. Barre just may be the new Pilates.

Barre combines the discipline and structure of ballet with the fluidity of yoga and the strength of Pilates. It focuses primarily on your legs, glutes and core to build muscle and tone any problem areas. Deep pirouettes combined with lengthening stretches give you the long, lean muscles of a dancer.

While the benefits of a certified barre class are well worth the money, you can do a lot of these moves at home with nothing but a chair for balance. 10 minutes a day is all it takes, as long as you’re focused and your eyes are on the prize. Once you are familiar with some of the basic moves, you can ditch the instructional videos and turn on a soothing playlist to really get the best out of your workout.

Popsugar’s “Fitsugar” series has created “The Look Good Naked Barre Workout” led by trainer Tracey Mallett to give you an introduction onto the barre method that you can fit into any schedule. Follow along as she walks you through each move for tighter glutes and slimmer thighs. Your lower body will feel like jelly after a few squats and pirouettes, but no pain no gain ladies. It’s totally worth it.
