3D-printer company Solidoodle saw business grow through the first half of 2013, with over $4 million in total sales to date since its launch.

$4000000 revenue... and still no email ticketing system.

But seriously for a moment....

That also works out to about 5700+ printers on an average spend of $699 - which seems a little inflated considering that MBI have only ever shipped just over 20,000 printers in 4 years..... so over half that $4Million must have been in Filament and HotEnds....  If we use a $499 benchmark, then that increases the theoertical units to closer to 8000 units... Both these numbers seem very distorted, since I recall reading somewhere that the actual shipped-units was closer to the 2500 mark ??

I guess though, thats revenue, so includes the often hideously expensive and 50% of the sales-price shipping cost on overseas orders...

MBI also claimed a 21.6% market share back in 2011, and this was based on 13,000 units shipped of an estimated 32,000-70,000 units in operation worldwide (yes, the figure was that wide... which actually gave MBI closer to 40% of the market instead of their stated 21.6% if you accept the lower total-units-worldwide figure..... )

So - Solidoodle must be serious players in the Marketshare game now.. or people buy a lot of stuff other than printers from Solidoodle...... and the total number of 3D printer units moved in the past 12mths must have positively exploded (in hard unit sales, not hype... )
