# Data Scientist
**Location:** Pune \- India
**Schlumberger** has an opening in Pune, India for **Data Scientist** with remarkable problem\-solving ability would lead research projects in machine\- learning capabilities to empower data\-driven modeling\. He / She would be part of the Data Science Team and work closely in partnership with the domain experts within the organization and develop sophisticated state\-of\-the\-art machine learning models for engineering purposes\.
**Responsibilities:**
+ The Senior Machine\-Learning Expert will collaborate with Research Scientists, Domain Experts, and Software Engineers to develop AI based products\.
+ This position will require significant ideation, innovation and exploration to tackle scientific problems previously unaddressed\.
+ Collaborate with domain experts to understand the problem at hand and devise a plan of action to research the optimal data\-driven solution\.
+ Guide the data engineers to experiment and evaluate new ideas; run comparative exercises and ensure algorithms are thoroughly tested\.
+ Work with software engineering teams to tailor and transfer the ML\-based solutions for product implementation on distributed architectures\.
**Qualifications & Experience:**
+ 10\+ years of experience with a Ph\.D\. / M\.S\. degree specialized in a quantitative field \(e\.g\., Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Operations Research\) from a tier one institute\. \(However, outstanding candidates with less number of years of experience would have an exception\)
+ Expertise to innovate & develop scientific applications using modern machine\-learning methods, especially in deep learning techniques with excellent understanding of signal processing, time\-series analysis and image processing along with extensive knowledge and experience in applying these techniques in a professional context is highly preferred\.
+ Experiences with one or more within DNN, LSTM, CNN, RNN, RBM, Deep Belief Networks, is a big plus\.
+ Use of one of more within Theano, Tensorflow, MXNet, Keras, Caffe with a programming background in Python and an experience in Cloud computing, big\-data computing, etc\. is a big plus; while, experience in GPU computing would be a plus\.
+ Team & Technology management is a plus, but not a key determinant\.
