Well here you have it, the sheer dedication to that middle wheel size, as Scott Sports is now unveiling their already second generation of 650B full suspension wonder bikes for the 2014 season nearly upon us. They were definitely the early adopters of the middle weight wheel size, and it shows here dramatically with the newest Genius LT 700 Tuned Enduro ride, which will be rounding out the line up. As they have been introducing most recently several others along with the race ready 120mm Spark b-tweener model, as well as a 150mm shorter travel brother to the same bike shown here. While the new Spark sits in side by side with its 29er sibling so that you can choose your wheel size, but the new Genius 650B LT actually replaced the past seasons 26″ long-travel for supremacy in the category. This sweet ride shown here is just now gaining traction in the media spotlight, as recently released to be the “Tuned” version of last seasons first generation Genius – which basically builds it out just exactly how you would specify the spec on a lightweight 170mm travel dream build.
The final results are quite impressive to say the least, as it might very well be up there in the stratosphere as one of the lightest 170mm 27.5 trail bikes coming off the showroom floor.
Being up for grabs several years back and purchased by Scott, the parts company Syncros is now one of their own component companies, which allows the new ride to be laden with spectacular color coordinated Syncros products throughout. Helping to drastically bring the scale down as well into the 20lb spectrum, since most of the parts on it are carbon. They decked it out with a Syncros 1.0 seat, seatpost, stem, handlebar, along with fast wheels, all of them being light but burly in the parts department to help shave grams off. As the suspension department is dealt by Fox with a 34 Float CTD FIT Air Kashima fork and a Fox Nude custom shock. All the while both ends of the suspension utilize their TwinLoc single lever actuation system, by having 3 different travel settings, of traction control, climb, or descend it.
Further savings on the scale is due in part to SRAM’s XO1 drive system for the best in 1 by setups out there.
As per review it’s been reported the new Genius LT hits the scale at 12.39kg, or 27.31 lbs with no pedals. Quite the looker, and looks to to back all that up out on the the race track… Enjoy!
