Because when else can you get away with this much recklessness?

When you’re young you just want to see as much of the world as you can get your hands on. Whether you have ample amounts of money or just enough to scrape by, travelling in your twenties is unlike anything you’ll do again in your life. I know some of the best memories of mine are from days where, although I had only a few dollars to my name, I was overseas with my best friends, we were enjoying ourselves and at that point in time, that was all that mattered.

So not matter what point you’re at in your twenties, exploring the best the world has to offer is a must-do. Who cares if when you get back from holidays you have no money. You only live once, why not make it count?

1. Mykonos, Greece

If you’re interested in having the Summer Eurotrip of a lifetime, make sure not to miss a couple of days in Mykonos. Not only does the island offer up incredible scenery, but the nightlife is like nothing you’ve ever experienced. People come from around the world to experience a night on the island, so a party here is one not to be missed.

2. Queenstown, New Zealand

If you’re up for an adventure, then Queenstown is the place for you. The town is buzzing in both the Summer and Winter months and promises a wild night out as well as a long list of radical activities to keep you entertained. Bungy-jump, sky dive, take an extreme jet-boat ride, mountain bike, waterski, jetski or hit the slopes for snowboard, ski or even heliski if that tickles your fancy.

3. Pampalona, Spain

If you like to feel your heart explode from your chest, then a day spent at Pampalona is for you. The running of the bulls takes place in Pampalona every year and involves thousands of people ducking and weaving through the streets of the city aiming to enter the bullring before getting too close to one of the big angry bulls! Not for the faint-hearted.

4. Byron Bay, NSW, Australia

Think of the most chilled place you’ve ever been to. Now times it by ten and that is Byron Bay. Spend endless days relaxing near the beach and enjoying all the simple things life has to offer. Embrace your inner hippy and instead of crashing in a hostel or apartment, hire a camper van and set up home across from the beach.

5.  Cape Town, South Africa

With a relatively weak currency, this African nation offers an affordable destination with excellent value for money. South Africans are always up for a good time and in Cape Town you’ll find a unique mix of cultures, natural wonders and people.  Hike up Table Mountain, have a braai (Afrikaans for barbecue), dive with sharks, and if you dare, surf the amazing break.

6. Cancun, Mexico

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll have noticed that most American college movies mention a great time spent on Spring Break in Cancun. As one of the world’s greatest party destinations, this place is a must do while you’re still young and willing to drink and dance all night.

7. New York, New York, USA

The Big Apple is like no other city in the world. Full of chaos, bright lights, people from every walk of life, some of the world’s greatest bars, night spots and shopping, a group trip here with friends in your twenties is pretty much a rite of passage.

8. Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

Party capital of the world, Las Vegas is sure not to disappoint if you’re looking to party hard. Casinos and clubs alike go to the extreme to impress, and there’s no doubt you will be. Although it can be expensive, its worth the trip if you’re looking for a few unforgettable (or should we say forgettable) days. Let’s just say, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.

9. Niseko, Japan

For those powder hounds out there, this is one for you. With an average of over fourteen meters of snow falling annually in Niseko, it’s guaranteed to turn it on during your visit. With a great nightlife too, you can hit the slopes all day and party all night.

10. Split, Croatia

The old town of Split is absolutely stunning and offers lots to see and do, but its architecture is also best regarded from the water, especially when its from your own yacht! Getting involved in Yacht Week Croatia will see you enjoying a week filled with swimming, sun-baking, drinking and sailing and discovering the islands of Croatia.

11. Munich, Germany

Into beer? Into dressing up? Into a good time? Then visiting Munich during Oktoberfest is for you. Join your friends in the beer hall for steins of the best German beer and celebrate afterwards at the carnival outside. Unless you’re allergic to fun, you’re guaranteed to have a good time.

12. Koh Phangan, Thailand

Dance the night away on the island of Koh Phangan during its Full Moon Festival where the parties go all night and the scenery is out of this world. They say the moon viewed from this location is the most beautiful in the world. So why not go there and find out for yourself?

13. Berlin, Germany

You may not know it, but Berlin has an amazing art and underground scene. Top this of with the city’s interesting and unique history, and you’ve got yourself an infectious concoction that will make you want to quit your job and become a permanent resident.

14. Edinburgh, Scotland

Personally I think Edinburgh is the best city in the UK. All its best bits are within walking distance, it has wonderful buildings, parks and sights to see, and has bucket loads of charm. If you can try to get there in Summer, hitting up the Edinburgh Fringe Festival is a necessity. The city is in full swing with comedy galore, pop-up pubs and an all-round amazing atmosphere.

15. Rio De Janeiro, Brazil

Rio De Janerio is home to the original Carnival. Watch the city come alive as two million people take to the streets to celebrate. The costumes, the dance moves, the music and the electricity in the air will make you feel like you’ve entered a utopian world.

16. Buñol, Spain

Normally Buñol is your average Spanish city, but once a year it transforms to become the backdrop for the mother of all food fights: La Tomatina. The festival only lasts an hour and involves throwing tomatoes at everyone in the crowd. Prepare to get down and dirty as you and your mates start the festival throwing tomatoes and end it swimming in a sea of tomato sauce. You could only get away with craziness like this during your twenties, so don’t think about it, just do it.
