November is many things but my newest reason to love this month is that it is actually one of the most delicious months of the year…
That’s right, November is Peanut Butter Lovers Month and to celebrate, I’ve teamed up with Adams 100% Natural Peanut Butter again to share some yummy peanut butter recipes and give you the chance to try some Adams for yourself!
I’ve always been a peanut butter lover but as a runner and a mom, I’ve come to appreciate it for so many more reasons. I love the protein and healthy fats before and after my long runs and I love that my kids pick a naturally delicious snack that will fill them up and eat their peanut butter on celery, apples or crackers.
Having switched to Adams 100% Natural Peanut Butter this year, I like knowing that we’re actually getting the benefits of all those peanuts themselves since Adams is totally free of any trans fats, preservatives, hydrogenated fats, stabilizers and added sugar. And given the amount of peanut butter we eat in this house, that’s a big difference!
To make sure I get my fill of peanut butter this month, I’ve been making some of the Adams simple and on-the-go recipes for me and my kids. Since I like to have snacks on hand that are both filling and natural (it’s so much easier to make healthy choices when you have good options on hand) I’ve really enjoyed the No-Bake Fruit and Nut Balls.
My youngest son could barely keep his hands off of these babies long enough for me take a picture!
The full recipe is below but I’ll walk you through how easy these delicious fruit and nut balls are to make. Even with the ‘help’ of my youngest son, we had them put together in a flash. The recipe calls for a mix of dried cranberries, blueberries and cherries as well as mixed, salted nuts. I actually keep a container of random mixed fruits and one of random nuts for snacking so I reached for both of those for this recipe.
My son helped me shell a few extra almonds and pistachios to add to the mix…
He was also a big help chopping all the nuts in this crazy old nut-chopper that’s been handed down through our family…
We added some yummy real maple syrup to the chopped nuts, dried fruit, vanilla protein powder, oats and of course the delicious Adams Creamy Natural Peanut Butter and mixed everything together.
My youngest son really enjoys helping me in the kitchen with things like measuring, pouring and tasting but he finds it especially cool to be able to help do things like roll out dough or help shape the little balls. He definitely ‘helped’ with these guys which might explain the varying sizes of my finished treats!
One final check to make sure there was no more dough left in the bowl!
We popped these little fruit and nut balls into the fridge for a few hours (after trying one or two fresh from the bowl – yum) and then went on to make one more similar kind of recipe together. Since the fruit and nut balls turned out so good, I wanted to try the Sesame PB Date Bites as well.
The sesame date balls were similarly easy and contained only 4 ingredients: pitted dates, Adams 100% Natural Creamy Peanut Butter, chopped peanuts and toasted sesame seeds. I’m including the full recipe below because they turned out great and I’m not sure a picture will convey just how tasty these are – you honestly have to try them for yourself.
By the shapes of these treats can you tell who helped me roll them?
What I love about these kinds of recipes is that they can be so much more than just a snack. During the day, I like to have healthy, filling snacks around so that I know we’ll fill up but also won’t need to stuff our faces with empty, processed calories. Both of these little treats are perfect for that but because they’re both made with dried fruits, protein-rich peanut butter and lightly salted nuts, I think they’d be great for mid-run fuelling as well. (A sesame date ball would be far more enjoyable mid-run than a gel!)
I hope you’ll take the time to celebrate Peanut Butter Lovers Month by trying out these or any of the other naturally delicious recipes on the Adamspeanutbutter.ca. They’ve all been designed with natural on-the-go families and convenience in mind.
And because I know you’d love to get your hands on some yummy Adams 100% Natural Peanut Butter yourself, stay tuned for an upcoming giveaway post!
