Defected’s latest party at Booom was cut short last Saturday after a mystery attacker set off a fire extinguisher inside the troubled Ibiza club.
Taking to Twitter immediately afterwards, Defected chief Simon Dunmore initially suggested ‘some retard letting off a tear gas canister in the club. Wtf is wrong with people!!!”
“We sincerely hope that these actions were not part of the continued dirty tricks campaign against @booomibiza this summer,” Defected then also posted.
Two days later Defected posted a more detailed press release about the incident, clarifying that the attack involved one of the club’s dry ice style fire extinguishers.
“The extinguisher, which contained the fire extinguishing powder, monoammonium phosphate, was fired from a balcony directly at the DJ booth, covering the DJs and all the technical equipment,” Defected revealed, “The club was evacuated and the crowd waited patiently for an hour before being told we were unable to continue.”
“Defected wishes to thank everybody who came to the party and apologises to everyone who had their night cut short. It was a great shame that the actions of one irresponsible individual should spoil a tremendous time for everyone,” they added.
“We were also disappointed for our artists, Copyright, Franky Rizardo, Sonny Fodera, Shovell and Simon Dunmore as they were unable to finish off the great night of music they had started.
We look forward to seeing everyone at Booom! this coming Saturday 7th September and welcome Kenny Dope, Guti and Flashmob for the next instalment of our 2013 season in Ibiza.”
