These speed flow curves are shown in Table 2-1. A further set of speed flow curves was used within the Western Wilts model as shown in Table 2-2. The completed highway network includes the A37 as its western limit, the A354 as its southern limit, and the A34 to the east and the M4 to the west. Figure 2-2 shows the key links included in the network along with the areas of detailed simulation coding. The Western Wiltshire and Bath models consist of a zone structure that divides the whole of the UK into zones, their size dependant on their vicinity to the relative study area. As a result the Bath model contains very fine zoning for Bath (201 zones) and coarse zoning outside Bath (including West Wiltshire 11 zones).

This applies conversely to the Western Wiltshire model, which has over 300 zones for West Wiltshire but less than 10 for Bath. In order to be able to use the three models within a merged model that reproduces the independent validated performance as best it can, it is necessary to have a zoning system that matches the detail of the networks. This means that the merged model includes the fine zoning system where simulation coding exists but coarse zoning around the buffer network.

The BB2SC models therefore take the fine zoning for Bath from the Bath Multi Modal Model, fine zoning for Western Wiltshire from the Western Wiltshire Model and zoning for Salisbury from the Salisbury model. The remainder of the study area uses the Bath zoning system as a basis, Best SEO consultant with areas of Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire split further. 269 zones are taken directly from the Bath model, 93 form the Salisbury model, 376 from the Western Wiltshire model and a further 30 resulting from splitting existing Bath model zones.

A sector system has been created by the aggregation of zones into large regions as shown in Table 3-1 and is shown in Figure 3-1. The aim of the matrix development process was to extract the most reliable movements from each of the trip matrices from the three available highway models to form the most robust composite matrix. The Bath, Western Wiltshire and Salisbury models provided trips patterns localised to the detailed areas of each respective model. The original RSI data was also not available, and the development of the 12 hour model was therefore through extrapolation of the data sets available.
