Diva, Birch and I have been spending the holiday weekend hanging out at the agility trials.
Its a brand new trial at a brand new site, the Vadnais Heights Sport Complex. OMG it is the best surface I have ever run on. Awesome sports turf, very spongy, no dogs have really been slipping and it is friendly to the handlers joints as well. Plus it is air-conditioned(people have actually been heard to complain it is cold :lol:) As a result the dogs are running great and the trial day is getting done around 2pm daily. Super effort by the ring crews and awesome flowing yet challenging courses by the judges.
Friday, Birch got his 1st Q in Open Standard and got 1st place. He again missed the weave entrance but it wasn't the easiest entry as I had to try and rear cross him in an effort to keep away from the dog walk(he is a contact sucker).

In Open JWW, he hit the entry but couldn't get himself into the 2nd weave. Then I didn't drive him hard enough into the corner and got a refusal on a corner jump and that was that for jumpers. Truth be known I was trying to cheat back and slowed to much before the turn. I am getting faster myself but his speed is still playing with my mind and I don't trust myself to get to where I need to be yet. However, loved the 3 jump lead out and the awesome finish.

Diva got her 10th double Q and 24 more MACH points. She got 4th in jumpers and 2 solid runs. We had a little confusion at the end of Jumpers or she would have been 2nd. We are now officially half way to her MACH.

Saturday:
Birch got his 1st Open JWW leg and a 1st place. He hit his weave entrance! but I got a refusal trying to do a front after the weaves. I was late late late signaling. it He was still 28 seconds and change. So now we have 1 leg of each.

Standard was heartbreaking. I thought we Q'd but it turned out I popped Birch out of the last pole and I didn't see it. It is hard to see in the video but I stepped out early and he followed. So sad.:( He hit the entry on the weaves and I thought he was clean. 45 and some change on a 70 second course.

Diva had a great run in JWW but I turn 1 step early for the rear and Diva followed blowing a great run. :gaah She was working on 14 seconds under course time too. But I started thinking never a good thing.

We redeemed ourselves in Standard and got 19 more MACH points. Of course, the best run of the day , no video. But it was a trappy but flowing course and Diva handled it perfectly. Such a good girl. :smile2:
I hope everyone can see the video on FB(made them public) as my phone and youtube are fighting for some reason. One more day tomorrow.
