We were excited to visit the new DANK at Osborn/Woods gallery at Miners Foundry Cultural Center in Nevada City on Friday. The gallery is debuting at the 13th annual Wild & Scenic Film Festival. The new visual arts space on Spring Street in the historic downtown is freshly painted, bright and airy, and bathed in natural sunlight, as well as well-staged gallery lights. DANK is full of creative energy this weekend, featuring the artwork of local artists including Sheila Cameron, Joe Meade, Celine Adrianna Negrete and others.

DANK will be open on Friday, January 16, from 4-8 p.m.; on Saturday, January 17, from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. and from 4-8 p.m.; and on Sunday, January 18 from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. and from 4-6 p.m. In the morning, FoxHound Espresso & Coffee Broaster will be pouring craft coffee, and in the evenings, DANK will offer wine. The gallery, combined with the Foundry, new KVMR building, new coffeehouse, Nevada City Winery, the new Wild & Scenic Film Festival headquarters at 300 Spring Street and the restored Powell House, make this neighborhood a happening place this weekend — and we predict, all year long. You can read more about the Spring Street neighborhood in our winter issue. A podcast about DANK, with its founders on KVMR, is here. (Photos: Roseanne Burke)
