Dear Cornell Dining,

Normally I’d rate you 10/10 – would recommend. How could I not with Cornell dining always ranking nationally in the top 10? However, two weeks into the school year has already made me nervous for what’s to come.

It all started with brunch – or shall I say without brunch. Where did West Campus’ brunch go? Does anybody know at which dining hall I can find glorious brunch offerings? Now, I’m sure RPCC still has their pancake bar, but a girl needs to solve her Saturday woes – and that cheese plate used to be my solution. All summer I’ve been looking forward to chocolate cherry bread and brie within walking distance from off-campus housing. Imagine my heartbreak when that dream didn’t pan out.

I tried to stay strong and count my blessings by fixing myself a bowl of cereal with a big dollop of peanut butter on the side, only to be met by another disappointment: why is West limited to the choice of Skippy creamy while all the freshmen get to taste the miraculous honey roasted peanut butter? What happened to seniority?

Maybe I’m the only one who is upset about breakfast; that’s okay, not everyone is a breakfast person. But what about the lunch options at Trill? I see right through you Cornell, and I’m upset about my lack of free will when it comes to sizes. I don’t want a tub of salad to carry in my bag. The boxes were much more convenient, and the question of “regular or large” definitely made me feel empowered.

Now dinner is hard to mess up, but I’m slightly curious about the options of black fungi mushrooms and the lack of regularity when it comes to seasoned chicken breast. We need more chicken salad and much less wasabi. I’m searching for the protein because my main entrees are always leaving me wanting more. The 6’5, overgrown boy in front of me receives serving sizes much larger than mine…big girls gotta eat and I can’t keep returning to stand in line back to back.

Maybe these changes aren’t possible to fix, but if I have a chance to suggest another dining change, it’s this: Cornell apple cider all year round. It’s the one thing I have to look forward to this fall, so please don’t take that away too.
