Instagram keeps getting better and better. What with the improved editing controls in the latest update, Kimye’s wedding photo splash and more than 75 million photos uploaded daily, it continues to be the reigning image sharing app of choice.

As its popularity has grown, options for turning your favourite Instagram photos into tangible items to decorate your home have increased. It’s sad to leave photographs languishing in a digital prison, and surrounding yourself with colourful visual memories has never been so easy, fun or affordable.

With products on offer ranging from high quality canvas prints to collages, ceramic tiles, magnets, posters and calendars, it’s easy to turn your mobile snaps in to pieces of art that you can enjoy around the home – all the websites featured have one-click Instagram compatibility and many also accept photos from your computer.

Go on – make yourself something striking or treat a friend to a thoughtful gift. The only issue might be choosing which photos make the cut…

1. Ceramic tiles

ImageSnap turns your photos in to ceramic tiles that can be displayed on easels, propped up against a wall or actually grouted into one. You can even create a permanent photo gallery in your shower! They come in a variety of sizes from the 2kg, 12×12” ’Slab’ down to the 2×2” ‘Teeny Tile’ (pictured), which are especially cute, and come with a self-adhesive magnet you can fix on to the back.

2. Photo magnets

The team at Sticky9 are mad about magnets, and these slim, soft, 9-grid sets can be used all around the house to build up a visual centrepiece. Fill up your fridge door with your favourite travel pics or put a magnetic whiteboard in your bedroom for a gallery you can change whenever you want.

The jigsaw setting is really cool – it turns one photo in to 9 magnets with just a couple of clicks. Brilliant.

3. Photo collage

Choosing just one image for a beautifully printed canvas can be tough, so these photo collages from CanvasPop are a great way to lessen the pressure. Pick a theme (travel, friends, pets), gather photos from a holiday or event or find images with similar dominant colours to make a really striking piece.

4. Acrylic prism

These seriously pretty 6×6” prisms have a hand polished finish, punchy colours and a zippy turnaround. The wraparound effect gives a sophisticated look and as the prisms are conveniently able to stand up by themselves they’d look great on a bookshelf or mantelpiece, either singly or in a row.

5. Bamboo shadow box frames

Not only do they make lovely handcrafted shadow box square format bamboo frames, but Hatchcraft will print and mount your photo for you. It takes one click to connect your Instagram account and there are two sizes (4” or 7”) and three colours (lion, tiger or bear) to choose from.

The handmade, earthy charm of the bamboo frame is a really nice contrast to the ethereal nature of digital mobile photography – your walls will be pleased!

6. Poster

Did plastering your walls with posters lose its appeal when you passed puberty? Printstagram are here to change your mind with their hand-printed San Franciscan custom posters on thick, long lasting paper.

You can have between 50-200 photos on each poster, with a selection of colours and layouts in two sizes – 20”x30” or a whopping 20”x38”. Why not get a few posters made with an equal number of images, and use them to create a papered feature wall filled with friends and family?

7. Wood clipboard calendars

These luxurious calendars are printed on superfine paper, mounted on handcrafted clipboards made of reclaimed Colorado pine and feature magnetic mounting hardware. Most importantly, they give 12 of your photos a month long home gallery space. Pick out your favourite photo for each month last year, choose a theme or go abstract – the choice is yours. We also love Artifact Uprising’s beautiful photo books.

8. Coasters

One of the longest running online digital photo printing companies, Photobox has a range of Instagram-friendly products, including these swanky coasters.

Vibrant, chunky and heat resistant, they come in packs of 4 (with the same photo on each coaster) and will bring some visual zing to your coffee table.
