Brian Yuzna’s bloody sequel comes to Blu-ray in a deluxe, 3-disc set.
Genre home video leaders Arrow Video have announced April 11th as the drop date for their deluxe, Blu-ray, 2K restoration, 3-disc (!) release of Brian Yuzna’s wonky but really, really wet sequel BRIDE OF RE-ANIMATOR and it comes stocked with the kind of insane wealth of extra content that Arrow is known and loved for.
In case you haven’t seen this sick and silly flick, here’s the official synopsis:
It has been eight months since the bloody massacre at Miskatonic Medical School. Unperturbed by the disastrous outcome of his previous meddling with the dead, Dr West (again played by Jeffrey Combs) continues his research into the phenomenon of re-animation; only this time, he plans to create life – starting with the heart of his young protégé Dan’s dearly deceased, Meg Halsey. Surely nothing could go wrong?
Surely it does!
While merely an echo of the Yuzna/Stuart Gordon original, BRIDE is still tons of fun and Arrow make the purchase totally worth while.
(And as an aside, on the Yuzna tip, one really hopes a full-blown, unrated love letter to the director’s best film, RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD III, is just around the bend…)
