Gordy, have you tried a hobby shop? A friend tells me that the hollow brass tube that I use is often found at hobby shopes. I have found that the quality/strength of the poplar dowels varies pretty widely among vendors. I have a couple of sections that are heavier weight that I use for the lower two sections if I am using a heavy loop or going for maximum extension (I never go beyond 12 feet as I am too clumsy). I guess I have been lucky. So far none of my poles has swelled so much as to get stuck.
