So, funny story about this sandwich- my 6 year old daughter had just sunk her teeth into this crusty bread when she let out a little cry. She pulled her mouth away from the bun and there in the hard, crusty bread was her tooth.

Her teeth have literally been falling out of her head at a rapid rate. I think that this summer she has lost 4 teeth. My husband and I have done pretty well to make sure that the tooth fairy visits and does her job to leave money in exchange for her teeth.

But the other night, we had a total Tooth Fairy fail . . .

my daughter came running down the stairs the next morning with her tooth in her hand, yelling
"The Tooth Fairy forgot about me!!!"

Talk about heart breaking!

I was talking about this experience with my friends . . . thankfully we are not the only ones who have had this happen! The Tooth Fairy was sure to visit our home the next night and wrote a sweet apology letter, so all was forgiven and forgotten.

My husband and I vowed that we would never let this happen to us again and we swore that we would set alarms and do whatever it takes to help us remember. So, I wanted to ask all of you . . . what do you do in this situation? How do you remember to have the Tooth Fairy visit or what do you do if you forget? I would love to know!

And while we are on this subject, what is the going rate for baby teeth these days? Back in my day, it was a quarter . . . but with inflation and all that jazz,

I am sure that it's a lot more. Ha ha!

Anyway, these sandwiches are awesome. I was actually going to make just regular cheesesteak sandwiches when I realized I didn't have any beef. So, we compromised and used chicken, which my kids liked more than beef! It's a quick, easy, and delicious meal- which means it's a perfect 10 in my book!

Slow Cooker Chicken Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches
Ingredients:

1 1/2 lbs skinless, boneless chicken breasts (frozen works fine)

2 green peppers, sliced

1 medium onion, sliced

1 (14 oz) can chicken broth

1 (1 oz) packet Italian dressing mix

2 cloves garlic, minced

6 buns or hoagies

6-8 slices provolone cheese

Directions:

Spray slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray. Place chicken inside slow cooker. Top with sliced peppers, onion, and garlic; pour chicken broth and dry dressing mix packet on top.

Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours (or high for 3-4 hours). Spoon meat mixture onto buns and top with pieces of cheese. Another yummy option is to toast your bread in a 375 degree oven for 5-8 minutes, then top with meat and cheese, and stick back in the oven for 5 minutes to melt the cheese and make it nice and gooey.

My sister and I discovered that we loved dijon mustard on the bread for an additional kick.
