The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Operations Bureau has completed its move into the new Sarasota County Government Emergency Operations Center this week.

All the phone lines for emergency 9-1-1 calls were transferred to the new facility on August 19th. Operators for the new system also moved into the new EOC also arrived that day.

According to a Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office report this week the upgraded CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch) and MPS (Mobile for Public Safety) systems were integrated. That process facilitated the move for remaining call screeners and staff.

“This technology will allow us to provide better service to citizens in an increasingly wireless mobile society,” explained Sarasota Co. Sheriff Tom Knight. “In line with our Intelligence to Action program led by policing, deputies will automatically have additional information about the call or location they are responding to, which enhances their safety and decision-making abilities.”

The new facility is located off Cattleman Rd. at 6050 Porter Way in Sarasota.
