It’s been more than a week already since the first ever Youtube Fanfest here in Manila! I’ve got so much to share so before everything else, I have to tell you that I’ll split this #YTFF post into two - Youtube Fanfest + Meet & Greet with Joe, Caspar and Oli and the Youtube Creator Academy.
June 26, 2015 - I was fortunate enough to get passes for both the M&G and the show itself. My cousin and I actually got more than what we asked for because we got several passes from different sources, unfortunately, everything happened last minute so I wasn’t able to give some away. :(
We arrived at around 2pm as the meet and greet with Joe, Caspar and Oli is scheduled at 5:30. Would you believe that Marriot Grand Ballroom’s lobby is whopping jampacked with people already that early! I hate lines, I am impatient and you know the BIGBANG Galaxy Tour back in 2012 gave me a serious trauma on this. LOL - Oh but this is a fangirl’s life. My cousin is a huge fan of the brit boys and I was there to see my awesome blogging friend, Kristine of RealAsianBeauty as she was part of the YTFF lineup!
Meet & Greet Registration for Joe, Caspar and Oli didn’t take so much time. There were lots of young fans but surprisingly, they were super organized and not very hysterical. I kept on telling my cousin how AWKWARD I felt coz everyone’s showing their School IDs for identity verification while I show my Driver’s License and she her Tax ID. HAHA. WHY do I feel terribly old? I’m just 20-something. kkkk~
Quick OOTD~! I pose awkwardly for full body photos but here’s what I wore that night! I’m glad I chose something really comfy. (Checkered cover up is actually a dress. - My sister’s dress. HWAHWAHWA)
So after hours of lining up, we finally met Joe of Thatcherjoe! Oli and Caspar were just beside us but the lines were too chaotic that we only managed to take photos with Joe!
Joe is such a sweetheart! I only knew about him because I watch his sister, Zoella. I’m actually happy I get to meet this guy and that I found his Youtube Channel. It’s one of the funniest and most entertaining I am subscribed to. He’s so genuine and friendly - or maybe I am just used to meeting KPOP stars and that most of them are divas. Not hating, I love KPOP, these are facts based on my personal experience LOL
But yeah - Point is, Joe is super nice and just criminally cute. I should also mention that I hate the fact that he made my legs look freakin enormous beside his super skinny calves. His legs are basically my arms - Oh well, life.
The Fanfest talent lineup is amazing. I am so thrilled to watch both international and local acts. It’s overflowing with talent and happiness, yo!
Though here are my TWO mini rants.
1. International VS Local Acts - I get it, people want to see international acts because we don’t get to see them everyday, right? I am going to admit that I’m quite guilty of not knowing a lot of local acts (uhm, because my world basically revolves around KPOP? I don’t even know some of the international Youtubers there too.) - BUT what disappointed the heck out of me is that when some of the local acts came out, they didn’t get much cheer, they were booed and worse, I saw immature people flipping their middle finger telling some of the local acts to eff off. Hm, that’s sad, right? I mean, everyone deserves respect. If you don’t want to see or hear them, the best you can do is just watch and be quiet. It won’t hurt you. It’s just really upsetting and embarrassing because the international artists are seeing how most of the Filipino crowd treat the Filipino talents. I’m guilty of not knowing most of the local acts BUT they don’t deserve to be treated like that. Nobody deserves such disrespect.
2. Monster Mom - The event has a standing audience and I loathe standing because this is where you get squished and if you’re not tall enough, you’ll only watch the show on phones, iPads and if you’re that unlucky, you’ll get selfie sticks hitting your bunbunan. Cousin and I got a nice spot, not too crowded and we can actually get a nice view of the stage. Not until Monster MOM came. Apparently, a lot of poor individuals are getting terribly squished at the front, some even passed out! So we were asked to move just a bit at the back. Well, we’ve got no choice but to move, right? Domino effect. The mom behind me was hitting me with her elbow saying I should stop moving. I understand that she wants to protect her kid/s, but seriously? My back almost got bruises as she was hitting too hard (nasa UFC si mother), it’s not like I can just stay still while people in front of me move back, right? Geez, of all people there, mostly young ones - I am stunned that an adult would act like that. LOL. For her convenience, cousin and I moved from a different spot, and still, this mom and her kid/s got squished. Poor person that took my spot. kkkkkk~
ANYWAY.
I wasn’t able to take so much photos because I wanted to enjoy the show. But I just have to take Kristine and Ana’s! Their makeover segment is a dream, how amazing it is to be glammed up by this two and be styled by Camille Co!
#Jaspoli’s segment was chaotic. The fans were so hyped up to see this three cute British guys. Their act was super funny though! Ehh that’s expected, but I guess Caspar isn’t so pleased about his name being terribly misspelled. LOL - How can this happen! HAHAHA
The fanfest was just super fun. I was terribly exhausted but my cousin and I really had a good time. We even got free stuff from sponsors when we were about to leave! Cool. Haha!
How I wish they’ll be another Youtube Fanfest here in Manila. I hope they bring Ryan Higa, Pewds, Marzia and Zoella next time!!
Next post would be about the Youtube Creator Academy! Please keep yourselves posted. I just have to edit photos. LOL
