Jade Mountain is located high on a hilltop a good ten minute walk from the beach that forms part of the sister property Anse Chastanet. But why would you ever want to leave you Jade Mountain Sanctuary with your own infinity pool and a butler on call? Well I’ll tell you the reason…we’d heard rumours that ‘The World’s Best Burgers’ were served on the beach and we knew we’d have to make the pilgrimage down there.
To be fair it’s not a difficult pilgrimage when your butler can drive you down there in an air-conditioned vehicle. But before we get to the burgers, I want to tell you a little more about Anse Chastanet, which is the more purse-friendly property also owned by Nick Troubetzkoy. While Jade Mountain is adult-only, Anse Chastanet is very family-friendly with 49 hillside rooms, the more premium of which also have the signature missing fourth wall.
The resort is easily accessed simply by walking down the hill from Jade Mountain and all facilities, food and drink are available to Jade Mountain guests and are included in the Total Romance package that we’d booked. There are several restaurants here too, firstly The Treehouse restaurant which is a fine dining restaurant with Caribbean influences. We chose not to try it as I’d read some negative feedback from Tripadvisor which was confirmed by some of other guests we met at the resort.
However, it did boast a gorgeous view of the beach below and I can imagine it would be rather romantic even if the food isn’t out of this world.
Heading down from the restaurant is Anse Chastanet’s main beach which has gorgeous silvery volcanic sand and filled with beautifully rustic straw umbrellas, hammocks and pretty palm trees.
Here is the Trou au Diable Beach restaurant which serves casual food as well as Caribbean specialities for lunch and by night the restaurant becomes Apsara, an India-Caribbean fusion menu. We tried Apsara once and while it was ok, I think if you’ve paid to stay at Jade Mountain stick with the top notch cuisine and eat in Jade Mountain Club every night especially if you only have a short time there.
There’s also Piti Piton lounge which is rather the perfect spot for sipping on a pina colada or to eat from the all vegetarian menu at Emerald’s.
And here’s the view that you’ll enjoy with your rum in your hand…
Looking back is a rather spectacular view of Jade Mountain and the opportunity to admire that stunning and unique architecture from afar.
The Anse Chastanet resort also accommodates watersports and there is a tennis court, spa and a boutique. A little way down from the main beach is a second more deserted beach…
Which is just barefoot, rustic luxury at it’s best…

It’s certainly nothing fancy, just a few tables on the beach, with an open barbecue and five items on the menu.
We became totally addicted to these plaintain chips whilst in St Lucia and the little beach shack served very good fries too.
Just look at that epic burger a flawless tower of soft brown bread, juicy beef and crispy bacon. Was in the world’s best burger? Well I haven’t tried every burger in the world so I wouldn’t know but I’m pretty sure that The Jungle Beach Bar and Grill can safely say it’s the best burger on the island.
Especially when paired with a cool banana daquiri.
We also sampled a fish roti, a hugely popular kind of fast food in St Lucia. It’s basically a flatbread wrap filled with curried fish and potatoes, and was quite possibly the single best thing I sampled during our time on the island. Also on our table was banana ketchup and a very hot, hot sauce which we happily dipped our fries into as we tucked into our food.
Sipping our drinks and munching on our food we felt so content and relaxed…
I could definitely get used to this island life…
