Named The S.Pellegrino Best Restaurant in Asia 2015 at last evening’s Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants event, Gaggan has announced some major plans. Joining the modern fine-dining restaurant later this year will be 3 new concepts: a bar, a casual-dining restaurant, and a food laboratory complete with chef’s table.
The new restaurant, Gaggan Easy, will not only serve up a more everyday and affordable Gaggan-style cuisine to diners with an a la carte menu of curries and other Indian-fusion food, it also features a ‘no reservations’ policy and a culinary laboratory that head chef Gaggan Anand promises to “investigate Asian ingredients and their potential for modern gastronomy”
Gaggan Easy is slated to open on the same premises as Gaggan, on Ploenchit Road, Bangkok Thailand.
The 2015 list of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants features 8 new entries, including first-time entries from the Philippines (Antonio’s, No.48) and Cambodia (Cuisine Wat Damnak, No.50). China boasts 16 entries on the list while Japan claims 8 places.
Singapore managed to snag 10 out of the 50 available spots, with Restaurant André at No. 5, also The S.Pellegrino Best Restaurant in Singapore for the 3rd year running. Other Singapore highlights also include returning favourites like Waku Ghin (No. 9), Jaan (No. 11), Les Amis (No. 13) and Iggy’s (No. 18), as well as debut of Burnt Ends (No. 30) and return of Osteria Mozza (No. 45) to the list.
