The Give Good Awards Foundation of Snoqualmie Valley recently announced nominees for its 2014 awards. The Foundation recognizes inspirational people and organizations that make the Valley a better place to live.
The categories and nominees included:
Arts: Mary Miller, Jill Rockwell, Carol Reitz and Amy Friedman
Business: Andrea Heuston of Artitudes Design, Cindy Walker of the North Bend Theatre, Christi Irwin of The Irwin Group, and Wendy Thomas and Brian Wooley of Carmichael’s True Value Hardware.
Courage: Snoqualmie Valley Relay of Life.
Environmental: Nicole Sanders of the city of Snoqualmie and Erick and Wendy Haakenson of Jubilee Farms.
Educational Excellence: Mickey Fowler, Laurie Shepherd, Matt Wenman, Brad Hillard, Brian McCormick and Rachel O’Neill.
Youth Advocate: Zach Habben, John Lockie, Michelle Carnes and Joel Bauer.
Parent Volunteer: Joe Richter, Mike Hedrick and Curt Carlson.
Teen Spirit: Kianna Hales, Max Haverfield, Sparkle Cheer Team and Rachel Mallasch.
Youth Leadership Incentive: Jessica Morris and Hannah Buzard, Christian Glennon, Abbey Bottemiller and Priceton See.
Unsung Hero: Tom and Nancy White, Tina Rancho, Mark Henning, Ashley Glennon, and Rebecca Kitz.
Spirit of the Valley: Kevin and Laurie Hauglie, Del and Nancy Moore, and DeAnna Haverfield.
The Give Good Awards program begins at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 28 at the Church on the Ridge, 35131 S.E. Douglas St., Snoqualmie.
Angela Craig, president of the Give Good Awards Foundation, said that recognizing people and highlighting the hard work invested into making the community a great place to live inspires others to get involved.
Matt Larson, mayor of Snoqualmie, will be the master of ceremonies and Chris Fagan, who recently skied to the South Pole, will be the keynote speaker.
