The Marie Selby Botanical Gardens in Sarasota is celebrating forty years of being open to the public. The Selby Gardens first opened on July 7, 1975, and has almost doubled in size since then. It has become a world-class research center and attraction in the Suncoast area. With over 140,000 visitors a year, many of all ages are wowed by the urban waterfront garden. With the Gardens turning forty, their staff and volunteers have a very busy 12 months planned.
