When heading outside in the Winter, it’s imperative to dress for the low temperatures. Who really cares how cute you look if your teeth are chattering so hard that you can barely mutter a word because you’re dressed inappropriately for the cold weather. Of course, you want to look good too and that’s where Porsche Design sweeps in to save the day. At the corner of function and form, Porsche, along with new Fashion Creative Director Pierre Costin, have created a collection that combines impeccable taste and design with clothing that is built to perform. The Fall/Winter Collection 2016 collection debuted last week to a select audience in Berlin during Berlin Fashion Week.

Starting with the selection of materials and fabrics, right down to the ingenious details, new Pierre Costin focuses on the technical, functional qualities of the design. Apart from its striking visuals, the collection is characterized by the use of innovative fabrics and new technical workmanship to add special functional performance qualities; such as with the elegant, waterproof, reversible business coat, produced with the aid of laser cutting. Amazing.

“Sophistication” — outstanding quality and high value down to the smallest details; comfort, and cool, casual elegance — these are the main features of the new collection. Designed for people who want to relax on the plane, and then go straight to their meetings from the airport, remaining perfectly styled throughout. For those whose unobtrusive, smart-casual style demonstrates their confidence in all situations. Porsche Design intentionally combines formal elements with cooler, more casual style elements inspired from the world of sneakers. In the area of fashion the goal of Porsche Design is to offer sporty elegant looks with great functionality that can also complement classic, more formal looks.

A great example of this season’s new style for Porsche Design can be found in the casual and distinctive Porsche Design “zip-out blazers”, which have easily-removable integrated light down elements, allowing flexible use across different climate zones.

Only a few months after Dr. Christian Kurtzke became CEO of Porsche Design, the fashion category at Porsche Design is being realigned. Effective immediately, Pierre Costin has been appointed as Fashion Creative Director, which also entails directing the label’s fashion design team in Berlin. French-Canadian Pierre Costin has previously worked as a designer for renowned international labels such as Ralph Lauren and Kenneth Cole. In his new role as Fashion Creative Director he will be responsible for executing the new positioning of Porsche Design fashion.

“Sporty-elegant design, the highest quality, and special performance: basically, this is the application of the Porsche Automobile’s success criteria in the world of fashion – intentionally not as haute couture, but as ready-to-wear clothes for every day”, explains Fashion Creative Director Pierre Costin. “A challenge that I approach with enthusiasm as well as great respect.”
