Bollywood actors came together at a news conference in India’s showbiz capital Mumbai on Thursday (May 28) to announce the IIFA Awards 2015.
The 16th edition of International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards, India’s version of the Oscars, will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The star studded event will begin on June 05 and the award ceremony will take place on June 07.
Bollywood actors Anil Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, Arjun Kapoor and actress Sonakshi Sinha were present at the conference to make the announcement.
Anil Kapoor said like all previous editions that were held at places like Singapore, Dubai, Sri Lanka and more, this year’s awards in Malaysia would also be spectacular.
“This year I have promised the Malaysia government and the Malaysian, all the people who came at the press conference. My instinct says and my instinct is always right. It’s my gut feeling that this IIFA is going to be the best IIFA and of course, ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’s’ screening, the premier is going to happen here,” said Kapoor.
The IIFA weekend would bring together the world’s largest film industry to celebrate the success and magic of Indian cinema with a song-n-dance spectacular show titled IIFA ROCKS, the IIFA Fashion extravaganza, IIFA Gala Screening of the much-awaited blockbuster ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ and the awards ceremony.
The whole star cast of ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ – actresses Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma, Shefali Shah and actors Ranveer Singh, Farhan Akhtar – would be in attendance along with film’s director Zoya Akhtar.
The awards have been choreographed by Shiamak Davar and would be broadcast on general entertainment channel Colors.
Chief Executive Officer at Colors, Raj Nayak, was also present at the conference and said this year’s awards are going to be grand and different.
“At Colors, anything and everything that we do, we try to do it with lot of passion and we try to scale up things, try to do it in different way and hopefully in true colors style we will give you a great entertaining event this year,” said Nayak.
IIFA 2015 would be hosted by actors Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor and would also see performances by Bollywood actresses Parineeti Chopra, Shraddha Kapoor and actors Riteish Deshmukh among many others.
India, the world’s biggest film producer, makes more than double the number of Hollywood movies on an annual basis. Already popular in countries with sizable Indian populations, Indian films are also a growing hit with Chinese audiences as well as in Russia and Germany.
