Mitchell is a familiar face at Shorter University. He previously served in the Office of Financial Aid as assistant director of financial aid systems from 2008 to 2011. Prior to his return to Shorter, Mitchell was associate director of electronic services at Berry College and also held contractor positions at Adrian College, Kirtland Community College, and Mid-American Christian University. Mitchell also held positions in the Financial Aid Department at Reinhardt College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Shorter University Executive Vice President/Provost Dr. Donald Martin said Mitchell’s experience and vision aligns well with the goals of the university and its Registrar’s Office.

“We are grateful that Justin Mitchell has returned to the Shorter University family as our new registrar,” Dr. Martin said. “He brings to our institution a unique skillset combining technological prowess, professionalism, and the ability to relate well with people. Through his vision and leadership we look forward to seeing our processes and procedures related to academic records become increasingly efficient and streamlined.”

Mitchell said he is glad to be back on the Hill working alongside new and former colleagues.

“God stepped in and provided this opportunity for me to come back and work with an excellent team,” he said. “My hopes are to continue on where the outgoing registrar left off and make continuous improvements in any way possible.”Mitchell and his wife, Erika, have two daughters, Madeline, 7; and Amelia, 3.
