Our Drilling segment is one of the leading global suppliers of integrated drilling systems for onshore and offshore applications. We are inventing the products and solutions for our customers that include shipyards, drilling contractors, exploration and production companies and rental tool companies. Equipment we design and manufacture include blow-out preventers (BOPs), control systems, drilling risers and valves, manifolds and other rig products, parts and services. Because of an increased focus on safety and tighter regulation, Drilling has seen an increase in customers wanting to re- certify BOP stacks or to replace aging equipment.
**Job Summary**
This position works with a small engineering team and/or on independent assignments with the Cameron’s Rig Equipment Power Systems product line consisting of switch gear, engine-generator controls, variable frequency drives (VFD), motor starters, and automation equipment for use in Oil & Gas drilling applications. This product is typically installed into a power control room. The job requires involvement in the entire process from conceptual application of an idea through the manufacturing and testing of a finished product. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
+ Lead design activities to package the product, working closely with electrical engineering disciplines
+ Lead design activities to create power control rooms and oilfield drag skids including material selection, structural analysis, building layout, cabling arrangements, and engineering oversight of subcontractors
+ Review product requirements based on customer specification, industry standards (e.g. API, NEMA, IEC), and third party agencies (e.g. ABS, DNV)
+ Create functional design specifications, conceptual drawings, detailed assemblies, and supporting documentation for the mechanical portion of product deliverable
+ Confirm suitability for different climates such as cold weather, jungles, and desserts; also confirm suitability for different environments such as marine and off-road transport.
+ Prepare mechanical calculations for various assemblies such as cable booms, vibration dampening, basic air conditioning, and chilled water systems
+ Create models of electro-mechanical products using a 3D computer-aided design software
+ Enter product design information into a materials requirements planning software
+ Specify components, generate bills of material and prepare inspection and test plans
+ Direct activities of subcontractors and commercial part vendors
+ Document the project per engineering department procedures
+ Provide technical support to manufacturing, field service, and sales departments
+ Submit documentation for Regulatory Body Certification (where applicable)
+ Assist Designers, Drafters, and Technicians in developing the products
+ Provide existing product line support in design activities and/or modification of work in process
**Minimum Job Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in engineering from an accredited four-year College or University
+ Minimum of 5 years related experience
+ Requires application of well-developed technical knowledge in planning, conducting and coordinating difficult assignments.
+ Able to make independent decisions in planning, organizing and completing technical assignments.
+ Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
+ Able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
+ Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
+ Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and CAD packages.
+ Thorough understanding of typical electro-mechanical assemblies as used in oil & gas drilling
+ Thorough understanding of typical power control room assemblies as used in oil & gas drilling
+ Able to interpret mechanical requirements from associated electrical schematics
+ Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project software
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Mechanical and/or Structural engineering background
+ Strong experience with CAD modeling software, preference given to AutoDesk Inventor
+ Work experience performing Finite Element Analysis
+ Work experience using a MRP system, preference given to SAP
+ Able to learn calculation and simulation software such as MathCAD, Automation Studio, ANSYS
