If you need any further proof that the animated GIFs is now an official art form, then look no further than the surrealist animations of Chilean photographer [Jon Jacobsen](http://www.jon-jacobsen.com/).

His hypnotizing self-portraits (known as [cinemagraphs](http://sobadsogood.com/2011/09/01/24-visually-stunning-stanley-kubrick-cinemagraphs/)), which seem him merging and drifting into countless haunting shapes and images, will dazzle and confound you. It's as if [Salvador Dali](http://sobadsogood.com/tag/salvador-dali/) himself, has thrown a possessed Jacobsen into a supernatural realm, only to sit back and watching him toil through the lens of a kaleidoscope.

> “As a child I dreamt of becoming an astronaut, now I create a universe myself. Daily life lies between the real world and fantasy."

Jacobsen is by no means a new comer to the world of surrealism and dreamlike scenarios, he's widely celebrated for this fantastical fashion shoots that have appeared in the likes of  Vogue Italia and Saatchi galleries. The following animations though, are literally adding a new dimension of his imaginary and ghostly work.

What do you like most about them?
