Earlier today I posted about some loose teas I received to review. I am also giving away the loose tea flavors too. You can find the review/giveaway here.

I my post I mentioned that I never tried loose teas before because I didn’t have a tea ball or a way of preparing loose teas. That is until I received free to review a mug from Libre Tea. Libre Tea offers tea lovers a great way to enjoy their tea at home or on the go.

What is Libre Tea you might ask? Libre Tea is a tea glass that has a special glass interior, durable poly exterior and a removable tea filter that allows you to quickly and easily prepare (and enjoy!) loose teas.

Libre Tea glasses are BPA free and work well for any beverage.

The Libre Tea collection includes the 9 oz. original, 14 oz. large and 10 oz. mug.

Here are some interesting facts about loose teas.

Loose leaf teas have a smaller environmental footprint than teabags – there is essentially no paper packaging for boxes or individual bags – and so much more flavor!

Loose tea can be re-steeped multiple times giving you more value for your money – green teas can be steeped 2-3 times, oolong often up to 5 times, even black tea can be steeped at least 2 times – making loose leaf tea very economical.

Loose tea contains more flavor and holds the flavor longer as the leaves are not crushed and broken unlike most tea bags that contain tea fannings and dust (cheapest grades of tea found at the bottom of the tea barrels).

That is pretty gross about the dust. I never knew that about tea bags before. Up until now I have always used tea bags. I grew up on tea bags. I’ve been using them all my life. Now that I know how much better loose teas are I am going to wean myself off tea bags and stick to loose teas.

To give you a better understanding as to what Libre Tea is and how to use it, check out this informative video.

Libre Tea is so easy to use. Simply add your favorite loose tea, pour in hot water, let it steep for the appropriate amount of time (check the tea packaging for steeping recommendations) and enjoy.

I received the 10 oz. mug to review.

It is really easy to use and works exactly like the large bottle shown in the video.

It does take a little getting used to as far as how much loose tea to use. I would recommend starting with a small amount (like a teaspoon) and work your way up to more if you find it’s not strong enough for you. Also, make sure if you are using a tea that needs to steep and then be removed that you remove it otherwise you’ll have tea so strong that you can’t drink it. Always be sure to carefully read the product label on the loose tea.

My daughter wanted to make some Tropical Passion Fruit herbal tea and put way too much in, plus she should have steeped it and removed it because the longer it sat in the water the stronger and undrinkable the tea became.

Lesson learned. Always read the label.

The mug is 10 oz. which is just the right amount of tea for any time of the day or night.

Being able to use loose teas opens up a whole new world to me. Now I can order some of the really unique and exotic loose teas and enjoy them at home or on the go.

Clean up is easy and the Libre Tea takes up on more room than a regular cup or mug.

This would make a fantastic gift for the tea lover in your life. Perhaps you can give them this in a basket full of an assortment of loose teas. That would make a great gift.
