Day 1 (Friday, March 28) - a variety of field trips, excursions and behind-the-scenes tours at various places throughout San Diego during the day (invert/herp houses at SD Zoo, Birch Aquarium, Andy's Orchids). That evening is a social mixer and keynote lecture which is free to the public (hosted at Sheraton Mission Valley San Diego). The lecturer is Tim Paine (http://amphibios.org/) who is an avid traveler, nature photographer, and supporter of conservation. He will be talking about the importance of travel in the role of understanding the various flora/fauna we keep, as well as learning from the indigenous people of these area...and also working with them to preserve the native ecosystems. This is a social event and there will be a bar and plenty of time for talking, socializing, etc. The hotel is also offering a special MICROCOSM rate for those who are flying in for the event or want to stay (if anyone is interested in this, let me know and I can provide the reservation link).

Day 2 (Saturday, March 29) - Vendor show which ends with a live auction/fundraiser. Held at the Scottish Rite Ctr just a block or so away from the hotel. Throughout the day there are also talks/workshops going on that participants can sit in on. All funds--from the gate sales to table sales to money brought in from the auction--go to TWI's amphibian conservation programs.

The two-day event includes field trips and behind-the-scenes tour, as well as a keynote lecture/mixer on Friday. Saturday features the vendor/exhibitor show and a number of talks throughout the day on various taxa and captive husbandry topics (including aquascaping)...all culminating in a live auction featuring donated animals, plants and supplies.
