Nikka Garcia tells basher: "I wish you never go through what we went through"

The mom of two just had to call out a rude and insensitive comment made by a woman who saw the news about Nikka's miscarriage on Smartparenting.com.ph's Facebook feed. The comment made by a certain Yeth Halim Bantugon read," Hindi kasi deserved [sic] ni Patrick magkaanak ulit dahil sa ginawa niya kay Jennylyn Mercado. Karma has arrived obviously. You got what you deserved." While other people cried foul saying that nobody deserves to lose a child and defended that the ex-couple who share a son together had already moved on and are friends now, Bantugon kept on trolling. "Kahit magkapatawaran sila at maging okay, may karma pa din. So no choice," she wrote in another comment. "If you don't deserved [sic] it, God won't give it. That's why," she added.

Nikka couldn't help but reply. "What a very painful thing to say. From someone who knows nothing about what truly [happened] between my husband and Jennylyn! I wish you never go through what we went through. God bless you Always, Yeth," she wrote. "Please watch what you say. Karma might just hit you because of the hurtful things you are saying now," Nikka added. She also thanked the people who had similar experiences who decided to speak up against the heartless comment.

On her blog, Nikka revealed that she and Patrick are praying for "at least two more babies" and wanted to keep their children's ages close so they could grow up together. They are already parents to two daughters, Chelsea, 4, and Patrice, 1. Nikka was three months into her pregnancy when she lost the baby recently.
Delamar Arias shows off "final trimester" baby bump

"Final trimester," the former Morning Rush radio host wrote as caption to a photo of her glorious baby bump. In January, Delamar confirmed that indeed, she and husband Tyler Ashby are expecting baby number 4, and now she's on her third trimester already! In the comments of her Instagram post, Delamar also said she plans it to be her last pregnancy. In her most recent birthing story interview with Smartparenting.com.ph, Delamar said she didn't think she could go through another pregnancy after losing a daughter, Ava, late in 2014, which haunted her when she gave birth to her second son, Parker, now 1-year old. But she also did say that she would want more kids. Delamar and Tyler are also parents to their first-born son Cooper, age 5. Have a safe pregnancy and delivery, Delle!
DSWD supports signature campaign to amend the Solo Parents' Welfare Act
Department of Social Welfare and Development secretary Judy Taguiwalo led the members of the DSWD Executive Committee and some 200 employees in participating in the signature campaign seeking to fasttrack amendments to Republic Act No. 8972, otherwise known as The Solo Parents' Welfare Act of 2000. "I enjoin all Filipinos – men and women alike – to sign the Gabriela petition calling for the immediate amendment of the Solo Parents law. We should also push and encourage our local government units to improve their social welfare services for the citizenry, including services for solo parents," Taguiwalo said in a press release.
Currently, there are 10 bills in the House of Representatives (HOR) proposing to add to the support and benefits of Filipino solo parents. Such amendments include a 20-percent discount on medicines, vaccines, and hospitalization bills; milk and food supplements; and recreation facilities where single parents can bond with their children. Other discounts on basic necessities and school tuition and supplies are also included in the proposed measures. The signature campaign hopes to garner one million signatures, and is spearheaded by the Gabriela Women's Party, the Ilaw para sa Kababaihan at Bata (Light for Women and Children), and the Federation of Solo Parents, Luzvimin. Kiddie savings accounts expanded to include teens
Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Amando Tetangco, Jr. announced that the Kiddie Savings Account rule now includes anyone 19 years old and below. They could open a savings account in any of the participating banks with just P100, and it will not have any minimum maintaining balance required. The participating banks include Banco de Oro (BDO), Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) and BPI Family Savings Bank, China Bank Savings, Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP), EastWest Bank, Maybank Philippines, Metrobank, Philippine National Bank (PNB), Philippine Savings Bank (PSB), Philippine Veterans Bank, Rizal Commercial Banking Corp., RCBC Savings Bank, Security Bank, Sterling Bank of Asia, United Coconut Planters Bank and UCPB Savings Bank.
"Aside from targeting a wider market of savers, we also wish to help those who have started the habit of saving sustain it until they have graduated and started working," Tetangco said during the launch of the program changes. Kiddie accounts were first introduced in 2011 to help teach young Filipinos good money habits. Death penalty passed in the Lower House after third reading
The lower house in a session on Tuesday, March 7, passed House Bill No. 4727, or the Death Penalty bill with a majority of 217 in favor to 54 against (and one abstention) in the third and final reading. The proposed measure seeks to re-impose capital punishment for heinous drug-related offenses, including importation of dangerous drugs; sale, trading, administration, dispensation, delivery, distribution and transportation of dangerous drugs; manufacture of dangerous drugs and/or controlled precursors. Possession of dangerous drug would only be meted with life imprisonment. The death sentence, according to the bill, will be carried out by hanging, firing squad, or lethal injection, though it particularly excludes children below 18 years old and senior citizens over 70 years old at the time they committed the crime.
The bill's original version included individuals found guilty of rape, plunder, and treason, which were excluded to fasttrack its passing. The proposed measure's enactment into law now rests in the Senate, where it's yet to be discussed and deliberated. (inquirer.net)
The Lion King musical is headed to premiere in Manila!
This year is looking big for theater companies. Michael Cassel Group in association with Disney Theatrical Productions is bringing the world’s #1 musical Disney’s The Lion King to premiere in Manila in March 2018. It will be the first international tour to mark The Lion King's 20th anniversary on stage and the title's 25th global production. The show’s director, costume designer and mask co-designer Julie Taymor said "It is wonderful that these countries in Asia will be able to experience this new South African cast of The Lion King. They’re in for a tremendous treat as the soul of this music will come through these extraordinary performers.
