Vans, the original action sports brand, and London design house, Liberty Art Fabrics, come together this holiday season to introduce the fourth Vans x Liberty Art Fabrics capsule. Set for release in October, the collection presents five iconic Vans’ silhouettes in detailed prints and patterns from Liberty’s extensive fabric archive. The assortment features collaborative editions of the Era, Old Skool and Sk8-Hi Reissue in traditional unisex sizes alongside feminine takes on the Authentic and Classic Slip-On in women’s sizing.
Colored in subtle tones of navy and grey respectively, the Era and Sk8-Hi Reissue are outfitted in Bay Laurel, an interweaving paisley and floral design in a classic block style. The low-top Era showcases the arrangement from ankle to toe while the Sk8-Hi introduces a more subdued form showcasing suede overlays, leather Sidestripe swatches and embellished quarter panels. Liberty’s Belmont Ivy, created by artist Justine Smith, is highlighted on the side sections of Old Skool and pops against the black leather Sidestripe and black suede overlays of Vans’ first-ever skateboarding shoe. Up close, you’ll find ivy leaves created from world bank notes, a signifier for Smith’s work.
The Vans x Liberty Art Fabrics collection expands to women’s specific styles this holiday season to include the Authentic and Classics Slip-On. The Authentic features Seth Rankine, a small Liberty geometric motif composed of stylized trees, creating the illusion of an endless forest across the low-top, lace-up. Rounding out the Vans offering, the original Classic Slip-On presents Kevin, a celestial pattern of constellations that were hand drawn in white and grey chalks on to black paper in the Liberty Design Studio to create a conversational starry night.
The Vans x Liberty Art Fabrics holiday collection retails from $60 to $75 USD and arrives this October at Vans retail locations, vans.com and the one and only Liberty of London on Regent Street.
