For the 4th year in a row the La Plata Police Department is partnering with the United States Marine Corps Reserve in the Toys for Tots Campaign. All of the toys collected will be delivered to less fortunate children in Charles County. Donations of new toys can be dropped off in the bin in the lobby of the La Plata Police Department, at 101 La Grange Avenue, or the lobby of the Town Hall, 305 Queen Anne Street. Last year, the generous donations from La Plata citizens and business owners put quite a few smiles on many of Charles County’s youngest citizens who otherwise would not have received a gift. The Toys for Tots Foundation, 501(c) (3) is a non-profit organization started in 1947 by the United States Marine Corps Reserve to help less fortunate children at Christmas time. As of 2013, the Toys for Tots Program and Foundation have collected and distributed more than 469 million toys to needy children.
