Scientist III will be responsible for developing new products or reformulating existing products as described in the accepted work practices and approved documentation processes (eg. Clarity). Could be leading a team who has a specific focus on one project or category.
Key Result Areas
Work with related functions including marketing team and technical team for NPD, review the clarity and make sure all technical requirements are practicable, and work with project team to manage the risk and give the positive solution.
Create formulation of prototypes including development of the beverage, syrup and flavoring system, making sure that the product has the right balance of tartness, sweetness, color or any other organoleptic characteristic of the final product.
Identify the lowest risk/cost beverage base supplier chain for new product formulations. Early Identify the key technical barriers to successfully introduce the new product and co-ordinate the preventive actions.
Preparation of small quantities of beverage base or products using equipment of the pilot plant and product development lab, such as balances, pumps, fillers, capers or any other equipment needed for this activity. Strictly follow the GMP and SOP procedure.
Develop good quality and safe products. Initiate the stability and shelf life tests for all the formulations developed according to stability guidelines. Description of the manufacturing conditions required to produce beverages, syrups and flavour concentrates in commercial scale at bottling plants, concentrate plants or co-packers.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships across KO R&D system and related internal and external business functions to support business growth initiatives, with good communication skills.
As the expert of the Dairy SME, work with team members and cross-functional team to develop dairy category expertise. Provide other developers/business units necessary technical support related to the SME when required.
Attend global R&D routine meeting, share own practice and leverage others experience to own project execution.
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation (e.g., troubleshooting, conducting preventative maintenance, calibrating and repairing).
Dedicate to lab work and efficiently input formulation in TCCC proprietary databases, such as PICASSO, technical database, etc.
Record results and observations in notebook. Maintain files and records, and regularly report the experimental result to product development manager.
Ensure priorities are handled effectively by modifying plans and actions in your own area of accountability. Work with effectiveness and efficiency.
Establish objectives for each member of a project team in order to clarify expectations and the relationship of his or her work to that of others on the team. Knowledge & Experience
• Solid knowledge of beverage and food, especially on Dairy related categories, such as acidified milk, Yogurt, flavoured milk, etc.
•Ability to handle multiple projects to ensure successful completion (e.g., on time, within budget), work with quality, effectiveness and efficiency.
• Honest, diligence, positive working attitude.
• Ability to measure instrument variations and apply corrections for ensuring the accuracy and precision of an instrument or measurement tool.
• Ability to recognize and protect proprietary information as it relates to project, formulas and ingredients.
• General beverage knowledge, including beverage industry trends/updates, ingredients, beverage physical/chemical attributes, beverage stability, QA/QC, process, packaging, sensory, nutrition, etc.
• Basic knowledge of food and water microbiology used to make judgments about the safety of ingredients, beverages, manufacturing techniques, packaging and storage conditions.
