Ah, my son Kyle has no school today!  And because he had been requesting  for another“Fun Crafts with Mom” activity since last week , we did some crafting this morning. (I like naming our activities so that when they’re all grown,  my kids will have a good recall of what we do together when they were little.)

Since we always have bottles of Dutch Mill Delight at home, I thought of having my boys decorate some empty bottles for a little fun! We happily created cute crayon holders! A timely little project because the the habits I am currently putting emphasis on with Kyle these days are getting his belongings more organized, and drinking healthy.

I always keep a steady supply of Dutch Mill Delight in our fridge ever since Nuffnang Philippines sent over some samples to our home. I am loving this drink because it’s delicious and it’s loaded with probiotic. The duo power of Pro + Prebiotic fiber makes it better for digestion than Probiotic alone. When probiotic and prebiotic are combined, they produce longer living good bacteria that is good for the body.

My kids very much enjoyed making these crafts (they also enjoyed drinking every bottle prior to decorating them, hahaha!). They like Dutch Mill Delight’s rich milk taste and they find it refreshing. I am happy that they’re enjoying this healthy probiotic drink!

Here then are the works of
he
art we created. They make cute holders

for my boys to organize their crayons, right?

Speaking of organization, let’s talk a little bit more about it today. Let’s me share my organizing tips on the tree’s worth of papers and craft materials that my kid brings home from school!

Teaching Kyle to Organize His School Stuff

I hope I am not the only mom who freaks out with the mountain’s worth of craft materials and paper that my little one brings home from. I was a teacher in the upperlevel before but I never imagined that early school grade= a a tree’s worth of worksheets and crafts materials! And, you know it, loads of school stuff can mean a major home clutter which we always try to avoid, right moms?

While I am really into teaching organization at home, it actually  took a while before my son got the hang of fixing his own things. It’s only now that he’s in Grade 2 that he can that he can follow our school organizing routine on his own!

Nowadays, Kyle always tries to organize his belongings, especially his school items. He is now learning to put them in order and in place. Well not spotless but definitely noteworthy!

Here are my little ways to help my Kyle practice the habit of organizing. When his brother Trey will be big enough, he will also follow these:

Organizing begins in school.

Ever since he entered Kindergarten, he would carry an accordion folder where he keeps his school papers. This folder is properly labellled per subject and this is where he places his homework, worksheets, handouts, and even his craft outputs.

Sticking to an after-school organizing routine makes wonders!

It helps to deliberately let the kids know their home routines, like the after-school organizing routine. When Kyle was smaller,  I wrote and posted a little checklist for the routines that  he needs to follow like getting dressed, gathering homemork and fixing bags.

Designating a “home” for school items keep things in order!

During weekends, Kyle and I sort his worksheets so that they won’t pile up and get mixed. They’re grouped according to the following categories: Seatwork, Homework, Summative Test and Quizzes. (Not seen in the photo: the papers are clipped per subject!) It’s allot easier for us to pull out the handouts we need to review them!

Rewarding kids with a drink like Dutch Mill Delight is a great way to teach new habits!

After Kyle finishes his tasks, I would definitely give him a treat. I am a big believer of the reward system. When practiced correctly, it can play a big role in motivating the kids!

As my Kyle puts it, “It’s (Dutcmill Delight) yummy, truly a delight to drink! Hahaha

His favorite drink to request as a reward? Dutch Mill Delight, of course!   Dutch Mill Delight  is a sure way to help nourish good bacteria inside my kid’s tummy and make it absorb nutrients faster!  And oh, let me just share with you their new TVC:

At a young age, teaching my kids to be organized and making it a habit to give them the best nutrition means a lot to me. I am truly happy to see that they are growing  to be happy, wonderful and healthy kids!
