All flights in and out of Kelowna International Airport were cancelled last night after a 3.5 hectare wildfire burned north of YLW.

The fire broke out at about 6:00pm. Air space had to be shut down to allow two air tankers and a water-bombing helicopter to work on the fire. The blaze was contained and the airport re-opened at about 9:00pm

At the height of the blaze almost 30 firefighters were battling the fire from the ground. About a dozen firefighters remained on the scene overnight.

This morning the airport reader-boards show that flight activity is back to normal except for one cancelled Horizon Air flight to Seattle.
