MANATEE COUNTY – Looking for a furry friend to take home? Halloween may be the perfect excuse.

Hans Wohlgefahrt is the Event Specialist at Manatee County Animal Service’s. He says Adopt-O-Ween Howls and Meows is a two-day event, waiving all adoption fees on cats and dogs.

“We have over 300 cats and dogs,” says Wohlgefahrt. All of them are ready to find a home.

“It’s a really great deal for people to come on out because all these animals have been neutered or spayed, they’ve had full medical review and they’ve had all their vaccinations,” says Wohlgefahrt. Hundreds of dollars in medical treatment completely waived. The catch?

“If they’re a Manatee County Resident all they have to do is buy the license which is 15 dollars,” says Wohlgefahrt. The event is all about helping these animals find a forever home.

“Bully breeds and pit bulls, they make terrific pets and we have really a lot of them in our shelter right now,” says Wohlgefahrt. Finding the perfect pet takes time. “We really want people to come here for the right reasons, take their time, we don’t want to rush them into getting an animal because it is, it’s a life-time commitment to that animal,” he says.

It’s a life-long commitment for the animal too, which is why Manatee County Animal Services gives you plenty of play time to find the perfect match before signing any papers.

You can visit the Adopt-O-Ween Howls and Meows event at their Facebook page. You can also take a look at all the cats and dogs online.

Manatee County Animal Services is located at 305 25th St W. in Palmetto. They have another location in Downtown Bradenton selling only cats. They are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the adoption promotion lasts from October 28th to the 29th.
