Jeremy Greenberg is a fitness enthusiast and Co-Founder of Flyte Fitness based in New York City. In this interview, he discusses the Core Flyte, an innovative exercise product that offers a comprehensive workout using unique technology.

Fitness is your passion. How did it all start?

I’ve always been interested in health and fitness. I make efforts to eat well and have participated in many long distance races in recent years, including three marathons. I’ve experimented with a variety of workouts – from muscle confusion in P90X to high intensity interval training. I find fitness a very personal part of each of our lives and it’s terrific to try new techniques and learn from others.

How did you get into the business side of fitness?

I was introduced to my Co-Founder, Paul Nicholas, through a business school friend. Paul is a fitness and conditioning coach who invented and patented the Core Flyte. As soon as he showed me the Core Flyte and I used it, I knew it would be appealing for anyone who’s looking for a more exciting workout. To me, people and product are key to a successful company and both were firmly in place.

What makes a good gym? What are the three most important things that bring people back?

First, I’d point out that any location can by your “gym.” Plenty of people work out at home, outside or while traveling. That said, there are a lot of fantastic gyms that stand out for a few reasons. Three critical characteristics of a successful gym are top-notch programs and equipment, a passionate staff and perhaps most important, a dedicated clientele. No one goes to the gym unless something is drawing them there. At the end of the day, it’s all about the atmosphere and participating in a group fitness class with energy and enthusiasm makes a huge difference.

Tell us about the Core Flyte, Flyte Fitness’ flagship product.

I would suggest readers to watch a short, 90-second video, on our website as my words won’t do the product justice. Core Flytes are all-surface, stability pads that move on ball transfer units. Our slogan is “Your Workout. Reinvented” and the Core Flyte enables users to reimagine how they work out. The Core Flyte truly frees your workout. It moves in any direction, on any major surface and allows people to come up with unique ways to exercise. It improves stability and engages the core and secondary and supporting muscles.

Who should use the Core Flyte?

A wide variety of people have used the Core Flyte. We’ve had a physical therapist use it to help improve mobility of her patients. Many personal trainers have incorporated into training programs for their clients – across age groups, gender and level of fitness. We’ve had athletes and celebrities use it as well. Someone who wants to get more out of their workout and is looking for something new and fun would likely love it.

There are so many exercise machines and other fitness products out there, what makes Core Flyte special?

The Core Flyte is the only product that can move freely on any surface while engaging the core. Nothing else can do that. The Core Flyte is certainly more portable than large machines as it fits in the palm of your hand. The Core Flyte incorporates ball transfer units (BTUs) — commonly used in the aeronautics industry — to facilitate a free range of motion. The Core Flyte offers a comprehensive workout for beginners and athletes alike. It doesn’t have one purpose, like most equipment. It can be used for a variety of exercises. The Core Flyte is commonly used for group fitness, circuit training, cardio, physical therapy, stretching, yoga and Pilates.

Give us an example of how Core Flyte can be used to train, let’s say, the abdominals.

Sure. Many core-centric products are solely focused on the core. They’re sort of like doing a crunch or sit-up. When you use the Core Flyte to do an exercise that is not traditionally associated with the core, it will still activate abdominal muscles. One example, is a simple lunge. Performing a lunge without the Core Flyte will have some impact on the core because you have to stay balanced. However, when you perform a lunge with a Core Flyte under one foot and floating across the ground, your core is engaged significantly more as you maintain control of the device as you flow through the exercise. This is true with leg exercises, arm exercises, cardio… the core is always engaged. Thus, the name… Core Flyte.
