Marek Hemmann – Zunder
(Freude am Tanzen)
House / Electronic / Techno

Safety Scissors – In A Manner Of Sleeping
(Bpitch Control)
Electronica / Pop

A Manner Of Sleeping is an album that can’t be pigeon-holed – any genre corset is burst open by its eclecticism and sudden surprises. This makes the incredible consistency of the album, produced in New York, all the more remarkable. MPC instills a common overarching mood into all the songs – cheerful yet pensive – and muses with the wink of an eye and a mischievous grin about writer’s block, gravity and inertia, infinity and relativity. In A Manner Of Sleeping is full of endearing quirks, but it’s also easy to get hooked on – playful, twisted avant-pop at its best.

Martin Brodin – Don’t Stop The dance
(MB Disco)
Nu Disco

Martin Brodin takes on Bryan Ferry‘s classic Don’t Stop The Dance from 1985 with remixes from LeSale (Luv Shack) and Ytre Rymden Dansskola (Full Pupp).

City Soul Project – Smokin’
(Sideways Recordings)
House / Tech House

With our 23rd release Sideways dips its toes into the cool waters of Jazz with Smokin’. Excellent UK deep house label Savoir Faire pays a visit to the roster with the awesome City Soul Project teaming up with Tony S for some smooth tech house with just a hint of jazz! Remixes are from Sideways’ own Keydin and Fraser Owen and introducing Portuguese artist Luis Bravo from the Azores…..

Si Tew - Not My Fault – The Remixes
(Phat Elephant)
Deep House

After the January 2013 release of the firs Phat Elephant release of Si Tew we just couldn’t get enough of the great tracks and had to have more! So here are some very special versions and remixes by Si Tew himself, the Swedish duo DirtyTwo and Trueself. Enjoy!

Alden Tyrell & Gerd - Luv Thang
(4Lux Black)
Deep House

Gerd hooks up with Alden Tyrell for this firing release! Luv Thang is a dirty house track featuring sleazy vocals by Jessy Allen. Girls Can’t Swim has an abstract techy feel. Two big tracks on one slice of wax!

Acre - Forgotten E.P

(Lost Codes)
Bass / Garage / UK Funky / Grime

Second release in two weeks for Visionist’s Lost Codes label, which is cementing itself as being right at the forefront of out-there electronic music. Acre has released on Saturate records and features on the new Tectonic Plates Vol. 4 compilation, and is one of those artists chipping away hard at the surfaces of the deadlier areas of grime, techno and industrial. These are five of his most grime-centric productions and are as dark as a moonless night, and should be filed alongside Blackest Ever Black, Ancient Methods, Blawan etc as readily as with any more conventional grime.

Oana Catalina Chitu – Divine
(Asphalt Tango Records)
World

Romanian songs from the repertoire of Maria Tănase (1913-1963) Maria Tănase is loved in Romania like no singer that has followed her. 2013 markes the centenary of her birth and this anniversary has inspired Oana Cătălina Chiţu to pay homage to the legendary diva. Chiţu, with her charming soulful voice and her multi-ethnic ensemble, transports Maria Tănase’s songs into our time. The new arrangements never betray the spirit of the original versions, but bow down before a divine singer, who is ready to be discovered by an international audience.

Various Artists – Stand Up, People
(Asphalt Tango Records)
World

This astonishing collection of rare Pop songs by Gypsy musicians from Tito’s socialist Yugoslavia builds on the success of Asphalt Tango Records‘ “Sounds from a Bygone Age” series, which gathered together long-lost gems of Romanian music. Now delving for the first time into the untapped riches of the former Yugoslavia, Stand Up, People presents the diverse and almost forgotten sounds of 60s and 70s Serbia, Macedonia and Kosovo, with nineteen tracks that highlight the flowering of Roma culture in that period.

Michael Freund – Piano Seul
(christine records)
Classical

“Michael Freund”, who is often referred to as the “Chopin of the 20./21. Century” presents his debut album “Piano Seul” – a masterpiece of modern compositions for Piano. Relaxed melancholy meets soulful melodies which enchant everyone.

Evangelist – Doominicanes
(Doomentia Records)
Doom Metal / Heavy Metal / Rock

Of course to some remaining anonymous is a publicity stunt. Just a perverted way to tease people’s attention and let them rambling on if, yes or no, there’s a so-called ‘famous’ guy hidden behind the mask… But to others, it is truly an act of faith. A way of underlining on the most plain and honest way that at the end of the day, only music matters and that as such, true artists that truly believe in its sheer power just have this urge to give up their individuality and step aside to let it shine unconditionally. And EVANGELIST is a prime example of such mentality.
